イチゴはバラ科の多年草の一種で、正式にはオランダイチゴ属に含まれるそうです。ところで、このイチゴ、食べている部分、実は果実ではないそうだ。果実のように見える部分は花托の発達した花の一部で、本当の果実はその周りにある胡麻の様な粒粒一つ一つがそうなんです。
