Provocative Remarks

I saw a talk show several days ago in 
MXTV. Tokyo Governor Ishihara and 
Mr. Kimindo Kusaka was talking on the TV. 
Mr. Ishihara is notorious of his
 provocative remarks about the people
 of the neighboring countries. It's 
like the tactic Ichiro Suzuki used
 when the first WBC games started, 
he said like this "Japanese team 
shall beat Korean team with great 
margin that Korean team cannot feel
 they can win in another 30 years."
 His real remarks were following; 
Ten days before WBC play began, 
he told Nikkan Sports, "I don't 
want to just win. I want the people
 watching to feel that [our play] 
is beautiful and extraordinary. 
I want to win in a way that will
 make [the opposition] think that
 they won't be able to beat us for
 another 30 years." the Koreans 
were angered by Ichiro's remarks 
and played all out to prove him wrong. 
Mr. Kusaka said Japan should declare 
it will possess atomic bombs.
 

　何日か前にMXTVで石原都知事と日下公人との対談番組を見た。石原都知事は隣国の人たちに対する挑発的な言動で知られている。挑発的な言動といえば、イチロー鈴木を思い出す。最初のWBCの試合が行われた時、彼は「日本は韓国を徹底的にたたきのめし、むこう３０年間立ち上がれないくらいにしなければならない」というようなことを言ったと記憶している。本当は次のようなことであったらしい。WBCの試合が始まる１０日前にイチローは日刊スポーツに「向こう３０年間、日本には勝てないなと（相手に）思わせるような勝ち方をしたいですね」と語ったとされる。韓国側は怒り心頭、日本チームを打ち負かしてしまった。日下公人は日本は原子爆弾を持つと宣言すべきだと言っていた。（2009年6月13日記）
