shibusawa Eiichi (渋沢栄一)

The following article was published about the new
10,000 yen note in the January 4th issue of Yorozu News:
"The reason why it is considered inappropriate to put the
new 10,000 yen note in a gift envelope is due to
Shibusawa Eiichi's history. Shibusawa Eiichi had two legal
wives in his life, and it is said that he had relationships
with many other women. The reason is that the flashiness
of his relationships with women is not appropriate for a wedding.
In a survey conducted by Tokihana Co., Ltd., about 30% of
people answered that using Shibusawa Eiichi's banknote
would be a breach of etiquette."
I think this is a ridiculous idea (What are you saying now?)
A certain Japanese emperor had two legal wives and had
sexual relations with many women other than his legal wife,
and even in modern times, when the country is almost democratic,
the successor to such an emperor is made the symbol of the country.
