Smartphone Market in India

2017-08-17 11:40:49 | Samsung Galaxy S8

After witnessing slow growth in the first two quarters of this year, the Indian smartphone market is preparing for a bumper period owing to the upcoming festive season, a new report said on Wednesday.

According to market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), 28 million zte parts were shipped to India in Q2 (April-June) - marking just 3.7 percent Quarter-on-Quarter (QoQ) growth and a meagre 1.6 percent Year-on-Year (YoY) growth. The research firm observes a January-December financial year.

Indian Smartphone Market Hit by GST Awareness, Should Bounce Back Next Quarter: IDC

The impact of demonetisation late last year and implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1 caused weak sell-in shipments in the second quarter as the focus was on clearing the existing inventory.

But as the festive season is approaching, offline channels have cleared old stocks, e-retailers are getting ready for mega online festivals and vendors are set to launch new models in the festive period.

"The sentiment is indeed positive in the market. All the ambiguities have cleared now and vendors are gearing up for the upcoming festival season to recover from the slow start in the first half of this year," said Jaipal Singh, Senior Analyst, IDC India, in a statement.

Indian vendors registered 18 percent growth (QoQ) in Q2 after continuous decline in previous three quarters but share remains limited to 15 percent of overall smartphone market.

China-based vendors, which registered 9 percent QoQ growth, continue to dominate with 54 per cent market share.

"Indian vendors are putting all their efforts and second half of the year will be crucial. Either it will see a revival of Indian vendors or emergence of new dominance in the sub-$150 segment from China-based vendors," said Upasana Joshi, Senior Analyst, IDC India.

Despite a decline of 4 percent YoY, Samsung retained the top brand spot with 24 percent market share.

Xiaomi secured the second place with 17 percent market share, a 25 percent increase from previous quarter.

Xiaomi is followed by Vivo (13 percent), Oppo (8 percent) and Lenovo with 7 percent market share.

"Reliance's 4G JioPhone has created an excitement both in the channel and consumer front. This may stabilise the declining feature zte replacement parts market in the short term and the year 2017 is expected to end with a similar volume as last year," noted Navkendar Singh, senior Research Manager, IDC India.

Hvernig á að laga iPhone hleðsluútgáfu?

2017-08-16 11:35:00 | Samsung Galaxy S8

Hleðsla símans er þegar hluti af daglegu lífi fyrir iPhone notendur, en stundum finnast þeir að iPhone þeirra verði ekki innheimt. Af hverju gerist þetta? Er iPhone brotinn eða rafhlaðan er slæm? Margir voru ruglaðir af þessu vandamáli. Ekki hafa áhyggjur af því, þetta mál kann að vera af einhverjum algengum ástæðum og þú getur lagað það sjálfur sjálfur. Hér munum við tala eitthvað um af hverju það gerist og hvernig á að laga það eins og hér að neðan.

1. IOS vandamál

Ástæða: Stundum var IOS hrundi að iPhone geti ekki greint hleðslutækið.

Lausnir: Kraft endurræsa iPhone tækið. Haltu inni hnappunum Kraft og hljóðstyrk (Heimaknappar) á sama tíma í að minnsta kosti tíu sekúndur þar til þú sérð Apple merki á iPhone skjánum.

Forec endurræsa iPhone

2. Lokað hleðsluhöfn

Ástæða: Mjög ryk eða lím er hlaðið upp í hleðslutengi mun valda lélegum snertingu.

Lausnir: Hreinsaðu hleðslutengi með ryksuga. Ef ljónið er ennþá, reyndu að fjarlægja það með tannstöngli. Tappa inn til að hlaða aftur, ef það virkar, allt er í lagi, ef ekki, halda áfram að lesa.

Hreinsaðu hleðslutengi

3. Slæmt samband

Ástæða: Lélegt samband milli stinga, fals og USB snúru leiðir til iPhone hleðslu bilun.

Lausnir: Gakktu úr skugga um góða tengingu milli stinga, fals og USB snúru. Ef tengingin milli stinga og stinga er léleg, reyndu að tengja annan tengi eða tengdu USB-snúruna við USB-tengi tölvunnar. Ef það byrjar að hlaða, getur fyrsta falsið verið slæmt, ef ekki, vinsamlegast lesið það til að fá meiri upplýsingar.

4. Skemmd USB-tengi

Ástæða: A skemmd millistykki getur einnig valdið hleðslu bilun.

Google Pixel 2 visits the FCC

2017-08-16 10:31:24 | Samsung Galaxy S8

The Google Pixel 2 has been certified by the FCC. Based on documentation found on the FCC website, it appears that the Pixel 2 will once again be built by HTC. The latter has its name all over the FCC filing. The paperwork also reveals that the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will have a feature similar to the Edge Sense that is used on the HTC U11. With this feature, users can squeeze both sides of the cell phone battery wholesale together to open apps, control certain functions (like snap a picture, for example) and more. The FCC leak indicates that on the Pixel, this will be known as "Active Edge."

Google Pixel 2 visits the FCC with Android 8.0.1, Active Edge and SD-835 on board

Based on some leaked screenshots that allegedly belong to the Pixel 2, the handset will come with Android 8.0.1 pre-installed. In addition, the FCC will use the Electronic version of its labeling system on the phone. By the way, if you look at the "System" screenshot under Languages, input and gestures, it reads "Active Edge on, squeeze for your Assistant." Thus, Pixel 2 users will be able to activate Google Assistant by squeezing the sides of the device. And if you look closely, you'll find that the navigation buttons on the screenshots are exclusive to Pixel handsets.

The screenshots also reveal that with 21% of native storage free, 50GB of native storage remained available. That could indicate that the Pixel 2 will ship with a base model containing 64GB of native storage, not 32GB like last year. And under Baseband version it reads mw8998 which tells us that the chipset being employed on the wholesale phone parts is the Snapdragon 835.

Several documents show a model number of GO11A. That model number recently showed up on the Wi-Fi Alliance for a new HTC handset receiving its Wi-Fi Certification. Not 100% proof, but it does fit with the premise that an HTC built Pixel 2 will be unveiled shortly.

This is LG V30's new ticker "display"

2017-08-15 10:06:59 | Samsung Galaxy S8

With the V30 just around the corner, LG has given us the first official look at the phone’s refreshed user interface and the successor to V10 and V20’s ticker displays cell phone screen replacement .

This is LG V30's new ticker

Turns out all the rumors were true, LG is dealing away with the ticker in favor of a larger main display. And good riddance! Hey don’t get us wrong, the ticker displays on the V10 and V20 were a fun gimmick, but why waste space when you can just emulate much of the same functionality on a single OLED display? Ah, we’re sure the dedicated ticker screens have their fans but it is what it is – the ticker display is dead, starting with the LG V30.

So, what’s going to replace it, you may ask? Well, it’s apparently… an always-on display. Okay, so LG says it’s an upgraded version of the G6 AOD display ETS that “ not only shows the clock, it can also be set to display Quick Tools, Music Player or a personal photograph as well.“

But that’s not all! Alongside the revamped AOD display, LG is introducing a Floating Bar that it says is the evolution of V20’s ticker display, although it looks more like Samsung’s Edge Screen, at first glance at least.

The Floating Bar will be accessible by swiping from the right edge of the display, although you may be able to change its position in the final version, and it will nest various useful (and presumably customizable) shortcuts, such as “Settings”, “Notes”, and others.

Beauty Nokia 6 review

2017-08-14 09:31:54 | Samsung Galaxy S8

Of the three cheap phone repair Nokia launched earlier this year (The Nokia 3, 5 and 6), the Nokia 6is the star. But at only £220 (or $180 in the US, with Amazon's ads appearing on the lockscreen), it's still affordable.

It uses premium metals to look slick and premium but keeps the price down with a low-end processor and a display with a ho-hum resolution. As such, performance can be laggy, but it's not a huge problem for everyday use.

Don't buy this phone if you're looking for the best example of what a smartphone can be. Instead, consider it if you want a great-looking Android phone that'll handle your life's essentials and won't drain your wallet.

The all-metal design is where this phone really stands out. It has an aesthetic that you wouldn't feel embarrassed to whip out in a posh cocktail bar. It's an incredibly smart-looking handset with machine-milled edges that give it a polished metal accent which looks great on the deep blue hue of my review model. It feels extremely premium to hold too, thanks to that solid body that has none of the flimsy feeling flex you find in many lower-end phones.

nokia-6-mwc.jpg

My major annoyance about the design is that the edges are quite sharp, which can make the phone uncomfortable to hold. It's something that my colleague Rick Broida also found when he used the Nokia 6 for a week in place of his much more expensive iPhone 6S Plus.

I'm also disappointed it lacks USB-C charging, with the 6 opting for the older micro-USB standard. It's not a deal-breaker, particularly given the low price, but with most phones launching now sporting USB-C, it would have been good to see that here. There's no waterproofing, either -- though again, I can't really hold that against it at this cheap price. Just be careful around the pool or when your clumsy friend is reaching for their drink.

The 5.5-inch display is large enough to do justice to vibrant mobile games and YouTube clips. Its full HD resolution (1,920x1,080-pixels) is lower than you'll find on premium phones like the Galaxy S8 ($669.88 at Amazon Marketplace), but it's more than adequate for your everyday Twitter and Instagram needs and totally acceptable given the phone's much lower price. Sure, if you hold both phones side-by-side you might notice a touch less clarity on high-res photos on the Nokia, but this isn't a very likely scenario.

The octa-core processor is where the cracked screen repair starts to fall down. Simply swiping around the Android interface is reasonably nippy, but opening the camera takes longer than I'd like and HDR photos take several seconds to save. Apps can be a bit sluggish to open, too, although I didn't find any performance problems when using the apps. I could quickly tweak photos in Snapseed, for example, and games like Sonic and NOVA: Legacy played perfectly well enough to keep you entertained on your commute.
