おもちゃカボチャ　Pumpkin

知り合いからハロウィンの時に頂いた、かわいい飾りの「おもちゃカボチャ」の種を取っておき、植えたところ、育ってくれました。
1つの苗で、オス・メス両方の花が咲きます。見分けはつきますか？

I saved the seeds of a cute ornamental "toy pumpkin" given to me by an acquaintance on Halloween, planted them, and they grew.
One seedling produces both male and female flowers.　Can you tell them apart?

↑これは？　Is it a male or a female?

↑花のつけ根を見ると、ふくらみがありません。これは雄花です。
If you look at the base of the flower, there is no bulge. This is a male flower.

↑これはどうでしょう？
How about this one?

↑なぜか真ん中の芯の部分が、キウイの雌花に似ているような…
これが雌花です。
The center core looks like a female kiwi flower ...
This is the female flower.

↑花のつけ根がふくらんで来ています。これは雌花です。ちょっと嬉しい！
ところが、今年は授粉がうまくいかなかったせいか、肥料のせいか、暑すぎたせいか、
多くの丸く膨らんだ実は、大きくなる前にしぼんで枯れてしまいます。悲しい

The base of the flower is swelling. This is a female flower. I'm so happy!

But this year, maybe it's because pollination didn't work, maybe because of fertilizer, maybe because it's too hot??
Many round, swollen fruits withered and died before they grew enough.  So sad...

The fruit has finally grown!!
