今日は七夕。週末に近所の花屋さんで1.5メートル位の笹を買ってきて家族みんなで飾り付けをしました。娘はハサミで折り紙を短冊の形に切ったり、短冊にお絵描きしたり（まだ字は書けないので）楽しんでいました。
笹は一本１５０円。安いのか高いのか。買ってきた時は青々としていましたが、エアコンのきいた乾燥した室内に置いておいたせいか数時間で葉っぱが萎れてしまいました。
娘は短冊に家族の似顔絵を、私は英語で願い事を。その他の飾りは妻が担当しました。家で七夕の飾りなんて作るのは小学生の時以来。作業をしていると懐かしい記憶がよみがってきたんですよ！手先の感覚なんかも。覚えているものなのですね。人間の記憶ってすごいなあと思いました（一方で英単語は全然記憶に留まってくれないのが悲しい）。
apple watch2の画面の下部分にひびが入ってしまいました。子供と行った近所の公園の水飲み場でぶつけた時に割れたっぽいです。手放せない相棒だけにショックでした。でも数年前に買ったこのapple watch series2、動作が遅く感じる時が出てきました。お気に入りのジョギングアプリ"Nike Run Club"も起動してくれない時がよくあり困っていました。
常時画面が点灯（series4まで腕を顔に向けないと点灯しない）しているseries5にすぐにでも買い替えたい気持ちもありつつ、9月に発表されるであろう"6"を待つべきか。そもそも仕事もろくにないこんな時期に買い物をする必要があるのか？否、こういう大変な時こそ気持ちを鼓舞するために新たなgadgetを買うべき！などいろんな意見が自分の中で飛び交っています笑。
“Tanabata” is the Star Festival held on July 7th. It is to celebrate the once-a-year meeting of two lovers who lived in the Heavens. According to the ancient legend, a beautiful princess called Orihime whose job it was to weave beautiful robes and a handsome cowherd, Hikoboshi, fell in love each other. They were so happy together. But no more robes were being woven, and cows the cowherd supposed to take care of began to stray wildly. So the God of the Heavens got angry at them and ordered them not to see each other anymore. They apologized and pleaded and promised to do their work if only the God would let them stay together. Finally, the God agreed to a compromise and allowed them to see each other, but only once a year. The day the God selected was the seventh day of the seventh month.
Today, the weaver-princess can be found as the star of Vega, and the cowherd’s star is Altair. The two special stars are seen on each side of the Milky Way. People hope for clear skies on July 7th so that two lovers can cross the Milky Way safely and reunite with each other.
During the period of the Festival in Japan, Christmas tree-like bamboo decorations are seen everywhere. People write their wishes on the slips of colored paper and attache them onto the branches of bamboo.
