Japanese people strongly oppose 4-island-return-negotiations.
Currently there are Russian people living on those islands and it is not
a good thing to bring about a big mess and annoyance to them.
In the past a country won the territory by war or lost the territory on
the contrary. That is the past. Both the government and the people should
forget the past. It is important for the country to tackle the new difficult
problems facing newly with new feelings now.
What I want to emphasize in particular is that Japanese people are against
spending the tax of the nation to acquire the past territory again.
４島返還交渉には強く反対する
日本人は、現在ロシアの領土となっている旧の歯舞、旧の色丹、
旧の国後、旧の択捉などを返還―現実的には「売買」―して欲しい
と願っていない。多くの人たちは願っていない。
現在それらの島にはロシアの人たちが生活しており、そのひとたちに
大きな混乱、迷惑をもたらすので良いことではない。過去には戦争で
領土を獲得したりあるいな逆に領土を失ったりしたが、それは過去の
ことである。政府も国民も過去のことは忘れて、今、新しく直面している
困難な課題に新しい気持ちで取り組むことが大切である。
特に強調したいのは、過去の領土を再び取得するために国民の税金を
使うことに反対である、ということである。
