I was about 12 or 13 growing up on a farm in northern Idaho. We had lots of acres to plow, so we often ran at night. Sometimes it got chilly at 3 in the morning, but listening to Wolfman Jack made you forget all about that. Our tractor was a crawler and my Dad had mounted an old AM radio from a WWII tank on it. It was a real good radio and I would listen through WWII headsets -- they weren't nearly as good as today's headsets, but they did well. I'd listen to Wolfman all night except when I hit a rock and had to get off the tractor for a few minutes to reset the plow. Good times!

I met Candy Clark at a toy/memorabilia show that I took my son to when he was a boy. Walking down an aisle, I look at this woman walking near me, and I got that "I know you from somewhere" look in my eye. Just as she started to introduce herself, it hit me - Debbie from American Graffiti! She was just as nice and normal as could be. She was there to sign autographs, but we chatted in that aisle for almost 10 minutes. It helped that I used to be a greaser and was well acquainted with A.G. We even talked about George Lucas, since he had by this time moved on to bigger and better with Star Wars. Sweet girl; I will remember her fondly.

I know every generation thinks their music was the best, but as a '70's kid, even I have to admit now that some of these songs from the 50's must have made for some absolutely magical nights. Blue Velvet, for instance.

Before XERB, The Wolfman broadcast over XERF 1570 in Ciudad Acuna Mexico in the early 60s. 500,000 watts. I'd listen to him on my little transistor radio in England.

Wow forgot about Mels drive in Pomona on Holt Ave. Buy em by the bagfull. Was just a kid then but cool cars and girls you could only dream about. Another place was a drive in on Foothill Blvd. with a huge round roof. Carhops and all. Turned into a disco and burnt down. The good old days when Pomona was a safe place to live. Drag racing behind the old Sears store was bitchin. Aloha and never forget the good stuff that is gone now.

I met the Wolf when I was in broadcasting school in 1978. It took some time, but we had so much in common before we met, I thought I would honor him by taking on his look. I sound a lot like him now, too. Wolfman Jack often said that he was in the happiness business. I now say, if you don't know the Wolfman, you don't know Jack! Have Mercy!

In NE you have many stations that sell non ethanol fuel but you still need lead additives for a pre 1975 vehicle unless you get a valve job with the hard seats, which you could for your chevy unless you want to keep the original soft seats. There is a site that lists the stations in each state that sell non-ethanol. pure-gas is the site with that famous com word following. Let me know if you find it, good luck and thanks again.

There is a CD I came across (on Amazon, that I probably will buy) that is called "Howlin' On The Air: Wolfman Jack". Basically it is like the American Graffiti Soundtrack, but with more of the Wolfman. The downside is is VERY expensive, but the reviews are all 5 stars. The latter mentioned American Graffiti soundtrack does have some songs with Wolfman Jack overdubs, but they're infrequent. There is also the Wolfman Jack "Let's Cruise" series in which his voice is BEFORE songs and not overdubs
