『日本書紀』舒明天皇 7
吾曾將訊叔父之病、向京而居豐浦寺。是日、天皇遣八口采女鮪女、詔之曰『汝叔父大臣常爲汝愁言、百歲之後嗣位非當汝乎。故、愼以自愛矣。』既分明有是事、何疑也。然、我豈餮天下、唯顯聆事耳。則天神地祇共證之。是以、冀正欲知天皇之遺勅。亦大臣所遣群卿者、從來如嚴矛嚴矛、此云伊箇之倍虛取中事而奏請人等也。故、能宜白叔父。」
既而泊瀬仲王、別喚中臣連・河邊臣謂之曰「我等父子並自蘇我出之、天下所知。是以、如高山恃之。願嗣位勿輙言。」
≪英訳≫
I once intended to visit my uncle during his illness, so I went to the capital (Asuka) and stayed at Toyura Temple (豊浦寺). On that day, the Emperor sent Yakuchi no Uneme Shibime (八口采女鮪女) to convey the following decree:
“Your uncle, the Ōomi (大臣), was always concerned about you and often said, ‘One day, the imperial throne may rightfully pass to you.’ Therefore, conduct yourself with caution and take good care of yourself.”
Since this matter has already been made clear, what is there to doubt? However, I have no desire to seize the realm—I merely wish to clarify what I have heard. Even the deities of heaven and earth (天神地祇) bear witness to this. Thus, I earnestly wish to know the late Emperor’s final decree (遺勅).
Furthermore, the nobles sent by the Ōomi (大臣) have always acted as those who stand an upright and unyielding spear (厳矛, Ikashihoko). They are individuals whose duty is to convey the words of their sovereigns with fairness and integrity. Therefore, I ask you to properly convey this message to my uncle.”
Later, Hatsuse no Naka no Ō (泊瀬仲王) separately summoned Nakatomi no Muraji (中臣連) and Kawabe no Omi (河辺臣) and said to them:
“As everyone knows, my father and I—our entire family—are descended from the Soga clan (蘇我氏). Thus, we rely upon the Soga, as one relies on a towering mountain. I ask that you refrain from speaking too freely about the matter of imperial succession (皇嗣).”
≪この英文の和訳≫
私はかつて叔父の病気を見舞おうと思い、都（飛鳥）へ行き、豊浦寺(とゆらでら)に滞在していた。その日、天皇は八口采女鮪女(やくちのうねめしびめ)を遣わされ、次のように詔(みことのり)を賜った。
「汝の叔父である大臣(おおおみ)は、常に汝のことを案じ、『いつの日か、皇位はお前に継がれることになるのではないか』と語っていた。ゆえに、行いを慎み、自らを大切にするように」
すでにこのように明白な言葉を賜ったのである。何を疑うことがあろうか。しかし、私は天下を欲するつもりはない。ただ、自らが聞いたことを明らかにするのみである。このことは、天神地祇(てんじんちぎ)も証明しておられる。したがって、私は天皇の遺勅(ゆいちょく)を正しく知りたいと願っている。
また、大臣が遣わした群卿(ぐんけい)たちは、もとより厳矛(いかしほこ)をまっすぐに立てるように、公正に主君の言葉を伝えることを本分とする者たちである。ゆえに、叔父へよく伝えていただきたい」と述べた。
その後、泊瀬仲王(はつせのなかのみこ)は、別に中臣連(なかとみのむらじ)と河辺臣(かわべのおみ)を呼び、こう告げた。
「周知のとおり、我ら父子（聖徳太子とその子たち）は、皆、蘇我(そが)氏の出である。ゆえに、蘇我を高山のように頼みとしている。皇位継承については、あまり口にしないでほしい」
このように語ったのである。
