English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.
Today, I'd like to write about the last one of our seven unique attempts to help students improve their English skills at our English school.
Our school, English Plus, is a small English school, but we're serious about helping our students improve their English skills, and we are trying to provide some supports and several approaches.
There are actually seven approaches we are trying to provide, and today let's check the last one.
The last one is about our student-centered lessons.
At English Plus, we provide lessons for adults (e.g. TOEIC exam preparation course, Skill-Up Conversation course, and so on), and for kids (e.g. Elementary school English course, and Junior high school English course).
No matter what lessons our students take, in each lesson, there is time for "learning" and "practicing" English.
In order for our students to learn English more effectively, each lesson has a lesson point and they learn the point by listening, speaking, reading and writing.
After they learn the lesson point fully, they practice English using the lesson point.
It's up to each student about how to use the lesson point during the lesson, and we encourage our students to use the point and communicate in English a lot.
To help them improve their communication skills, we have "student-centered lesson", and we try not to make "a teacher asks a question and a student answers" situation.
Instead, we try to make "student A asks a question to student B" situations in our lessons.
This communication between students requires some skills, such as "make a question and ask → listen to the question correctly → answer the question → make a reaction and ask a following question → continue..."
At English Plus, we help our students to acquire these basic English skills through our lessons and self-study support.
We'll continue supporting our students to improve their English skills from now on too.
