北海道帯広へ Hokkaido Obihiro

千歳空港から帯広へ

I started a Hokkaido sight-seeing tour from Chitose Airport.

First I drove to Obihiro, famous for its huge flats and dairy farming.

途中、星野リゾートトマムの高層タワーが見られます

On the way to Obihiro, you can see towers of Hoshino Resort Tomamu.

 

家畜改良センター十勝牧場

JR帯広駅から車で30分、観光牧場ではありませんが展望台まで行くことができます。眺めは最高ですが、砂利道を延々10分ほど走るので、車を汚したくない人は無理かも

今回は放牧風景が見れず残念　白樺並木も素敵です。

National Livestock Breeding Center(NLBC), Tokachi Station

Started as a horse stock farm, NLBC was reconstructed as a breeding stock farm after WW2, and has been focusing on improving and breeding dairy cattle, beef cattle, swine and poultry to meet wider variety of food demand.

It takes about 30 minutes from JR Obihiro Station by car. Though this farm isn’t for tourists, you can go to an observation deck and enjoy wonderful scenery of Tokachi flats, but you have to go through a gravel path by car about 10 minutes to get to the deck. Avenues of white birch trees are also beautiful.

*The annual average temperature is 5.9℃.  25.5℃ in August and -16.2℃ in January (the lowest -29℃).

This area has low rainfall. The annual precipitation is 936 millimeters. (informed by the signboard by the observation deck)
