The Australian Open started Sunday.
Naomi Osaka , the former world No. 1 from Japan was making her Grand Slam return after the birth of her first child, a daughter, last July.
However Naomi exited from the first round on Monday after losing to Caroline Garcia.
Many Japanese tennis fans , including me ,were disappointed by her loss in the first match.
But her talk at a post-match news conference was very interesting.
She said,
“ I’m delusional enough to think I could have won the tournament.”
“I think my delusion is what allows me to win the tournaments.”
I remembered that Naomi canceled a press conference after losing the game a few years ago.
Her weak point was definitely mental problem.
I guess, becoming a mother probably made Naomi delusional that she could win.
I hope Naomi continues to be delusional.
