I started playing music on the rock guitar, and was attracted to the appeal of J-pop composition and arrangement. While I dabbled in jazz, fusion, and classical music, I fell in love with Chopin. When I started practicing the piano, I became interested in ``combinations of chords and melodies'' that I couldn't notice on the guitar.
The way you play the chords with your left hand and the way you arrange the notes can create a completely different world.
Among them, what kind of sound will the right hand choose this time?
It was a very shocking discovery for me at the time, when all I could think about was strumming and playing fast on a distortion guitar on a rock guitar.
From there, I started studying bossa nova guitar, singing accompaniment, piano, and classical music, and it was a long musical journey.
Looking back now, I realize that music for me is all about harmony.
Of course, I think there are many different genres and ways to enjoy music.
But in the end, when I think back on what I was most attracted to, I think it was a combination of "chord progression" and "melody" that was hidden in the J-pop and BGM-like easy listening that was playing when I was a student.
Back then, when idol songs came on, all I listened to was the intro, background instrumental performance, and chorus.
"Ah, this kind of melody comes in the background of the song" (I think he was referring to a melody, a countermelody)
and was interested in the ``strangeness of that combination.''
And the song that I felt was the most amazing at the time to study "harmony"
It was Vivaldi's ``The Four Seasons.''
In the past, I was just interested in that melody from ``Spring'' (which everyone probably knows), but later I picked up and analyzed the sounds on the guitar while looking at orchestral scores. Consideration? As I listened to it, I realized that it had been created with something incredibly profound in mind, and I was reminded once again of the depth of classical music and the importance of harmony.
(*This is just my opinion as a rock guitar player who was only thinking about fast playing at the time.)
...Something like that happened (that's what I remember)
By the way, the song "Four Seasons" is officially part of a collection of songs called "Attempts at Harmony and Creativity" and "Attempts at Harmony and Invention."
When I hear the word "invention," I think of Bach, and then the Well-Tempered Clavier comes to mind.
At the time, I wasn't very interested in this song (as I was a beginner in classical music), and I wondered why it was so famous.
However, I have heard from people in the classical music field that when you listen to the music in light of the period in which it was composed (historical background) and the various trial-and-error attempts made by the composer during the early years of music, it turns into something deeply moving.
This is an analog sound source from when I copied and practiced a violin string quartet score on an electric guitar (around 1993)
Back then, there wasn't an environment like now, so I didn't have any videos of myself playing, and since 2015 I've been wanting to record videos and keep it as a record, but it's difficult and it's not easy to play like it was back then, so I haven't been able to do it yet.
At least I made a TAB notation video for electric guitar.
~I can still (barely?) play the not-so-difficult songs, so I uploaded them to YouTube.
A long time ago, when a guitarist named Yngwie Malmsteen, who played classical phrases very quickly, made his debut, guitar players all over the world started playing classical music on the guitar.
It was one of the songs that got a lot of attention at that time, but at that time there was no one who could play it exactly the same way as the original, and there was no transcribed guitar TAB score, so I made it for my own practice as well.
(However, the arrangement of notes is different from that of a guitar, so it's difficult to play, and it's also fast, so you can't play it in the same way.)
When I was a beginner rock guitarist, I was thinking about Chopin's "Fantasie Impromptu" and through it I was thinking about classical music and piano music, and I felt a lot of things, so I'm going to record them here.
Left Hand Consideration..
focus on the lowest note
lowest note only
Focus on the lowest and highest notes
Now, let's listen to what happens when all the notes are played at the same volume.
