Sandstone in Sydney

2012年07月15日 | 地質・地形・地球科学
The Australian Continent, geologidally has a long history.
We can see the very good sandstone in Sydney.

St. Mery's Cathedral

South Cape of Watsons Bay

This sandstone was formed before the Precambrian area (older then 10 hundred million years).

The people has utilized it in the houses, bildings, and road-paving in the streets.

When the sandstones are eroded, they produce the beautiful sand of quartz.

I took this photo at Bondai Beach near Sydney.

The people enjoys in such the beautiful beach.
