Motorola is updating the Moto X Pure Edition to Android 7.0 Nougat in the US

It's been almost a year since Motorola didn't release any updates for the Moto X Pure Edition in the United States, not even the usual security patches that Google launches every month.

If you've been holding on to this particular asus zenfone 5 battery in the hopes that Motorola will finally do the right thing, then you're in luck. Apparently, many Moto X Pure Edition owners across the United States report they have successfully captured the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update.

Although Motorola didn't even update the smartphone to Android 7.1.1, at least it included the September security patch, the latest security update released by Google.

The Moto X Pure Edition got updated to Android Nougat in other countries a few months ago, but users in the United States had to wait until now to be able to upgrade their asus parts .

Nougat is probably the last major Android OS update that the Moto X Pure Edition, also known as Moto X Style in other countries, will receive, so if you're expecting to get some Oreo love, then you will have to switch to a newer device.

Last year, a friend of mine "finally got rid of the iPhone," as he put it. This wasn't as big a deal as one might imagine, though. He hadn't been using strictly iPhones for years, and suddenly saw the light or anything. He switches phones, and platforms, pretty often, so when he decided to pick up Google's Pixel XL, I wasn't too surprised. Neither was he, probably.

I was a bit surprised when he said that he was planning on switching back to the asus parts , though, after Apple unveiled the iPhone X. He seems pretty content with the Pixel XL, and, honestly, I figured he'd just upgrade to the Pixel 2 XL when that arrived. I didn't think he'd even consider going back to the iPhone, since he's a Windows PC user and Android works so well with that particular desktop platform (among other reasons).

But, as he put it, he wants "the best possible camera in a smartphone."

Of course, when he told me all that Google hadn't announced its own plans to unveil the next big flagship from its own ranks. So, when they did, my friend decided he'd wait to see how that phone compared to Apple's. Would Google reduce the bezels in a meaningful way with the new big handset? Would it have a camera that surpassed the great shooter in the original Pixel lineup?

He's interested to see what Google comes up with. I'm sure the company will work to make their new smartphone camera(s) top-of-the-line, just as they were last year. And I can certainly understand where he's coming from. There camera in our smartphones is the easiest way to capture memories, and making sure it's the best one available makes sense.

It got me thinking about priorities, though. The iPhone has always had a focus on the camera, or at least tried to, and it's always been a selling point for Apple's smartphone. But of course the industry caught up, and now we've got great ipad air 2 screen cameras in almost every device out there. Yeah, you can find faults with all of them, but in most cases, and for most people, the camera in their phone is more than good enough for the pictures they want to take.

iPhone 8 cracking earpiece problem confirmed by Apple, fix is in the works

In the days following the iPhone 8’s launch, some owners are reporting a crackling sound in their earpiece during a call. Today Apple confirmed the issue and its plan to address it.

Apple says that a “small number” of samsung battery original owners have experienced a crackling sound in their device’s earpiece during a call. Reports of the issue have popped up on internet forums, including Reddit and Apple’s own support forum.

As for what it’s going to do to address the problem, Apple says that it’s working on a fix that’ll be included in a future software update.

“We are aware of the issue which is affecting customers in a small number of cases. Our team is at work on a fix, which will be included in an upcoming software release.”

It’s unclear exactly what’s causing the problem, as it seems to be affecting iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus owners around the world.
