Where do you think I am now?
... I am in Tokushima, Shikoku!!!!
For the Obon holiday, Yoshi and I came to Osaka to see parents in law from Aug 13. My brother in law, Masa, and his wife and two-year-old daugher are also visiting them. Can you picture that there are 6 adults and a kid together in a small house? PACKED!!! I could hardly be relaxed in a bath room. Let alone in a wash room... I have been constipated for days... Anyway.
Masa and his wife Yuko had arranged for all of us to go on a short trip to Tokushima. For what? Of cause, it is Awa-Odori!!!! I heard that Tokushima is famous for the dance festival.
... The word is so true!!
I mean, I was just impressed by groups of the dancers in colorful Happi and Kimono. They were very good.
There were two sorts of dance in Awa-Odori. One is a dance for men and the other is for women. The male dance is cool'n dynamic and humorous. The female one is beautiful and graceful. Ah, their dance was so feminine with the kimono and the japanese special straw hat called Kasa.
People dance in groups. They cluster closely and dance in tune. I found the moves very beautiful.
The hotel we stayed gives their customers an opportunity to take part in the dance festival. They make a group of the customers and give them a brief lecture. Then the group takes part in the festival.
We participated! yey!! We became Odoru-Aho, which means dancing idiots in Japanese! There is a song for the dance, "dancing idiots and watching idiots. If both are idiots, it is more fun to be a dancing one." Isn't it true?
I never knew there was such an exciting festival here in Shikoku. I would really like to come back again. Ah, but I can't miss the fireworks festival in my home town. It is also spectacular!!

Can you pass my words to your mother? "Don't worry about your husband's octopus dance!! Because I looked like a robot when I was dancing."
heh, heh, heh
