核廃棄物を何万年も管理できるか？
国の原子力政策が頓挫している。その理由は、核廃棄物の最終処分の問題を先送りして原発建設を進めてきたが、東北大震災の際の原発事故で最終処分場を受け入れる自治体が無くなってしまったからである。
能登地震では、志賀原発が非稼動だったので難を免れたが、日本国民は原発に関して近頃幾度も恐い思いをしているので、核廃棄物を永久に保管しようという自治体はもう出ないに違いない。
日本という土地柄は、活断層の巣のようで地震が起きないという地域は無いと言ってもよい。しかも、放射性廃棄物が放射能を減らし安全になるまで何万年も要するという。
国家の寿命は長い方でも３００年程度なので、何万年も先の事を保障できる訳がない。
人類の組織や社会が約束できるのは、せいぜい１００年程度のもので、それ以上になれば約束自体も忘却の彼方に追いやられるのが落ちであろう。
Can nuclear waste be managed for tens of thousands of years?
The country's nuclear energy policy has stalled. In the Noto earthquake, we were spared because the Shiga nuclear power plant was not in operation, but the Japanese people have been scared of nuclear power so many times recently that no local government must be willing to store nuclear waste permanently.
It can be said that Japan's geographical features are riddled with active faults, and there is no region where earthquakes do not occur. Moreover, it will take tens of thousands of years for radioactive waste to reduce its radioactivity and become safe.
The lifespan of a nation is about 300 years at the longest, so there is no way we can guarantee what will happen tens of thousands of years into the future.
Human organizations and societies can only make promises for about 100 years at most, and if it goes beyond that, the promises themselves will likely be driven into oblivion.
