永平寺 Eihei-ji Temple

《永平寺（えいへいじ）は、1244年、道元禅師が座禅修行の道場として創建した、福井県吉田郡永平寺町にある曹洞宗の仏教寺院。雲水（修行僧）の修行の場。總持寺(そうじじ/横浜市鶴見区）と並ぶ日本曹洞宗の中心寺院（大本山)。本尊は釈迦如来・弥勒仏・阿弥陀如来の三世仏。》

永平寺の「朝のおつとめ体験」ができるということで、永平寺 親禅の宿 柏樹關に泊まりました。
朝の早起きは大の苦手ですが、早朝、小雨降る中に出掛けた静寂の永平寺…感...動...
大勢の禅僧達の読経に…感...動...
若い禅僧達の、淡々と隅々まで掃除をする姿に…感...動...
本当に異次元の世界を体験でき、心が洗われた気がしました。

I stayed in Hakujukan Hotel and experienced a part of Zen temple morning work at Eihei-ji Temple.
It was very impressive to see so many Zen monks read sutras at once.
I was able to experience a completely different world and felt my heart washed.

Hakujukan-guests can take part in the morning service just before dawn by the monks of Eiheiji temple, including sutra reading, free of charge!!

↓2～3分歩くと、永平寺の入り口に到着

A few-minute-walk brings you to the entrance of Eiheiji Temple

 

 

 

↓いよいよ、中に入ります。
Now we enter the gate of Eiheiji Temple.

↓読経が行われるのは敷地内の一番上になるので、長い階段を上っていかなくてはなりません。
脚が不自由なお年寄りは大変そうでした。

The sutra chanting is held at the top of the compound, so you have to go up the long stairs to participate in it.
Elderly people with leg disabilities seemed to have a hard time.

↓朝のおつとめを終えた帰りに写真を撮りました。
多くの若い僧侶の皆さんが、黙々と清掃作業をされていたので、邪魔にならないように撮影しました。

I took pictures on my way back after the morning service finished.
Many young monks were cleaning silently, so I had to be careful not to disturb them.

因みに、柏樹關の精進料理は、ものすごく美味でした。

By the way, Shojin Ryori (Buddhist vegetarian meal) of Hakujukan Hotel was so good!
Especially the breakfast after the morning service!
