Good morning and thank you for stopping by!
Today, let’s learn and master several expressions thatyou can use in any types of English lessons!
As you probably know that there are many different English lessons, such as English conversation, TOEIC test preparation, Business English and so on.
No matter what kind of lesson that is, there are some useful common phrases that you can use in a classroom!
Let’s master some of them today & use them!!
For instance, if you don’t know the spelling of a word, you can say…
・How do you spell...?
If what your teacher or a classroom partner says is unclear to you, you can say….
・Could you say that again?
If you don’t know how to say specific English vocabulary or expressions, you can say…
・How do you say...in English?
If you want to make sure of the meaning of English vocabulary, you can say…
・What does...mean?
If you don’t know what to do in the lesson, you can say…
・I’m not sure what to do.
If you suddenly feel sick, you can say…
・Could I go to the restroom, please?
These phrases are useful in our daily lives, but especially in the classroom, so master them and use them!!

現在英語のレッスンと言ったら、英会話のレッスンだけでなく、TOEICテスト対策レッスン、ビジネス英語のレッスンなど様々なレッスンがあります。

レッスンで学ぶ内容は全く違うものだと思いますが、レッスンでは共通して使える、とても役に立つ英語表現がありますので、今日は“レッスンで役に立つ英語表現”を学んでいきたいと思います。

英単語のスペルがわからない場合は…
・How do you spell...?（…はどのようなスペルですか？）

英語講師やレッスン時のパートナーの言っていることが聞きとれない場合は…
・Could you say that again?（もう一度言っていただけますか？）

英語を話す時に適切な単語や表現を知りたい時は…
・How do you say...in English?（…は英語で何と言えばいいのですか？）

単語の意味を知りたい時は…
・What does...mean?（…の意味は何ですか？）

レッスン中に何をすべきかわからない時は…
・I’m not sure what to do.（何をすべきかわかりません）

レッスン中に体調が悪くなってしまった場合は…
・Could I go to the restroom, please?（お手洗いに行ってきてもいいですか？）

これら上記の表現は、普段の時にも使える表現ですが、特に英語レッスンにおいてとても重要ですので、是非マスターしておきましょう！

楽しく学ぼうカナダ英語独特のスラング - Molson Muscle

I’ve been writing this blog for almost a year, and today, it’ll be the second time to introduce Canadian English (slang )in this blog.

In English, there is a wide variety of slang, but some slang is used in a particular country, and the one I’m going to introduce from now on is used only in Canada as far as I know.
The slang is…
“Molson muscle”
When you hear “Molson muscle”, can you guess what this slang means?
Molson is a brewery and it’s one of the biggest breweries in Canada.
The most famous product is named “Molson CANADIAN” and you can get it almost all the liquor shops in Canada.
It’s delicious and after you keep drinking a lot of delicious Molson Canadian beer, you can guess what’s going to happen!
Yes, you get beer belly!
So, maybe you can guess that "Molson muscle means beer belly."
You can get real muscles by working out, and you can get Molson muscle by drinking beer!!

ブログを始めて約１年になりますが、今日初めてスラング（俗語）を紹介したいと思います。

英語のスラング（俗語）は英語が話されている国では、各地域によって違いを見ることができます。

これからご紹介しますスラングも（自分の知る限りでは）カナダでのみ使われているようです。

今日のスラングは・・・“Molson Muscle”

初めてこのスラング”Molson Muscle”を聞く人は意味が想像できるでしょうか？

Molsonはビール製造会社でカナダでも１・２を争う大きな酒造会社です。

自分の知っているところでは、一番有名な商品のビール”Molson CANADIAN”はカナダにあるほとんどのお酒が買えるお店で購入可能だと思います。

おいしく飲めるビールなので、飲みすぎてしまうと、どうなるか想像がつくと思います・・・

一言で言うと“ビール腹”になってしまいます。

このスラング“Molson Muscle”は一言で言えば“ビール腹(beer belly)”という意味になります。

Molson Muscleをつけすぎると体に良くないので、出来る限り本物のMuscleもつけるためトレーニングと脳のための英語トレーニングを習慣にしましょう！

英語学校起業に向けた６月のコンサルティング受講

Today, I’d like to write about a consultation I had in Kawasaki yesterday.

It's been almost a month since I took the last consultation.
The consultant was Mr. Koji Takeuchi, who is a small and medium enterprise management consultant.

Since he is very good at using homepage, blog, twitter in business, I asked him his advice on them yesterday.
His advice was very useful and I was able to make my homepage look better, and how to use twitbot.
Also I asked his advice on a place to set up my English school.
Actually in the consultation, I tried to upload my homepage, but I realized that some information has not been checked yet, so I decided not to update now.
When time comes, I’ll surely let you know about it in this blog!!

昨日は毎月受講させていただいている川崎でのコンサルティングに行ってきました。

コンサルタントの先生はビジネスにおいての、ホームページでの集客やブログ・Twitterに関して詳しい中小企業診断士の竹内幸次先生にお願いしました。

昨日は主に、ホームページのレイアウトや中身に関するアドバイス、SEO対策、Twitterを使った集客方法などをのアドバイスをいただくことができました。
またその他にも、英語学校設立・起業場所の相談にものっていただきました。

竹内先生にいろいろとアドバイスをいただき、コンサルティングの間に、ホームページをアップしてみましたが、まだまだ確認が取れていない情報が多数あったため、残念ながら昨日のホームページのアップは見送ることにしました。

英語学校起業に関していろいろと固まり次第、情報を発信していきたいと思いますので今後もよろしくお願い致します！

英語学習の入門に最適な映画 - The Never Ending Storyで英語学習を楽しもう

Today, I'm going to introduce a good movie for beginners to learn English.

The movie I'm going to introduce today is entitled "The Never Ending Story", which is a 1984 German and American epic fantasy film.
For me, this movie was the most interesting movie when I was a kid because I still clearly remember that the story was easy to understand and also the characters were very unique.
That's why I clearly remember watching this movie.
From an English learner's point of view, this movie is great especially for beginners.
The English used in the movie is relatively clear and the grammar used in the movie is easy.
So, it's a good movie for beginners to learn English!

今日おすすめの映画は“The Never Ending Story（ネバーエンディングストーリー）”です。

The Never Ending Storyは１９８４年、ドイツ・アメリカで制作・公開されたファンタジー映画です。

自分にとってこの映画は子供の頃に見た映画の中でも、“ストーリーのわかりやすさ”や“登場人物のユニークさ”で一番印象的な作品だったことを覚えています。

英語学習者の視点からこの映画を見ますと、英語学習の入門には最適な作品だと思います。

理由としましては、“英語の発音はクリア”で“使われている文法も簡単”な点です。

これらの点に加え、“ストーリーのわかりやすさ”や“キャラクターのユニークさ”など総合的に考えますと、映画で英語学習の入門には最適だと言えます。

ビジネスの場での相手の言っていることを確認した時に使えるひとこと英語フレーズ

Today, let’s learn some phrases which can be used in business situation.

The point today is to confirm what a person, who you are talking to, is trying to say.
It’s very important to make sure what other people are saying in business situation in order to make & maintain a good relationship.
In order to do so, the following phrases might help you!
For instance:
・Can you be more specific?
・Could you explain (that word)?
・What do you mean by…?
・What exactly do you mean?
・I’m sorry, but I don’t understand…
・Let me confirm this….
・May I confirm what you just said?
・Can I check my understanding?
If the content of the story, which your associate is talking about, is unclear to you, use these phrases to make sure what he/she means!

ビジネスで英語を使う際、相手の言っていることをしっかりと確認・理解することはとても重要です。

下記に紹介するフレーズは、相手の言っていることを確認・理解するのに役立つと思います。

例えば・・・

・Can you be more specific?
（もう少し具体的に言ってもらえますか？）

・Could you explain (that word)?
（（その言葉を）説明していただけますか？）

・What do you mean by…?
（・・・はどういう意味ですか？）

・What exactly do you mean?
（具体的にはどういう意味ですか？）

・I’m sorry, but I don’t understand…
（申し訳ありませんが・・・を理解できません）

・Let me confirm this.
（このことについて確認させてください）

（今、おっしゃったことについて確認させていただいてもよろしいですか？）

・Can I check my understanding?
（私の理解していることを確認してもいいですか？）

ビジネス中の会話で理解が難しい場合は、上記の表現を使って相手の言っていることを確認しましょう。

Today, let's practice improving pronunciation with a tongue twister.
A tongue twister is called "Hayakuchi kotoba" in Japanese, and there are some Japanese ones, such as...
"Bōzu ga byōbu ni jōzu ni bōzu no e o kaita."
(A priest skillfully drew a picture of a priest on folding screen.)
Like Japanese ones, there are a number of English ones, and they are good to practice pronunciation!
Now, let's try one of those!!

"She sells seashells by the seashore.
The shells she sells are surely seashells.
So if she sells shells on the seashore,
I’m sure she sells seashore shells."
