Presidential candidate Leni Robredo said, "We are open to discussions about setting up a nuclear power plant."

The Philippines previously built a nuclear power plant on the Batan Peninsula, but it has been left unused. Japan is the country that imposes the strictest safety regulations in the world. This is because Japan is the only earthquake-prone country in the world that owns nuclear power. If the Philippines builds a new nuclear power plant, it should accept Japanese technology. Other countries do not seem to have the know-how for earthquakes.
