旅心スケッチ 東日本編26日目

Day 26

In the morning, I retried the treasure hunt.

朝、再び宝探しへ。

I finally ended in miserable failure.

またもや失敗に終わる。

I wanted to get at least a glimpse of real jade.

本物のヒスイを一目見ておきたかったが。

By the way, why do I have an interest in jade?

なぜヒスイにこだわるのか。

After I knew that ancient Japanese people had used jade as an accessary, I also wished to find jade in Japan.

古代の日本人がアクセサリーに使っていたというヒスイを自分も見つけたいというわけだ。

It contained real jade.

本物のヒスイが含まれている。

In addition, I learned the topology around Itoigawa in the museum.

博物館で糸魚川近辺の地形を学ぶ。

通行止めの表示。

 

I went out Niigata Pref. and in Nagano Pref.

新潟を出て長野へ。

Soon after clossing the border, I visited Hakuba Village but uploded no photo.

県境を越えてすぐ、白馬村を訪れる。写真はアップしない。

It was because I respected residents' lives.

住民の生活への私なりの配慮。

Original Japanese landscape was so beautiful. 

日本の原風景は本当に素晴らしかった。

Day 25

Sun rose.

日の出

It was the start of a day.

一日の始まり。

This pond was formed by ground water.

この池は地下水でつくられる。

It was around 43,000 t per day.

一日の湧出量43,000トン！

There was a hot spring at the base of the mountain.

山の麓に温泉がある。

The last event was the treasure hunt.

最後のイベントはお宝探し。

I looked for Jade until sun set, but failed...

Day 24

 

I like the morning at the camp site,

キャンプサイトの朝は好きだ。

because I'm able to get up with the singing of birds and the sun rise.

鳥のさえずりと日の出で目を覚ますことができる。

Sado has different stories.

佐渡には多くの物語がある。

Temple, Noh, mountains, gold mine, ibis and shipping industry..........

寺社、能、山、金山、トキ、海運業、、、

Before leaving Sado, What should I do?

佐渡を離れる前に、やり残しはないか。

I finally decided to visit Osado Ishina Natural Cedar Forest.

大佐渡石名天然杉を見に行く。

Cedar trees were warped by strong winds and in fog.

松の木は強風と霧で変形している。

I can always find something interesting in the forest.

森の中では、いつもおもしろい発見がある。

A farewell to Sado.

佐渡とのお別れ。

Day 23

 

Seisuiji Temple

清水寺

There is the wooden stage immitating that of  Kiyomizudera Temple in Kyoto. 

京都の清水寺の舞台を模倣している。

 

I went to the highest mountain in Sado Island.

佐渡島最高峰を目指す。

Mt. Kinpokusan is the highest in this island.

金北山である。

I had two options to reach the top of Mt. Kinpokusan.

金北山山頂を目指すには二つの選択肢があった。

One was to walk along mountain ridges, and another was to walk on the paved road.

一つは縦走、もう一つは舗装道路を歩く。

I finally chose the latter, taking my equipment into account.

装備を考慮し、後者を選ぶ。

The top was surrounded by clouds.

山頂は雲に囲まれていた。

The paved road walking was dull, but I could find a lot of beautiful flowers.

舗装道路は味気なくも、きれいな花を見つけることができた。

佐渡のもう一つの顔。

The crested ibis

トキ

Japanese crested ibis became extinct in 2003.

日本のトキは2003年に絶滅している。

Sado had been the important habitat for them.

佐渡は重要な生息地であった。

Sukunegi

宿根木

The old houses were built close together in this area.

民家が立ち並ぶ。

Sukunegi became prosperous mainly through shipping industry and shipbuilding industry. 

宿根木は海運と造船で繁栄した。

It was like a maze.

迷路のようだ。

I was careful not to trouble residents.

住民に迷惑をかけないように。

Since Meiji Period, state-of-the art facilities at that time had been used, hiring skilled foreigners.

明治期以降の金増産に向け、お雇い外国人の力を借りながら当時最新鋭の設備が整えられた。     

 

Oma Port

大間港跡

It was constructed to facilitate the shipment of ores and materials used in mining.

鉱石や資材の搬出入のために造られた人口の港。
