A political system that cannot reflect public opinion
Although it is simply called public opinion, there are many different types. There is the public will of certain people, and there is the public will of very general people. There may also be public wills that are in conflict with each other and contradict each other. Therefore, there are cases in which public will cannot be realized without amending or adjusting the public will itself.
With full understanding of these things, current Japanese politics is finding it difficult to reflect the very universal will of the people that everyone desires.
There is a disconnect between politics and the people, which is a problem with the political system itself. There is also the issue of the weight of votes being different between urban and rural areas, but the fact that the opportunities and means and procedure for people to express their opinions are not being taken into consideration is a major problem.
Politicians often comment on low voter turnout, but it would be misguided to ask people to take an interest in politics that does not adequately reflect public opinion.
