The soft wool dress with its loose cowl neck and gathered sleeves was a subtle, dusty shade of pink and it looked nice, red hair or no.
（ゆるいオフタートルとさりげないギャザー袖のソフトウールのドレスは、くすんだようなスモーキーピンク色で、髪が赤くてもそうでなくても素敵に見えるのだ。）
A true pink would have been anybody's nightmare.
（真のピンク色は、誰が着ても悪夢にしかならないだろうけど。）
❛Don't tell me you expected green,❜ said Faye, and he shook his head.
（「緑色を着てくると思ったなんて、言わないでよね」とフェイが言うと、彼は首を振った。）
❛An original like you would come up with something else, I knew that.
（「君みたいな独創的なタイプは、僕が知らないような何かを思いつくものさ。）
You look gorgeous, but starving. Let's go.❜

From beside his chair he picked up a Stetson and positioned it on his head, then leaped up and helped her into her coat before he picked up his own from a chair.
（傍らの椅子からステッソンを取り、頭に据えると自分のコートを取る前に彼女がコートを着るのを手伝った。）
It was a short sheepskin affair with thick wool curling around the edges.
（フカフカの羊毛を身にまとう、ちょっとした出来事だった。）
He looked magnificent, Faye had to admit.
（彼は極上の男だとフェイは認めざるを得なかった。）
With the widebrimmed hat and those leather boots he had Texas written all over him, without even having to open his mouth.
（つば広の帽子と皮のブーツが、口を開かなくても彼がテキサス人だと物語っている。）
【一言メモ】今までの人生で「極上の男」だと思う男性を見つけたことは、あるような、ないような？？？という感じです。素敵だなと思った男性でも、ひとつくらいは嫌な面があるものですし、それは私自身もそうだと思います。そもそも、何をもって「極上」とするのでしょうか？容姿？性格？経済力？頭脳明晰？美的センス？
なかなか、判断基準が難しいですね。。。
