A survey by the job search site has found the reality of the workplace gender disparity in japan.
Some 32% of women have thought about switching jobs because of the gender gap at their workplaces.
And 55% have found themselves at a disadvantage compared to men.
Both figures are signaling that workplace gender disparity has not been rectified in Japan.
According to this survey,
More than 60% of women felt that there is a gender gap at their workplaces.
What experiences they had were…
・paid less
・made to serve tea and clean up
・assigned to ancillary jobs
・sexually harassed
Meanwhile the survey found
50% of male workers felt difficulties at their workplaces because of gender stereotypes.
What experiences mthey had were…
・assigned to physically taxing jobs
・felt an atmosphere where they could not complain
・hard to ask for shorter working hours
Almost respondents of this survey, both male and female, said changing awareness among management was needed to eliminate gender disparity.
I agree with them of course.
But many citizens including myself , not just corporate managers, have stereotypes about gender .
