イエスは、道を通りながら、アルパヨの子レビが取税所にすわっているのをご覧になって、「わたしについて来なさい」と言われた。すると彼は立ち上がって従った。
それから、イエスは、彼の家で食卓に着かれた。取税人や罪人たちも大ぜい、イエスや弟子たちといっしょに食卓に着いていた。こういう人たちが大ぜいいて、イエスに従っていたのである。
パリサイ派の律法学者たちは、イエスが罪人や取税人たちといっしょに食事をしておられるのを見て、イエスの弟子たちにこう言った。「なぜ、あの人は取税人や罪人たちといっしょに食事をするのですか。」
イエスはこれを聞いて、彼らにこう言われた。「医者を必要とするのは丈夫な者ではなく、病人です。わたしは正しい人を招くためではなく、罪人を招くために来たのです。」 マルコの福音書２章１４～１７節

As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “ Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.
Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi's house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”
When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “ Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
