『日本書紀』欽明天皇 4
九月乙亥朔己卯、幸難波祝津宮、大伴大連金村・許勢臣稻持・物部大連尾輿等從焉。天皇問諸臣曰「幾許軍卒、伐得新羅。」物部大連尾輿等奏曰「少許軍卒、不可易征。曩者、男大迹天皇六年、百濟遣使表請任那上哆唎・下哆唎・娑陀・牟婁四縣、大伴大連金村輙依表請許賜所求。由是、新羅怨曠積年、不可輕爾而伐。」
於是、大伴大連金村、居住吉宅、稱疾不朝。天皇、遣靑海夫人勾子、慰問慇懃。大連怖謝曰「臣所疾者、非餘事也。今諸臣等謂臣滅任那。故恐怖不朝耳。」乃以鞍馬贈使、厚相資敬。靑海夫人、依實顯奏、詔曰「久竭忠誠、莫恤衆口。」遂不爲罪、優寵彌深。是年也、太歲庚申。
≪英訳≫
On the 5th day of the 9th month, His Majesty visited Naniwa Hafuritsu Palace. Accompanying him were Ōtomo no Ōmuraji Kanamura, Kose no Omi Inamochi, and Mononobe no Ōmuraji Okoshi.
The Emperor asked his ministers, “How many troops would be needed to conquer Silla(新羅)?” Mononobe no Ōmuraji Okoshi responded, “A small number of troops would not suffice to easily subdue them. In the past, during the 6th year of Emperor Keitai’s reign, Baekje sent envoys requesting the four districts of Upper Tari, Lower Tari, Sada, and Muro in Mimana. Ōtomo no Ōmuraji Kanamura, without much thought, granted them what they asked for. Because of this, Silla has long harbored resentment, and we should not hastily attack them.”
Because of this situation, Ōtomo no Ōmuraji Kanamura secluded himself in his residence at Suminoe, claiming illness and not attending court. The Emperor sent Aomi no Ōtoji Magariko to offer his personal and sincere consolations. Ōmuraji, deeply humbled, said, “The illness I suffer is not physical. The other ministers are accusing me of causing the downfall of Mimana, and because of my fear, I have not appeared at court.” He then sent a decorated horse to the envoy as a gesture of respect.
Aomi no Ōtoji reported back truthfully, and the Emperor issued an edict, saying, “You have long demonstrated your loyalty and devotion, so there is no need to worry about the rumors of others.” Thus, no blame was placed upon him, and his treatment by the court became even more generous.
That year was the year of the Kōshin(庚申).
≪この英文の和訳≫
九月五日、天皇は難波（なにわ）の祝津宮（はふりつのみや）にお出ましになった。これに随行したのは、大伴大連（おおとものおおむらじ）金村（かなむら）、許勢臣（こせのおみ）稲持（いなもち）、物部大連（もののべのおおむらじ）尾輿（おこし）であった。
天皇は諸臣にお尋ねになり、「新羅（しらぎ）を討つには、どれほどの兵力が必要であろうか」と仰せになった。物部大連尾輿が奏上して申し上げた。「わずかな兵力では容易に新羅を討つことはできません。かつて、継体天皇の六年に、百済が使者を遣わして任那（みまな）の上哆唎（おこしたり）、下哆唎（あるしたり）、娑陀（さだ）、牟婁（むろ）の四県を求めた際、大伴大連金村は簡単にその願いを許可されました。このため、新羅は長年にわたって怨みを抱き続けており、軽々しく討つべきではありません」と。
このような事態により、大伴大連金村は住吉（すみのえ）の自邸にこもり、病を理由に朝廷に出仕しなかった。天皇は、青海夫人（あおみのおおとじ）勾子（まがりこ）を遣わし、丁寧にお慰めになった。大連金村は恐縮し、「私が患っておりますのは他の理由ではなく、諸臣が私を任那を滅ぼした者だと言っているため、その恐れから朝廷に参上できないのです」と申し上げた。そして、飾り馬を使者に贈り、厚く敬意を示した。青海夫人勾子はそのままの事実を天皇にお伝えした。
天皇は詔（みことのり）して仰せられた。「長年、忠誠を尽くしてきたゆえに、人々の噂を気にする必要はない」と。こうして、罪に問われることはなく、かえってより厚い寵愛を受けることとなった。
この年は庚申（かのえさる）の年であった。
