さて、ダマスコにアナニヤという弟子がいた。主が彼に幻の中で、「アナニヤよ」と言われたので、「主よ。ここにおります」と答えた。すると主はこう言われた。「立って、『まっすぐ』という街路に行き、サウロというタルソ人をユダの家に尋ねなさい。そこで、彼は祈っています。
彼は、アナニヤという者が入って来て、自分の上に手を置くと、目が再び見えるようになるのを、幻で見たのです。」しかし、アナニヤはこう答えた。「主よ。私は多くの人々から、この人がエルサレムで、あなたの聖徒たちにどんなにひどいことをしたかを聞きました。彼はここでも、あなたの御名を呼ぶ者たちをみな捕縛する権限を、祭司長たちから授けられているのです。」
しかし、主はこう言われた。「行きなさい。あの人はわたしの名を、異邦人、王たち、イスラエルの子孫の前に運ぶ、わたしの選びの器です。彼がわたしの名のために、どんなに苦しまなければならないかを、わたしは彼に示すつもりです。」
そこでアナニヤは出かけて行って、その家に入り、サウロの上に手を置いてこう言った。「兄弟サウロ。あなたの来る途中、あなたに現れた主イエスが、私を遣わされました。あなたが再び見えるようになり、聖霊に満たされるためです。」
するとただちに、サウロの目からうろこのような物が落ちて、目が見えるようになった。彼は立ち上がって、バプテスマを受け、食事をして元気づいた。サウロは数日の間、ダマスコの弟子たちとともにいた。そしてただちに、諸会堂で、イエスは神の子であると宣べ伝え始めた。 使徒の働き９章１０～２０節 Acts 9:10-20 Ananias Baptizes Saul Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” So the Lord said to him, “ Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying. And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.” Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.” But the Lord said to him, “ Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake.” And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.
