東京・新宿バスタを昨夜22:25pmに出て、5:00am、上高地に到着!
I left Shinjuku, Tokyo for Kamikouchi at 22:25pm by bus.
The bus reached Kamikouchi bus terminal at 5:00am on the next day.
寒いです。辺りは真っ暗だけど、死ぬほど寒いです😣
でも、屋内の待ち合い室は、6:00amまで開きません。なぜに～～😱?
It was freezing, but everybody had to wait outside until 6:00am to enter the places with windows! Unbelieavable!
昨日、上高地のバスターミナル近くの山にも初雪が降ったようです❗
They said it snowed for the first time in this autumn on the mountains around the bus terminal.
トイレはキレイで温かめですが、環境保全費として100円払ってください。
The restroom is clean and neat. Please pay 100 yen for nature preservation.

1927年（昭和2年）に発表された芥川龍之介の小説「河童」で、広く知られるようになったそうです。
The bridge became famous throughout Japan from the short story "Kappa" published in 1927, which was written by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, one of Japan's greatest authors.
朝7時前、橋の上は凍っていて滑りやすかったです。でも景色は最高！
The surface of the bridge was fronzen and slippery, but...look at the mountains with snow as well as autumn leaves. So beautiful!

因みに、穂高岳とは、 奥穂高岳（3,190m/日本で3番目の高さ・写真中央）、涸沢岳、北穂高岳、前穂高岳、西穂高岳、明神岳などの峰々からなる穂高連峰の総称
Mt. Hotaka (Mt. Hotakadake) has several peaks like Okuhotaka, Karasawa, Kitahotake, Maehotaka, and Nishihotaka. They are called the Hotaka Mountains. The highest peak in this range is Mt. Okuhotaka, the third highest mountain in Japan.(3,190m/10,466ft/the center mountain of this picture)
河童橋から明神橋へ
From Kappa-bashi Bridge to Myojin-bashi Bridge
明神橋までは約1時間です。梓川の右岸ルートの景色は、とても趣があります。
It takes about an hour to reach Myojin-bashi Bridge. If you take the route on the right side of the Azusa-gawa River, you can enjoy the nice scenery.

穂高神社奥宮 Hotaka Rear Shrine Okumiya
明神橋のほんの少し手前に、穂高神社奥宮があります。見どころは、神社境内にある明神池！別名「鏡池」「神池」とも呼ばれ、とにかく神秘的です。
境内に入るのに、300円かかりますが、絶対に見ていただきたい！
On the way, just before Myojin-bashi Bridge, stands Hotaka Rear Shrine Okumiya.
In the shrine sanctuary, there is Pond Myojin. It is also called "Mirror-pond" or "Deity-pond". It is so mysterious and looks like a real mirror which reflects Mt. Myojin (a ridge of Mt. Hotaka)
It costs 300yen to enter but it is worth it. Don't miss it!

Pond Myojin is incredibly beautiful like a real mirror especilly when it is fine. Can you tell where the pond's edge is?

私は高所恐怖症なので、水の中を覗き込むと、山の頂上にいるような錯覚で、足がすくんでしまいました
Looking into the water, I felt as if I were on the top of the mountain. As I am acrophobic, I was so scared.

やはり1時間ほどですが、少登り道があります。
It takes about one hour. You have to go up a slight slope.

上高地は、長野県松本市にある標高1,500mの梓川沿いの山岳景勝地で、中部山岳国立公園（新潟・富山・長野・岐阜の4県にまたがる）内の、北アルプスと呼ばれる飛騨山脈中央にあります。
上高地は1896年（明治29年）に、イギリス人宣教師として来日したウォルター・ウェストンが著した「日本アルプス登山と探検」で、穂高連峰、槍ヶ岳とともに紹介され、有名になりました。その時、彼を案内したのが、上條嘉門次です。
1975年（昭和50年）には、自然保護を目的にマイカー規制を開始。行くのは多少不便ですが、それだけに、素晴らしい自然を満喫できる場所です。
Kamikochi (altitude approx. 1,500m/Matsumoto-city in Nagano) is in Chubu Sangaku National Park (spreding over Nigata, Toyama, Nagano, Gifu pref.), located in the center of the Hida mountain Range (also called the Northern Japan Alps).
The Azusa river flows through the Kamikochi basin and presents beautiful scenery of the valley.

Walter Weston, an Engllish clergyman, who visited Kamikochi and climbed Mt. Hotaka and Mt. Yari, wrote about his experiences in "Mountaineering and Exploration in the Japan Alps". He helped to establish the first Japanese Alpine Club in 1905 and became known as "The Father of Mountaineering in Japan". Kamijo Kamonji showed him around as a local guide at that time.
In 1975 ban on private cars was introduced to preserve nature. Though it is rather inconvenient to reach Kamikochi, you can fully enjoy marvelous nature.
任務上、ホテルの施設見学とアクセスの確認に時間を取られ、雄大な自然を満喫する余裕が無かったのが残念でなりません。
