Me No. I think the difference is due to species differences. Each species has a different pregnancy period. We, as humans, are no different. For example, for you Caucasians, perhaps your pregnancy is nine months. But for we Orientals, our pregnancy is surely ten months.

It’s an enigma why, traditionally, in Japan, the pregnancy period is alleged to be ten months and ten days. This is contrary to fact. I think the discrepancy is attributed to the difference in ways of counting ages between the past and the present. In a traditional Japanese manner of counting age (i.e., Kazoe-doshi), in which newborns are considered one year old when they are born, ten months is indeed equal to nine months. So, ten months and ten days is calculated as 9 times 30 plus 10, which is 280 days! Yowza!
なぜ、日本では伝統的に、妊娠期間は10か月と10日と言われているのか謎。事実と異なる。僕はその相違は、昔と今との年の数え方の違いに起因するのだと思う。伝統的な日本の年の数え方（数え年）では新生児は生まれた時を 1歳とみなすので、10か月は実際は9か月に等しい。だから、10か月と10日は9 ｘ 30 + 10と計算されるので280日だ！ どや！
