How to fix 7 annoyances in iOS 11

2017-10-11 10:30:03 | Samsung Galaxy S8

There's an adjustment period with any new iOS. New features get added. Things get moved around. If some of iOS 11's changes have left you feeling frustrated, then perhaps the following seven fixes will have you feeling better about yourself and your updated samsung s7 edge screen price or iPad.

1. Stop autoplay videos in the App Store

Auto-play videos are everywhere you turn, which you have probably noticed if you have visited Facebook, Twitter or pretty much any website lately. With iOS 11, auto-play videos have come to the redesigned App Store. If you don't want demos of games and other apps to automatically start playing when you are scrolling through the App Store, it's easy to disable them. Open Settings, go to iTunes & App Store, tap Video Autoplay and select Off.

2. Put an end to app rating requests

Apps asking you for your thoughts and opinion isn't new to iOS 11, but a setting to disable them is. Now, you can put an end to an app interrupting you with a request for you to rate it. Head to Settings > iTunes & App Store and toggle off In-App Ratings & Reviews.

3. Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for reals

The buttons in the Control Center for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi no longer turn off your device's Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios. Instead, they simply disconnect you from devices and networks so you can continue to use AirDrop and AirPlay and the Apple Pencil and the Apple Watch. Read Rick Broida's informative post on the topic for more detail, but the short of it is you need to dig into Settings to actually turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Those paths: Settings > Bluetooth > Off and Settings > Wi-Fi > Off.

4. What to do with screenshot thumbnails

I agree, the new iOS 11 screenshot tool is awesome. But if you want to take a screenshot and quickly save it to your camera roll without editing or annotating it, then you might get annoyed by the thumbnail preview that appears in the lower left corner of the screen. Turns out, you can just ignore them. Better yet, swipe to get rid of them. You do not need to tap on the thumbnail, tap

Done and then tap Save to Photos to save a screenshot. Just let the thumbnail disappear after a few seconds or flick it away -- either way, it'll be saved to your photos.

5. Uncover the hidden auto-brightness setting

The auto-brightness control has moved from its logical spot in the Display & Brightness page in Settings. Where did it go? It's now hiding out in the Accessibility page. Follow this path to find it: Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations.

6. No Night Shift in Control Center?

There are many new buttons you can add to the revamped Control Center, but the Night Shift button it not one of them. It is, however, only a 3D Touch or long-press away. Call up the Control Center and 3D Touch or long-press the brightness slider and you'll see the Night Shift button at the bottom of the screen.

7. Declutter the iPad's busy keyboard

This one is iPad-only. With iOS 11 s7 edge screen , the iPad's keyboard gets double-mapped keys to make it easy to access symbols and numbers, which you might find to be #convenient. If you can't get the hang of the flick gesture to type a key's secondary symbol, however, and want to return to the old iPad keyboard without the double-mapped keys, head to Settings > General > Keyboard and toggle off Enable Key Flicks.

LG G30 review: A flagship that's not just for creatives

2017-10-09 11:00:58 | Samsung Galaxy S8

LG has officially launched the LG V30, the third iteration of its V series with the aim of changing the opinion of this family of samsung note 5 display price . The thing that's always been slightly strange about the V models is the limited availability and the strong focus on advanced video capture skills.

In fact, LG found through its own research that people saw the V device as something for professionals. That's not what the V series is really about and the best manifestation of that is the LG V30, which is every inch a flagship handset to compete with the best out there.

We've had our hands on a pre-production model and been using it since launch. We've taken quite a shine to it.

LG V30 preview: Design

Both LG and Samsung have made a major shift in smartphone design in 2017 and that's adopting a different screen aspect. The advantage this move makes is allowing lots of screen space without the phone getting too wide in the hand.

For the LG V30, that means a display that measures 6-inches on the diagonal, yet a body width that's only about that of a 5.3-inch device. Reducing the front bezels top and bottom and shifting away as much of the clutter to maximise display space dominated the LG G6 design, an act repeated on the LG V30.

For the V30 the result feels more accomplished in the hand than the LG G6 ever did. The metal core of this phone creates the edges, while the Gorilla Glass 5 front and back of phone curve neatly to meet those edges. It's smooth, it's sleek, it's very refined, but it's also a great size too. This shift in display aspect isn't just a fad - even Apple is embracing it with the iPhone X. Remember - LG did it first.

Coming in four colours - Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Cloud Silver, Lavender Violet - it's the silver we have in hand here and it looks great. There's a depth to that rear colouration, it's not a flat silver like the metal lg g3 screen replacement of 2016, thanks to the use of glass. LG has also tidied up the rear space, shrinking the rear camera for a better look overall.

The Pixel 2 just stole one of iOS 11's best features

2017-10-07 10:06:10 | Samsung Galaxy S8

With iOS 11, Apple's iPhones can now automatically silence all notifications and alerts when the nexus 5x battery replacement determines you're driving-- to keep you focused on the road.

Now, Google is cribbing that handy feature for the new Pixel 2and Pixel 2 XL.

The new Pixel Ambient Services app, which will come preinstalled on Google's latest flagships, includes the feature -- though it's off by default. You'll need to enable it in the Do Not Disturb settings before it starts checking to see if you're driving.

The app says it uses a combination of Bluetooth and device motion to tell, presumably by checking whether your nexus 6p battery replacement 's accelerometers are bouncing around and if your phone's Bluetooth radio sees opportunities to connect to Bluetooth-enabled cars.

Note the app is exclusive to the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL for now -- you can't install it on earlier Pixel devices (we checked) and it's not part of a broader Android release that phonemakers can add to their new devices, either.

But don't rule that out: It's CNET's understanding that Google's collecting feedback before deciding whether to roll out the feature more broadly. Like Google Lens, another feature that'll be exclusive to Pixel at launch, it may arrive on other devices soon.
