新しいＦＣＳがやってくる (Apple Final Cut Studio)

背景： アップルのプロフェッショナル用のビデオ編集プログラム Final Cut Studio が刷新されるという情報がある。 アドビーの Premiere が６４ビットに対応して先行しており、Avid もしっかり足元を固めている。 アップルはプロを見捨てたのではないかという噂がでるほど沈黙を続けた。 アップルは新しいファイナルカットを２０１１年の春には送り出すと公表した。 ２０１１年３月になってようやくアップルはプロを集めてお披露目会を開いた。 そこに集まった人々の新バージョンに対する評判はかなり良かったが、参加者はＮＤＡ (nondisclosure agreement) に縛られ、詳細を語ることができない。 将来に向けた新しいプログラムだというのが鍵だが、もしかしたらこれは３Ｄのことかもしれない。 昨年のＮＡＢで、編集者たちが３Ｄビデオ制作で苦労しているというのが共通の認識だったし、アップルは "will be where the puck is heading" (プレビュー参加者の暗喩）だと示唆されたからだ。 ビデオ制作会社のトップで先の発表会に参加したマーク・ロドニスの発言を拾ってみた。

原文： "Apple has invited a bunch of people to Cuppertino to reveal the latest version of Final Cut to a few people. I'm happy to say that I was one of them. They have good lawyers and here's what I can say.... I would also end with Henry Ford: 'If I asked people what they wanted, they'd tell me they wanted a faster horse.' So, Apple is very good at going their own way and figuring out where things will be. They may not ask you what you want. They are going to tell you, 'We're going to invent something different.' And that's kind of my take away from it. I was very impressed, it was awesome and look out, I believe they say it will be available in Spring 2011. So, that goes all the way up to June 20th. So, that's what I know, that's what I can say, and if there's anyone from Apple out there, I hope you don't sue me."
