米PwC、監査クライアントのプライベートジェット機利用で非難浴びる（economiaより）

Whistleblower slams PwC over private jet flight

PwCの監査クライアントであるMicronという半導体メーカー（米国上場会社）のプライベートジェット機を、PwC所属の監査人が使っていたという記事。独立性が損なわれているのではないかと問題になっています。

違法に解雇されたとしてPwCを訴えている同事務所の元監査人が、SECに通報したのだそうです。

Mauro Botta is a former PwC auditor who is currently suing the firm for wrongful dismissal.

Micron社のCEOのプライベート・ジェット機を、同社監査チームがPwCのパーティーに行くのに使ったのだそうです。

As part of his complaint against PwC, Botta claimed that the team auditing US-listed chipmaker Micron was flown on the tech company chief executive’s private jet to a PwC party.

内部通報者によると、このフライトは、２０１６年に開催されたミーティングで、Micron社との良き関係を示すベスト・プラクティスの例として、写真付きで紹介されたそうです。

He said the flight was singled out as an example of best practice during a meeting in 2016, with a photo shown to demonstrate a good relationship with Micron, according to a report by the Financial Times.

Botta highlighted this incident, and several others, in a whistle-blowing document that he sent to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

末尾に、PwCの反論が載っています。裁判において提示された主張は虚偽である、内部通報者は正当なビジネス上の理由により解雇された、裁判でそのことを証明するといっています。

監査チームが、クライアントの社用車やクライアント手配のタクシーで移動するということはあり得る話ですが、さすがに米国でもプライベートジェット機がタクシーと同じとはいえないのでしょう。このケースは、仕事とは無関係な利用のようですから、なおさらです。
