Italy tour 2014 - Rome day 2 (part 1)

Today's main agenda for this hedonist? The Vatican, of course!

By the way, gluttony is my favorite sin.

Day 2

Nearly 37 kms (almost 23 miles) so far!

Calls for celebration with another double scoop of gelato and maybe a pile of Tiramisu???


Okay, so after a full breakfast, time for my first full day of exploring Rome.

First a walk through Villa Borghese, view the Rome skyline from atop Monte Pincio,

climb down to the Piazza del Popolo, and take some snapshots of these twin churches.

Then cross the Fiume Tevere (river) on the Ponte Reglina Margherita (bridge) headed towards the Vatican on the Via Cola di Rienzo and found this fantastic little pizzeria.




Okay so now the Vatican. Did not bother to make any reservations but only a short 15 minute wait in line and we were in.
