Since February 8, we've been holding a winter promotion at English Plus cafe.
This is about "when you order in ENGLISH at English Plus cafe, you can get 100yen off discount!!"; however, this promotion is not valid with the other discounts.
As this campaign is very popular with the customers at our English Plus cafe, we've decided to continue until March 10th!!

このキャンペーンは“English Plusカフェで５００円以上の物を英語で注文をすると１００円オフ！”というキャンペーンで、本来であれば本日２月２９日をもって終了の予定でした。

小さな英語学校のユニークなポイント - 一人ひとりの英語力アップのためのアフターレッスンのケア

Good morning and I thank you for checking out English Plus blog!
(Also, thank you for all those who joined yesterday's kids lesson!!)
Today, I'd like to write about one of English Plus school's unique points.
At English Plus school, our English instructors give a lesson feedback at the end of each lesson.
With this feedback, our students can notice what is wrong with their grammar and vocabulary by themselves! (Some students really like this feedback!)
Since this January, I've been making a review test for each student with this feedback.
I just started giving it to some students and their responses so far have been positive!
I'll continue this feedback & feedback test for each student and support their improvements in English!!

本日は“小さな英語学校のユニークなポイント - 一人ひとりの英語力アップのためのアフターレッスンのケア”です。

English Plusの英語学校の英語講師は、各レッスンの終わりにフィードバックをしています。

このフィードバックをすることで、生徒の方自ら自分の文法・語彙の使い方の間違いに気付いています。（気付くことで次回から同じ間違いを気をつけるため、このフィードバックを気に入ってくれている生徒の方もいらっしゃいます！）

実は、このフィードバックを使った“一人ひとりの英語力アップのためのフィードバックテスト（復習テスト）”を今年始めのレッスンから始めました！

そろそろ一人ひとりのフィードバックテストを作成し始めてから２ヶ月が経過してきており、徐々に生徒の方々に配りはじめたところ、すぐに取り組み・提出する生徒の方もいらっしゃり、反応は上々です！

今後もこのフィードバックを続けると同時に生徒の方々の英語力アップのサポートをし続けていきたいと思います！

English Plusカフェメニューのリニューアル計画中

Good morning and thanks a million to check out English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to write about one of our plans at English Plus Cafe.
These days, while I have lunch with the staff members at English Plus, our conversation topic is mainly about the cafe menu at English Plus.
Currently, we're thinking about changing our cafe menu so we're talking about it most often!
We'd like to make our menu more unique and more original!
So, we're thinking about using more rice flour, maple syrup and so on.
We would like to get the new menu started in March.
When the time comes, I'll surely let you know in this blog!

本日は“English Plusカフェメニューのリニューアル計画中”です。

スタッフと一緒にお昼を食べている時間、最近の会話のトピックはEnglish Plusカフェのメニューのことが多いです。

最近になって本格的にメニューをリニューアルしよう！と言うことになっているため、自然とこの話題になることが多いのですが、リニューアルの目的は“もっとユニークでオリジナルな物の提供”を考えているからです。

今までのところ、米粉やメープルシロップなど自然の甘味料を使ったメニューなどを考えています！

まだまだスタッフと共に、考え中の段階ですが３月くらいにはメニューを新しくしたいと思っています。

新しいメニューになり次第、またこのブログやホームページでお知らせしたいと思います。

Today, let's learn and practice some English (adjectives) to describe people's condition.
It's Friday today!
How is your week so far and how are you doing?
Some people might have had a great week, others might have had a tough week and you might be tired now.
Now, let's learn how to talk about people's condition.
For example, if you're asked about your or another person's condition, you can say "I am OR (S)he is..."
・full of energy!
・active
・fine
・drowsy
・tired
・worn-out
・bushed
・exhausted
When you have a chance, please try to use them!

今週もすでに金曜日に突入しましたが、皆様どのような週をお過ごしでしょうか？

良い週を過ごした人もいれば、忙しく過ごして、今お疲れの方もいらっしゃるかと思います。

今日はそんな“状態”を表す英語を学んでいきたいと思います。

例えば、英語で自分や他の人の状態を聞かれた時は“I'm もしくは (S)he is...”

・full of energy!（元気いっぱい！）

・active（活動的）

・fine（まあまあ良い）

・drowsy（けだるい）

・tired（疲れた）

・worn-out（くたびれた）

・bushed（とても疲れた）

・exhausted（疲れ切った）

英語のネイティブに日本語英語“掘った芋いじるな”の実験

Good morning and thank you for checking out English Plus blog!!
Today, I’d like to write about an English experiment that I tried the other day.
A couple years ago, my mother told me an interesting story about “English-sound-like Japanese.”
She said that native English speakers can understand when we say some Japanese sentences because the sentences sound like English!
I doubted the theory at first, but I had been wondering whether this was true or not for a long time…and finally the other day I was able to prove it!
The sentence I tried was “Hotta imo ijiruna.” (In English, Don’t touch the potato that we got.)
I tried the sentence with our native English teacher, Kevin.
Thought my first attempt was unsuccessful, he could catch a part of the sentence“ta imo = time.”
So, I changed the sentence into “Watta imo ijiruna.” (In English, Don’t touch the cut potato.)
Then, he got it! He understood what I meant!!
Of course, the results depend on listeners understanding, or how Japanese people say it.
So if you are wondering, why don’t you try it with native English speakers around you?

おはようございます。English Plus英語講師のarataです。

本日は“英語のネイティブに日本語英語“掘った芋いじるな”の実験“です。

数年前のことになりますが、自分の母から“ある日本語は英語に聞こえるから通じる”という話を聞きました。

母は“ある日本語の文章は英語をネイティブとする人に通じる”と言うので、その時は半信半疑で聞いていましたが、聞いて以来ずっとそのことが頭の中にありました。

実際に通じるのかどうなのか、不思議に思っていましたが、先日遂にそれを実験・証明することができました！

実験に協力してくれたのはEnglish PlusのネイティブのKevin先生で、トライした日本語は“掘った芋いじるな”でした。

最初にトライした時は“は？”という表情でしたが、それでも“time（たいも）”のところは聞きとっていました。

そこで“掘った”を“割った”に変えていったみたところ、“あ～！！”と言った感じで通じました！

この実験は話し手・聞き手によって、大分結果が違うと思うので一概には通じるとは言い切れませんせんが、割ったのところの“WH”の発音を少し気をつけると比較的通じやすいかな、というのが今回の感想です。

興味ありましたら、周りのネイティブの人に試してはいかがでしょうか？

Today, I'd like to write about a bookshelf at English Plus Cafe.
In the day before yesterday's blog, I wrote about my plan to organize our bookshelf at English Plus cafe.
It took some time, but I finished organizing the bookshelf yesterday!
Now the books are divided into 3 categories.
One is easy-to-read books!
Another is for those who want to improve TOEIC score and reading skills!
The other is magazines, dictionaries, self-help books and so on.
If you come to English Plus, just relax with coffee and English books!!

本日は“カフェで英語にもっと慣れ親しんでもらうための本棚整理完了”です。

一昨日のブログでEnglish Plusカフェの本棚の整理について書かせてもらいましたが、あれから時間を見つけては少しずつ本の整理などをしましたので、少しは本棚の英語の本が手に取りやすくなりました！

本棚は３つのカテゴリーに分かれましたので、どの本が良いのか少しはわかりやすくなったかと思います。

ちなみに３つのカテゴリーは・・・

・英語に慣れていない人でも楽しめる本（絵本など）

・TOEICスコアアップやリーディング力強化を目指している方へおすすめの多読のための本

・辞書や雑誌、自己啓発など役に立つ本

となっております。

English Plusのホームページに小さくRマークをつけてみました

Good morning and I appreciate your visit to English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to write about R (registered) mark on our web.
Since English Plus' trademark was registered at the beginning of this month, we've officially been able to use the mark!
So, the other day, we put "Registered" mark next to our English Plus logo on our homepage!!(Did you realize it???)
It's actually hard to recognize, so when you check it out, please look at it carefully!

英語の本にもっと慣れ親しんでもらうために本棚整理中

Good morning!
Thank you very much for visiting English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to write about a plan at English Plus cafe.
At our English Plus cafe, there are some English books for customers to read.
For example, there are picture books and kids can enjoy reading them with parents!
Some of them are easy-to-read books, such as Penguin Readers or Oxford Bookworms, which are good to help to improve reading skills!!
There is also a wide variety of books, such as landscape photography, hockey books and so on.
Also, we have some difficult ones, such as self-help books!
Currently, we're displaying the books randomly because I thought it was better.
However, I found out that customers find it difficult to choose which books are good for them to read.
So, I've decided to arrange these books!
What I mean is I'm going to display the books according to their difficulties.
It might take some time to sort out but I'll do it a.s.a.p!!

本日は“英語の本にもっと慣れ親しんでもらうために本棚整理中”です。

English Plusカフェには英語の本・雑誌が置いてあり、カフェのお客様はご自由にお読みいただけます。

英語の本は子供も楽しめる英語の絵本や、比較的簡単に読め、語彙力・リーディング力の強化も期待できる“Penguin Readers”や“Oxford Bookworms”などの本も置いてあります。

またその他にもカナダの風景写真集やホッケーに関する本、自己啓発書など、いろいろな種類の本が置いてあります。

現在、これらの本はカフェの本棚にランダムに置かれていますが最近、生徒の方から“どの本が自分のレベルに合っているかわからない”ということをお聞きしましたので、“キッズ用、初級用、中級用など”に並び替えることに決めました。

ランチの時間外など隙間の時間で作業をすることになりそうなので、少し時間がかかるかもしれませんが、早速とりかかりたいと思います！！

少し英語から離れている方でも、英語に触れたくなったらお気軽にカフェにどうぞ！！
