It is Japanese doll's festival today!
... I don't do anything to celebrate it, though.
No dolls, no feast, no drink... but just one of my ordinary days.
One good thing today was that it was pleasantly sunny.
..... oh? It's overcast now.. ho-hum.
Yoshi was supposed to have a meeting from 1 p.m. so I drove him to school.
To pick him up at 4, I was going to catch a movie to kill time.
My cell phone rang in the nick of time when I tried to get a ticket.
It was Yoshi saying "The meeting appears to be cancelled..." I was like "What do you mean? Did you get the last-minute notice but you didn't check the e-mail or something? " He said "I HAVE NO IDEA!! People just don't show up except for Young( one of his team mates.)!!"
So I hurried back to school to pick him up. Of course I didn't see a movie. No, that was no problem. I can go to a movie any time else.
On the way back home, Yoshi told me what was going on.
Things are like these;
The team was going to have a meeting today.
One of them was supposed to compile the first half of their studies by today but he couldn't make it. He couldn't help it because his midterm exam is also coming up. So he e-mailed everyone that his work will be late.
The people except for Yoshi and Young seemed to assume that they would have nothing to work on in the meeting without the compilation.
Thus, they didn't show up.
According to Yoshi, the guy who is compiling stuffs are doing only its first half. They need to have a meeting anyway to discuss the second half and blah, blah, blah..... Yoshi was mad.
(As for me, this is completely none of my business so I don't care!!)
Some of you may know that people majoring MBA (master of business administration) are, generally speaking, "elite". They are supposed to be well-educated and have excellent work experience.
I can't criticize them because I am totally out of the loop (and I can never be involved!). BUT.... Aren't they just too .... inefficient for so-called elite?? I mean, they have been working on the same project for 6 months but they are now trying to do everything all over again!( According to Yoshi.) Hey, you know what? The dead line is in a week but hey have no intention of having another meeting...
I can tell that those kind of "elite" tend to want to make things perfect. They want perfection at all cost. In other word, that attitude brings them into elite.
... But, hey, let's look at the real world. You are doing simulated consulting for a company. If it were real, the company would go bankrupt with such inefficient consultants like you... Some kind of pros and cons may be conflicting in the team, I know that. But ...
Oh, no. I don't know...
I used to be like them. I had too high self-esteem that I never compromise once I made a decision. I always believe that I was always right. Silly me, I didn't try to see the worth of other people's opinions. I even felt that people were just against me! There are as many wonderful opinions as the number of people in the world but I missed them all...
Their story sounds just like me in those days.
The bottom line is, Yoshi! I believe he can fix them all and make the delayed project back on track !! I don't understand why he doesn't make a difference when he knows how to do it. He has broad views. He knows what is urgent and what is crap.
Besides, he has experiences in persuading people at the site of presentation. He knows how to mingle with people and tell his opinion without any hard feelings to give. Yes, he is sufficient in social skills!
Stop grumbling and make a difference, Yoshi!!
..... Oh, by the way, the cloud has gone away and it is sunny again!
All in all, it was a pleasant day today.

Let's coast it rather than try to ace it OK??
Yoshiのあきらめ具合
