My first post of the year is about a dress for a mother to wear to her daughter's wedding. It was remade from a formal kimono (houmongi).
It features an auspicious pattern of cranes in flight on a soft gray background.
The pattern matching turned out very well, with powerful cranes flying near the neckline.
I understand the wedding is in early February. I'm glad I finished it in time!

I created a reversible hat using the leftover fabric from a reversible coat I previously made. It was just enough fabric to make one hat. This is an original Rurimon design.
Since both the coat and the hat are reversible, you can enjoy them in 6 different ways.
After making items like coats, you often have leftover fabric that's not quite enough for another full piece... We welcome your consultations and orders.

I received a hand-woven Tsumugi kimono fabric and remade it into a lined blouse.
With a sample blouse of the same design and size, it took some time but the tailoring proceeded smoothly.
I was meticulous about the details as always - pattern matching and buttonholes with piped edges - and a lovely blouse jacket was completed!
I heard you have a gathering in January, so I'm really glad it was finished in time!

I remade a coat from a hand-woven kimono fabric with an orange pattern. This time, the client loved the Rurikon original design, and the sample coat fit perfectly, so I only needed to adjust the sleeve length. I cut and sewed the coat in one go without a preliminary fitting, carefully matching the pattern with precision. I finished the buttonholes with a piped edge. This kimono fabric coat is versatile and can be worn during three seasons except for the height of summer. Of course, since it's silk, it's light and warm. I'm looking forward to delivering this piece.

I received a beautiful purple kimono and remade it into a dress. Of course, everything from the design to the size was fully customized. Since the kimono had many patterns, I carefully pieced them together to match the designs, and was able to use plenty of the pattern on both sleeves. Even when patterns match well on a kimono, making them align properly when remaking it into Western-style clothing can be quite challenging. I was able to use every part of the kimono without waste, and it turned into a truly wonderful dress! Thank you very much.

We received two kimonos and remade them into a reversible coat.
This reversible coat will be very useful in the coming season. As it's silk on both sides, it's incredibly light!
Moreover, since it's made from your own two kimonos, it's a one-of-a-kind piece. Both sides have vibrant colors, so you can enjoy wearing it either way.
We chose thin mother-of-pearl buttons for both sides. Selecting buttons is also one of the joys of the process.
The buttonholes are bound on both sides - a true testament to craftsmanship!
Now that we can finally feel the autumn breeze, we're looking forward to the day we can deliver this coat to you.

I have received a piece of Kurume kasuri fabric and remade it into a long blouse.
Kurume kasuri is a traditional craft that has been loved for many years due to its beautiful patterns and high practicality. Although machine-woven fabrics have become more common recently, the piece I received is an impressive hand-woven one with a distinctive pattern.
Being made of cotton, it is highly durable and resistant to washing. It is said to retain its color well even after long-term use and develop a richer texture over time.
Furthermore, it has excellent breathability, making it particularly comfortable to wear in the summer.

Hello, this is Gallery Rurimen/Rurimon, a shop specializing in kimono remodeling and kimono reformation in Yokohama Aobadai!
We received a visiting kimono and remodeled it into a long blouse. It's an original Rurimen design with a puffy, triangular gusset on the sides.
Being single-layered, it's washable and comfortable for sweating. The lining is neatly finished with piping instead of a lock stitch. The buttonholes are meticulously made with a ball-edged stitch. Of course, the length of the body and sleeves are customized to the customer's preferences. We take precise measurements to ensure a flattering fit.
