会話の流れを"変える/戻す"ひとことビジネス英語

Today, let's see some English expressions that you can use in a business conversation to change a current topic to the related topic.

If you think about your daily conversation in Japanese, it must be usual for you to change the conversation topic frequently, for instance, You talk about a sports player and the next moment, you talk about the future sports event or something else.
What if you'd like to change your conversation topic naturally in English, what expression do you use?
You can use the following expressions in a business situation.
If the topic is related, you can use...
・That reminds me,...(e.g. That reminds me, Mr. Art called this morning.)
・Speaking of...(e.g. Speaking of meeting, the boss said we'd be able to get...)
・Sorry to interrupt, but...(e.g. Sorry to interrupt, but I have a question.)
If you want to get back to the original topic, you can use...
・As I was saying,...(e.g. As I was saying, this model is surely user-friendly.)
・Anyway,...(e.g. Anyway, your plan seems nice.)
・Where were we?
You can use the expressions above to change the conversation topic!!

日本語でお考えになるとわかると思いますが、日常の会話の中で話題を頻繁に変えることがあると思います。（例えば、今までスポーツの選手の話をしていて、次の瞬間には、将来のスポーツイベントの話に変わっているような会話）

この“自然に話題を変える＝会話の流れを変える”ひとことを英語では次のように表現します。

関連のある話題に変える場合：
・Speaking of...（…と言えば）
(例：Speaking of the meeting, the boss said we'd be able to get...)
・That reminds me,...（それで思い出しました。）
(例：That reminds me, Mr. Art called this morning.)
・Sorry to interrupt, but...（話に割りこんで申し訳ありませんが）
(例：Sorry to interrupt, but I have a question.)

元の話題に戻る場合：
・As I was saying,...（さっき言ったように…）
(例：As I was saying, this model is surely user-friendly.)
・Anyway,...（とにかく…）
(例：Anyway, your plan seems nice.)
・Where were we?（何を話していたんでしたっけ？）

上記の表現を使うことでビジネスの場においても、会話の流れを"変える/戻す"ことができます！！

起業に関してポジティブになれるおすすめの本

Hello, and thank you for stopping by!!
Recently, I've been reading a book recommended by my uncle.
The title of the book is "面白いことをとことんやれば、「起業」は必ずうまくいく - If you do something interesting thoroughly, you can launching business will be succssful"
This book was written by Mikio Kurihara , who is the founder of Freshness Burger.
Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no translated version of this book.
The business I’m trying to launch and the book suggesting is different, however, there are some points I could learn, such as…
・Enjoy any hard time you face
・"Work" is "serious play", so enjoy working
・What “originality” really means
and so on.
If you are interested in launching your own business, this is a book worth reading!!
As for me, I’ll keep these points in mind and enjoy doing what I’ll do today!!

最近、自分の伯父にすすめられた本を読んでいます。

その本のタイトルは“面白いことをとことんやれば、「起業」は必ずうまくいく”です。
著者はフレッシュネスバーガーの創業者である栗原幹夫さんです。
（自分の知る限り、残念ながらこの本の翻訳版はないみたいです。）

自分の目指しているビジネスモデルとこの本で紹介されているビジネスモデルは違いますが、読んでいて、いくつかの点でとても参考になりました！！

例えば・・・
・問題を楽しむという発想
・「仕事は真剣な遊び」で、いつでも楽しく仕事をするということ
・オリジナリティのあり方
などなど。

もし、起業に興味がある方がいましたら、この本を読むことをおすすめします。

１日１行毎日の基礎を養う英語ライティングトレーニング

Good morning, and thank you for checking out my blog!
Today, I'd like to suggest a simple writing training!
This training is especially good for someone who is bad at continuing doing things for more than three days.
Here are the very simple rules:
1. Write one sentence every day. Any sentence is okay.
e.g.)
I saw a movie.
2. After a month or so, you may get accustomed to this writing trining, so try to make a little longer sentence with "extra information", "Conjunctions", "Relative Clause", and so on.
e.g.)
・I saw an interesting movie with my friend. (extra information)
・I saw an interesting movie with my friend this afternoon.(extra information)
・I saw a movie, and after that I went shopping.(Conjunctions)
・I saw a movie which was very interesting! (Relative Clause)
This is a very simple yet effective training!!
You can carry out this training in your schedule book or anywhere convenient for you every day!!
Continue writing every day and establish your English routine!!

本日は“１日１行毎日の基礎を養う英語ライティングトレーニング”です。

今日のライティングトレーニングは特に、“続けることが苦手な３日坊主の方”に特におすすめです。

トレーニングの仕方はとてもシンプル：

1. 毎日１文だけ文章を書く　

e.g.)
I saw a movie.

2. このトレーニングを続けて慣れてきた頃（１ヶ月後）を目途に、付加情報・接続詞・関係代名詞などを入れ、少し長めの文章にしてみる。

e.g.）
・I saw an interesting movie with my friend. (付加情報)
・I saw an interesting movie with my friend this afternoon. (付加情報)
・I saw a movie, and after that I went shopping.(接続詞)
・I saw a movie which was very interesting! (関係代名詞)

このトレーニングは一見シンプルですが、英語力を伸ばすのにとても効果的な方法です。
また、スケジュール帳の上に書くなど、どこでも手軽にできるトレーニングです！！

毎日続けて英語トレーニングを毎日の生活に取り入れましょう！！

税務署へ英語学校起業に関して相談の旅

Good morning, and thank you for your visit!!
As I wrote down in this blog yesterday, I took a consultant with Mr. Takeuchi in Kawasaki.
He gave me some advice, and one of them was about going to a tax office.
So, yesterday afternoon, I visited a local tax office and asked several questions about launching business and about tax.
Actually, I didn't know much about income tax, a consumption tax, or when I should sumbit some forms that is necessary for me to save some money.
Thus, it was good to learn about it!!
If you are thinking about launching business, you should definitely visit your local tax office and ask any questions you have about tax!!
You might be able to get some useful and beneficial information!!

本日は“税務署へ英語学校起業に関して相談の旅”です。

昨日のブログ“英語学校起業へのコンサルティング in 川崎”でも書きましたが、先日、竹内先生のコンサルティングを受けてきました。

先生からいろいろとアドバイスを頂戴しましたが、その中の１つに“税務署へ行く”ということがありましたので、昨日の午後、地元の税務署へ行き“起業”のことや“税金”などの質問をしてきました。

アドバイザーの方に“税金”のことについて教えてもらうことができ、いろいろと勉強になりました。

特に起業に関して役に立つ“所得税”のことや“消費税”、“いつ必要書類を提出すべきなのか”を知ることができました。

今回、税務署でいろいろと相談し、“今後とても役に立つ情報を得ること”ができたと思います！

起業を目指している人で税金・起業のことで質問があれば、税務署へ行き相談することをおすすめします！！

英語学校起業へのコンサルティング in 川崎

Good morning!
The day before yesterday, I went to Kawasaki to take Mr. Koji Takeuchi’s consultation, who is a management consultant of small and medium enterprise, and asked for his advice about my business.

There were several tips I could learn from this consultation, for instance;
・How to use homepage more effectively!!
・Something I should put in my business plan
・Some financial advice, and so on…
It’s only 65 days left until April 1st, but I will enjoy each & every step of the process to establish my English school with the points I learned the day before yesterday!!

一昨日、川崎市産業振興会館において、中小企業診断士の竹内幸次先生に“英語学校起業に関するコンサルティング＆アドバイス”をしていただきました。

前回のコンサルティングに引き続き、とても実用的なアドバイスをたくさんいただくことができました。

例えば・・・

・ホームページ上での上手な見せ方やＳＥＯ対策
・ビジネスプランのより良い書き方
・経営上での数字に関してのアドバイス、等々

４月１日まで残り６５日ですが、今日学んだことを着実に実行し、１つ１つのステップを楽しみながら前進したいと思います！！

When I was browsing the web, I happened to find an interesting article of "Where are the world's happiest countries?" on Yahoo! Canada, and I’d like to introduce it to use as a source to practice reading English!!
Before reading the article, there are a couple of tips you should remember when you read English articles!
・First, Skim the article to get the comprehension!
・Read it again and guess the meaning of unknown vocabulary *Try not to use a dictionary!
Keep in mind the points above and read the article a couple of times, and it's going to be a good reading training!!

昨日インターネットを見ていた時、Yahoo!Canadaで興味深い記事“世界で一番幸せな国はどこ？”という記事を見つけましたので、TOEICにも役立つ英文を読むコツと共に紹介したいと思います。

英文を読む時のポイントとしましては・・・

・最初にざっと記事に目を通して全体の意味を捉える（わからない意味の単語は飛ばして読む）
・もう一度じっくり読む。この時、わからない単語は前後の内容から推測してみる（辞書は極力使わないこと）

以上の点を気に留めて上記の英文を２～３回読むことで良いトレーニングになります！

英検受験の生徒の方々からの嬉しい報告

Good morning everyone!
How was your weekend?
Yesterday, a few of my students took the Eiken test, which is a test for assessing the English language proficiency of Japanese students.
Some took Eiken Grade Pre-2 test, and some took Eiken Grake 5 test, and so on.
For a couple of the students, it was their first time to take English tests.
So, I thought they'd get nervous before the test but it was in vain.
After the test, they sent me a textmessage and and I was happy to hear that they could do the test better than they first thought, especially Listening!!
I can't wait to hear their result in the middle of February!!
Anyway, until the next Eiken test in June you have some time, so why don't you prepare for it with this site?

本日は“英検受験の生徒の方々からの嬉しい報告”です。

昨日は英語検定試験（英検）が行われ、自分の何名かの生徒も受験しました。

受験級はそれぞれ違い、準２級～５級を受験していました。

何名かの生徒にとっては“人生初”の英語のテストで、講師としては“緊張しないか心配”でしたが、まったくの無用でした。

テスト終了後、何名かの生徒がメールで“思ったよりリスニングができました”というメッセージや“出来は悪くなかった”というメッセージをいただきました。

結果は２月中旬ということなので、楽しみに待ちたいと思います。

英語講師がセンター試験（英語）を解いて思うこと

Good morning.
Last weekend, Center-Shiken, National Center Test for University Admissions, took place all around Japan.
When I was reading a newspaper last Sunday, I found the English exam, so I tried some of the questions.
The last time I took this exam was about 12 years ago, and I clearly remember it was really difficult.
However, this time after finishing answering some of the questions, I, as an English teacher, thought that "having fundamental English skills is important!"
I mean“if you have fundamental English skills, you can adjust to, technically, any forms of English test, such as TOEIC.”
Specifically, increasing vocabulary and mastering some basic grammar are the important keys, and with these vocabulary and grammar, you should use English in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing as much as possible!!
The easiest and best way to establish fundamental English skills is to make practicing English a part of your daily life!!

本日は“英語講師がセンター試験（英語）を解いて思うこと”です。

先週末、大学入試センター試験が日本で行われました。

センター試験の翌日、新聞を見ていると英語の試験が目にとまったので、何問か挑戦してみました。

約１２年前に現役で挑戦した時は、とても難しかったことを記憶していますが、今回何問か解いて、英語講師として思ったことは、“英語の基礎力をしっかりつければ、（基本的には）ＴＯＥＩＣなど、あらゆるテストに対応できる”ということです。

特に大事なのは“英語の基礎力となるボキャブラリーを増やすこと、と基礎文法をマスターすること”です。

そしてこの“学んだボキャブラリーと文法”を“しっかりと使う（“聞き・話し・読み・書く”）こと”が基礎力をつける際、大切です。

英語の基礎力をつけるのに一番効果的で、かつ簡単なのが“英語学習を生活の一部にしてしまうこと”です！！是非！！

英語のリズムを体得できる英語カラオケのすすめ

Hi, everyone, thank you for checking out my blog!!
I sometimes go sing karaoke with my friends and my family.
When I go sing karaoke, I sing not only Japanese songs but also a few English songs from pop, rock, to rap.
As I sing both Japanese and English songs, I find out that their rhythm is quite different.
When you hear English songs, you might notice the differences in your head, however, if you sing English songs, you will realize the clear differences with your body.
However, if you think you might get embarrassed to sing English songs in front of people, you should use YouTube at home and practice your favorite music video and sing along!!
The point is ENJOY singing!!

本日は“英語のリズムを体得できる英語カラオケのすすめ”についてです。

個人的に時々、友達や家族とカラオケに行くことがあります。
カラオケでは日本語の歌だけではなく、英語の曲（ポップ・ロック・ラップなど）を歌います。

カラオケで歌って・聞いて、特に感じることは“洋楽と邦楽のリズムはかなり違う”ということです。

英語の歌を聞けば、耳でおわかりいただけるかと思いますが、自分で歌うと、体で違いを感じることができると思います。

しかし、人前で英語の曲を歌うことに抵抗を感じるという方は、You Tubeを利用して自分のお気に入りの英語の曲を練習することをおすすめします！！
