Explanation of "Nishikama-Ridge [Facing Mt. Yari-ga-take]"（西鎌尾根[槍ヶ岳を臨む]の説明文）その6／6

（その後、雷がすぐ近くに落ちる事はありませんでしたが、でも、落雷の音は、時々聞こえました。）
 After that, lightning did not strike nearby, but sometimes the sound of thunder could be heard.

（雨は相変わらず、降ったり止んだりでした。）
 The rain, as no change, fell and stopped.

（歩く速さも、思う様には上がりません。）
 Also my walking speed did not get as fast as I hoped.

（暫く上ると、左手側の尾根を、大きく巻いて登って行く感じになりました。）
 After climbing for a while, it got a situation that it's like climbing over the ridge on the left hand side.

（そこを登って、尾根の左手側に出れば、後どれぐらい登ればよいか、わかるかもしれないと思いました。）
 I thought that if I climbed up there and came out on the left side of the ridge, I might be able to see how far I had to climb.

（多分、千丈沢乗越から槍ヶ岳の肩までの行程の1/4程度（或いはもっと少ないか）しか登っていないだろうから、全体像が分かったとしても、絶望しかないかもしれないとも思いましたが、何らかの目安が欲しかったのも事実です。）
 Since I had felt that I probably only climbed about 1/4 (or less) of the distance from Senjozawa-Nokkoshi to the shoulder of Mt. Yarigatake, even if I realized the whole picture, I thought that I might have nothing but despair, but it is also true that I wanted some kind of criterion.

（その尾根を巻きあがった時には、千丈沢乗越を出発してから40分少々が経過していました。）
 By the time I rolled up the ridge, a little over 40 minutes had passed since I left Senjozawa-Nokkoshi.

（そこに、それはありました。）
 There it was.

（緩やかなスロープ状の道の先に、平たんに見える場所が。）
 At the end of the gently sloping path, there was a place that looked flat.

（そこには、何人もの人影が、うっすら霧で霞んだ先に、見えました。）
 There, I could see the shadows of many people in the fog.

（右手側は、大きな岩に視界が阻まれて、どうなっているか分かりませんでした。）
 On the right hand side, a large rock blocked my view, so I didn't know what of a condition the other side was.

（左手側は、少々平坦になっていましたが、直ぐに起立した急峻な岩肌が見えましたが、その4～5m上は完全に雲の中に隠れ、どうなっているか、全く分かりませんでしたが、槍の穂先ではないかと思いました。）
 The left-hand side was a little flat condition, but I could see a steep rocky surface immediately standing up, but 4-5m above it was completely hidden in the clouds and I had no idea what was a state, but I thought that it might have been a tip of Mt. Yarigatake.

（見える人影の感じは、くつろいだ感じで、ザックも背負っておらず、山を登っている様には見えませんでした。）

 I could not believed the sight in front of me and thought "Really? Did I reached the shoulder of Mt. Yarigatake already!?"

（でも、そうとしか思えません。）
 I could not had believed but there was no doubt of that.

（狐に抓まれた様な不思議な感じに囚われつつも、徐々に足取りは軽くなっていきました。）
 Although I was covered with a mysterious feeling as if I was pinched by fingers of fox, my steps gradually became lighter.

（気が付くと、雨も止んでいました。）
 It suddenly hit me that the rain had already stopped.

（人影に近づくと、全てが確信に変わりました。）
 As I approached the figure, everything turned into conviction.

（本日の目的地、槍ヶ岳の肩に着いたのだと。）
 I was sure "here is today's destination, Mt. Yarigatake's shoulder".

（視界を遮っていた右側の岩の向こうに、本日宿泊する槍ヶ岳山荘が、姿を現しました。）
 Yarigatake Sanso, where I would have stayed today, appeared beyond the rocks on the right side that blocked our view.

（疲れが一気に吹き飛びました。）
 Fatigue blew away at once.

（もう、スキップしたい気分でした。）
 I was in the mood for skipping.

（そして、その長めのスロープを登り聞いた瞬間、心の中は達成感で満たされました。）
 And the moment I climbed that long slope, my heart was filled with a sense of accomplishment.

（しかし、疲れがドッと押し寄せて、足取りは一気に重くなりました。）
 However, fatigue rushed over me, and my steps suddenly became heavy.

（スローモーションの様に、ゆっくりと槍ヶ岳山荘の玄関に入り、そして、ゆっくりと宿帳に記帳し始めました。）
 Like slow motion, I slowly entered the entrance of Yarigatake hut, and slowly began to register in the guest book.

（終わったのだと、ホワッとしていました。）
 I realized that I had overcome this difficulty, and my body and mind were enveloped in a relaxed and gentle moment, if that ambience got sound that the vibe might had echoed "hohwawah".

（多分、それは小屋に入って、1分と経ってなかったでしょう。）
 Maybe it had been less than a minute after I entered the hut.

（小屋の外で、「ドーン！」と言う、爆発音に近い様な音がしました。）
 Outside the hut, a sound "Doooouuuum!", that was similar to an explosion, reverberated.

（それはもう、「ドーン」としか表現の仕様が無い音でした。）
 It was no longer a sound that can only be expressed as "Doooouuuum!".

（記帳はまだ終わってませんでしたが、思わずペンを置いて、玄関の戸を開け、外を見ました。）
 I hadn't finished registering yet, but I couldn't help but put down my pen, opened the front door, and looked outside.

（雨でした。）
 The reason was the rain.

（完全に視界を遮る雨。）
 It was the rain that completely blocked the view.

（1m先も見えませんでした。）
 I couldn't even had seen 1m ahead.

（意味不明な程、強烈な雨。）
 Outrageously heavy rain that didn't make any sense!

（もし、この中を歩かなければならないとしたら…　将に地獄です。）
 If I had to walk through this…  it would have been exactly hell.

（何という幸運。）
 What fortune!

（私の到着を待ってくれた？）
 I wonder it waited for my arrival at hut?

（何が明暗を分けたのでしょう？）
 What made decide the luck?

（考えてみたら、2時間のコースタイムの所を、最終的には45分で登っていました。）
 When I thought about it, without noticing I climbed the 2-hour course time in 45 minutes.

（あれ程、足取りが重くて、速度が遅いと思っていたのに、一般の人の2倍以上の速度で登っていたのです。）
 I thought my steps were so heavy and slow, but I was climbing at more than twice the speed of the average mountain trekkers.

（この事は、自分にとって大きな自信になりました。）
 This experience gave me a lot of confidence.

（また、豪雨に合わなかった幸運(と言うか奇跡？)にも、感謝しかありませんでした。）
 Also, no matter how much I thanked it for the good luck (or rather, miracle?) of not being hit by the ridiculously heavy rain, I couldn't thank it enough.

（この曲は、出だしは双六小屋を後にして、樅沢岳を登った時の、憂鬱で、身体的にもきつかった事をイメージしています。）
 The beginning of this music is the image that was melancholic and physically exhausted when I left behind Sugoroku hut and climbed Mt. Momisawa-dake.

（そして、登り切った時に見た、槍ヶ岳から穂高連峰にかけての、雄大な景色に感動した時のイメージへと続きます。）
 Then, it continues to the image of when I was impressed by the magnificent scenery of the massif from Mt. Yari-ga-take to Mt. Hotaka-dake that I saw when I achieved to climb up Mt. Momisawa-dake.

（その次の、一寸暗めの和風な曲調の部分は、中岳を越えた時の、身体的にきつくて、精神的に憂鬱な状況をイメージしています。）
 The next part, which is slightly darker and has a Japanese-style melody, is an image of the physically and mentally exhausted situation when I crossed Mt. Nakadake.

（続いての軽快な曲調の部分は、中岳を越えてから、左俣岳を超えるまでの、ルンルン気分の山歩きを表現しています。）
 The light melody that follows expresses the feeling of walking with euphoric mood ( the feeling of walking like humming "roon-roon") from Mt. Nakadake to Mt. Hidarimatadake.

（続く和風の曲調部分は、雷の中で「ゴジラの背」を越えた時の、「何！このしょうもない岩場は！　頭にくる！」と思った時のイメージです。）
 The Japanese-style melody part that follows is the image of my thought "What! This rubbish rocky place! Pissed me off!", when I rode across "Godzilla's back" in the lightning strikes!

（その後の、やや穏やかな部分は、千丈沢乗越に着いた時の、寂しくも美しい情景をイメージして作りました。）
 After that, I made the slightly calmer part with the image of the forlorn but gentle and beautiful scene which I got a feeling when I arrived at Senjozawa Nokkoshi.

（ややはっちゃけた、和風っぽい次のパートは、槍ヶ岳に向けての、半ば焼け糞の、最後の登りの部分です。）
 The next part, which is somewhat silly and Japanese style melody, is the image that is grossly desperate mind of the final climb to Mt. Yari-ga-take.

（雨と雷に追われながら、唯只管登った思い出を、曲のイメージとしました。）
 The image of those phrases is the recollection of climbing up with only a utmost effort while being chased by rain and thunder.

（そして、最後の部分は、いきなり訪れた苦難の終焉とその事に対する歓喜と、そして疲れに満ちた緩やかな一日の終りをイメージして作りました。）
 And the last part was made with the image of the demise of the hardship of this trekking that suddenly came, the joy of that, and the slow end of the day full of satisfactory feeling and fatigue.

Explanation of "Nishikama-Ridge [Facing Mt. Yari-ga-take]"（西鎌尾根[槍ヶ岳を臨む]の説明文）その5／6

（ここに到着した時には、雨は一旦上がり、上空の雲の色も薄くなり、周囲はやや明るくなりました。）
 By the time I arrived here, the rain had stopped, the clouds in the sky had begin to become light gradually, and the surroundings had become a little brighter.

（やや朱色掛かった白い光に満たされた、不思議な光景でした。）
 It was a mysterious sight filled with a slightly vermilion white light.

（草木一つない岩場のコルで、なんだか寂しい景色でした。）
 It was a rocky col with no plants, that scenery was somehow a lonesome sight.

（まるで死後の世界の様な。）
 It was felt like life after death.

（しかし、それでいて、なんだか優しい様な、温かい様な。）
 But at the same time, I was felt that the sight was like gentle and warm-hearted.

（寂しさの中に、無償の慈愛がある様な、不思議な景色でした。）
 It was kind of a sacred scenery, as if the forlorn world was embraced in gratuitous affection.

（それは私に、死後の安らぎを、連想させました。）
 It was associated for me with a serenity of an afterlife.

（私がここの到着した時には、既に一人、ここで休憩していました。）
 When I arrived here, a person was already resting here.

（軽く挨拶した後は、お互い無言で、そこに座り込んでいました。）
 After greeting each other lightly, we sat there for a while in silence.

（暫くすると、槍ヶ岳の方から、一人降りてきました。）
 After a while, one person came down from Mt. Yari-ga-take.

（それを合図に、最初に休憩していた人は、飛騨側に降りて行きました。）
 As if that was a signal, the first person to take a rest went down to the Hida side.

（槍平小屋に向かったのでしょう）
 I thought they must have headed for the Yari-daira Hut.

（時刻は16:00頃だったと思います。）
 I think the time was around 16:00.

（山で行動するには、既に遅い時間ですが、槍平までなら直ぐでしょう。）
 For activity in the mountains, it was already so late in time, but I thought he would have reached Yari-daira hut but without taking long.

（問題は、私たち二人です。）

（私は、残りコースタイム2時間の登りを歩かなければなりません。）
 I have to walk the remaining climb of which course time was 2 hours.

（槍ヶ岳から降りてきた人は、ほんの2～3分休憩しただけで、直ぐに千丈沢乗越を後にし、双六小屋の方に向かって行きました。）
 The person who came down from Mt. Yari-ga-take took only a few minutes to rest, then immediately left Senjozawa-Nokkoshi and headed for Sugoroku hut where I came from.

（夕立は中休みの様でしたので、或いは厳しい状況が待ち受けていたかもしれません。）
 The late afternoon shower was on hiatus condition here, but it might be that he had been in a difficult situation in the direction he was headed.

（ただし、夕立雲が湧いていたのは、槍ヶ岳-穂高岳周辺だけの可能性も、否定できませんが。）
 However, I cannot deny the possibility that shower clouds were only around Mt. Yarigatake and Mt. Hotakadake.

（その様な局地的な気象も、山ではありますから。）
 Such local weather conditions are one of mountain's feature.

（一人になったので、私も暫くして、槍ヶ岳に向けて歩き始めました。）
 Since I became alone, after a while, I also started walking towards Mt. Yari-ga-take.

（再度、雨が降り始めたのも、歩き始めた一因です。）
 One of other reason of my starting walking was that it started to rain again.

（時刻は16:10。）
 The time is 16:10.

（雨脚は、直ぐに強くなりました。）
 The rainfall soon got heavier.

（と言っても、歩くのに支障をきたす程には強くはありませんでした。）
 Even so, it wasn't strong enough to interfere with walking.

（それに、雨は降ったり止んだりを繰り返したので、それ程きつい訳ではありませんでした。）
 Besides, it rained on and off, so climbing conditions weren't that hard.

（寧ろ、雷の方が問題でした。）
 Rather, thunder was the matter.

（ここでは、明らかに上空の方で、雷が鳴っていました。）
 Here, explicitly high in the sky, there was thunder.

（歩き出しは、槍ヶ岳の山肌からは、可成り離れていましたので、身を隠す場所が無く、結構心臓に悪い状況でした。）
 When I started walking, it was quite a distance from the surface of Mt. Yari-ga-take, and so there was no place to hide, and it was a pretty bad situation for my heart.

（しかも、疲れが溜まりまくっていましたので、思う様に足が動きません。）
 Moreover, I was so tired that I couldn't move my legs as much as I wanted.

（こんな速度では、コースタイムを大幅に超えてしまうのではないかと、思いました。）
 At such a speed, I thought that I would take time extreme more than the course time.

（2時間どころか、3時間以上掛かるのではないか？）
 I thought, "In such a state, instead of 2 hours, might it take me more than 3 hours to reach my destination?"

（すると、着くのは20：00頃？）
 "Then, I may take up to around 20:00 to arrive at yarigatake hut?"

（真っ暗い中、雨に激しく打たれながら、雷の落ちる中を、恐怖に耐えながら3時間歩く？）
 In pitch darkness, must I walk for three hours with enduring horror to the lightning strikes in hard rain?

（周囲はまだ明るかったのですが、お先真っ暗というやつで…）
 Despite the surroundings were still bright, the future was in the pitch darkness destiny...

（何とか、槍ヶ岳の山肌に取付いた時、落雷の大きな音が、割と近くで鳴りました。）
 When I managed to reach the mountain surface of Mt. Yari-ga-take, the loud sound of thunder struck relatively nearby.

（もう、「ヒイィィィ～ッ」と言う感じでした。）
 The moment, My mind state was just like screaming "Hiiiii…yyyyy…aaaaa…aaaaa…!".

（少し上がった所に、岩の窪みの様な所が有りましたので、そこまで必死で上がり、体をそこに押し付けました。）

（雷に対しては、ほぼ、何の役にも立ってませんでしたが、まあ、気持ちの問題です。）

 In improbable trashy tales, there is a story that in case chased by a lion, ostriches stick its head in a hole in the ground, and they escape reality that even if they are eaten from the buttocks by a lion, they can't see the scene where they are being eaten in their field of vision, so they are not being eaten.

（この時の自分は、まさにそんな感じですよね。（一寸、いや、可成り違うかも…））
 At that time of me is that's exactly how it feels, isn't it? (A little, not yet rather, it may be substantially different…)

（でも、何時までそうしていても、何の解決にもなりません。）

Explanation of "Nishikama-Ridge [Facing Mt. Yari-ga-take]"（西鎌尾根[槍ヶ岳を臨む]の説明文）その4／6

 

（何れにせよ、中岳を過ぎて暫くは、とても快適な山歩きが出来ます。）
 In any case, after passing Mt. Nakadake, everyone can enjoy a very comfortable mountain hike for a while.

（しかし、この快適な山歩きも、左俣岳を過ぎて暫く行った所で終わりを告げます。）
 But, this pleasant mountain hike came to an end when I was after passing Mt. Hidarimatadake.

（道は、左俣岳を過ぎて暫く行くと、少々鬱陶しい岩場に到着します。）
 After passing Mt. Hidarimatadake, the trail reaches a rather annoying rocky place.

（この時は、その岩場の少々手前で、休息を取りました。）
 At this time, I took a rest a little before the rocky place.

（そこに、槍ヶ岳方面から二人の親父がやってきました。）
 There, two guys came from the direction of Mt. Yari-ga-take.

（この日は、途中から雲が湧いてきましたが、まあここまでは、晴れていました。）

（私は、その二人の親父に、「槍ヶ岳の肩からここまで、どのくらい時間が掛かったか」を聞きました。）
 I asked the two misters, "How long did it take from the shoulder of Mt. Yari-ga-take to here?"

（すると、調子の良さそうな方の親父が、答えました。）
 Then one poppa who looked a bumbling buffoon answered.

（「ああ、俺たちは5時間掛かったよ！」）
 He said, "Oh, it took us five hours!"

（「はあ？、何言ってんの？、こいつ！」です。）
 I got annoyed unconsciously and thought, "Huh? What are you talking about? This guy!" .

（千丈沢乗越から槍ヶ岳の肩まで、登りで2時間です。）
 It takes only 2 hours to climb from Senjozawa-nokkoshi to the shoulder of Mt. Yarigatake.

（槍ヶ岳の肩からなら下りなので、その半分ぐらいの筈。（実際は、もっと短い筈））
 From the shoulder of Mt. Yarigatake, it become downhill and so it should be about half that. (Actually it should be able to come down in less time.)

（千丈沢乗越からここまでは、ゆっくり行っても精々20分。）
 From Senjozawa Nokkoshi to here, it takes at most 20 minutes even if you go slowly.

（どうやったら、5時間掛かるんだ？）
 I wonder what kind of walking would take them five hours?

（思わず言っちゃいました。）
 I couldn't help but say it.

（「はあ？私が聞きたかったのは、1時間半で来たのか、2時間掛かったのかと言う事だよ！　どうやったら5時間掛かるんだ？　頭おかしいんじゃないの？」）
 "Huh? What my intention of asking was that for example whether it took an hour and a half or two hours! How you do that takes you 5 hours? I'm sure your brain is nuts?"

（すると彼は、「いや、掛かったんだよ！　実際、掛かったんだから仕方ないだろ！」と叫びました。）
 Then he screamed, "It's sure! It took us that long! As it really took us that long time! So can't be helped!"

（「じゃあ、這って来たのか？横になって転がりながら来たのか？普通に歩いたら、3歳の幼児でも、そんなに掛からないだろうが！」と言ってやりました。(実際は3歳の幼児にはそこを通るのは無理ですが…)）
 I said against him, "So, did you come here by crawling? Or came here while rolling in the condition of lying down? If humans walk normally, even a 3-year-old child wouldn't take that much!" (But to tell you the truth, it is impossible for a 3-year-old child to pass through there…)

（すると、それまでニコニコしていた彼の連れが一寸険しい顔になり、立ち上がって、そいつの服を引っ張りました。）
 Then, his companion, who had been smiling until then, became a little more serious looking, stood up and pulled his clothes.

（「おい、行こう。」と言う事だった様です。）
 Its meaning might be, "Now, I think it's enough for you, OK? Let's leave here!"

（多分、登山初心者を揶揄うつもりだったのでしょう。）
 Perhaps they intended to make fun of novice climbers.

（当時はまだ、登山用品、絶賛揃え中だったりします。）
 At that time, I was still in the middle of buying mountaineering equipment in order to make it fulfilling.

（大分揃っては来ていましたが、まだ、ちぐはぐな所が有ったのでしょう。）
 My mountaineering equipment was pretty well enhanced condition, but there might still be some oddities.

（だから、軽い気持ちで揶揄ったのでしょう。）
 That's why they made fun of me lightly maybe.

（ここから先の行程も、碌にイメージできない筈と思って言った様です。）
 It seems that they thought that I could hardly imagine the trail from here on.

（そんな私から思わぬ反撃に合い、ヤバいと言う事になったのかもしれません。）
 They may have met with an unexpected counterattack from such me, and they may have thought that they would be defeated instead.

（まあ、そいつらの様なボケに構っている暇はありませんけどね！）
 Well, I had no time to care about dementians like them!

（この場合は、命に関わる悪いケースでした。）
 This time was one of a bad case that could have been a life-threatening.

（その先の岩場は、アップダウンを繰り返し、結果として水平に移動したのと同じで、到着地点の標高はほとんど変わらないと言った場所です。（実際は、若干標高は上がります。））
 The makeup of the rocky area ahead is repeatedly ups and downs and the altitude of the arrival point is almost the same, so the result is the same that you move horizontally but the terrain doesn't make you let such move. (Actually the elevation become slightly higher.)

（通称、「ゴジラの背」です。）
 It is commonly called "Godzilla's Back".

（ここで休憩している間に一気に天気は悪化し、この岩場に入る頃には雨が降り始めました。）
 While resting here, the weather suddenly deteriorated, and it started to rain when I entered this rocky area.

（最初は小雨程度でしたが、次第に雨脚は強くなり、雷も鳴り始めました。）
 At first, it was just a light rain, but it gradually got stronger and thunder began.

（よく見ると、稜線の下の雲が、ピカピカ光っています。）
 Looking closely, the clouds below the ridgeline were shining brightly with causing halation.

（山では、雷は上から落ちて来るものと言う常識は、必ずしも通用しません。）
 At mountains, the common sense that lightning strikes from above doesn't work necessarily.

（側撃雷と言うのが有ります。）
 There is something called a side lightning strike.

（山の斜面に落ちた雷は、条件によっては、そこから面状に広がります。）
 Depending on the conditions, lightning that strikes the slope of a mountain spreads out in a plane from there.

（有名な、西穂高岳の独標での、深志高校生の落雷死は、側撃雷も絡んでいます。）
 The famous lightning death of many Fukashi High School students at Mt. Nishi-hodaka-dake was caused by side lightning strike.

（1撃の落雷で、11人が即死しました。）
 A single lightning strike killed 11 students in no time.

（その死者の状況は凄惨で、駆け付けた西穂山荘の親父さんは、「とても直視できるものでは無かった…」と言っています。）
 The situation of the deceased was horrific, and the owner of Nishiho Hut, who rushed to the scene, said, "It was flagrantly impossible I could look directly at… ".

（尾根の下から、山の斜面に沿って、下から這い上がって来た雷に撃ち抜かれて死んだ人の話を、既に私は聞いていました。）
 By that time, I had already heard stories that there were persons being struck dead by side lightning strike that crawled up from below the ridge as to along the slope of the mountain.

（私も何時、雷に撃ち抜かれるか分かりません。）
 I didn't know when I'll have been struck by lightning, too.

（頭の芯が痺れる様な状況で、鎖を使って幾つものピークを必死で越えて行きました。）
 In a situation where the core of my head was likely numb, I desperately went over several peaks using chains.

（結局、雷に撃ち抜かれる事は無く、何とか「ゴジラの背」を通り抜け、千丈沢乗越に到着しました。（だから今、これを書けています。））
 After all, I managed to pass through "Godzilla's back" without being struck by lightning and arrived at Senjozawa Nokkoshi. (For the reason, still now I'm able to be writing this.)

Explanation of "Nishikama-Ridge [Facing Mt. Yari-ga-take]"（西鎌尾根[槍ヶ岳を臨む]の説明文）その3／6

（でも、取敢えずは、目の前の中岳を越えて行かなければなりません。）
 But for the time being, I have to cross Mt. Nakadake in front of me.

（これも、大した山ではありません。）
 It's also trifling mountain.

（ピークは、この樅沢岳よりやや低い。）
 The peak is slightly lower than this Mt. Momisawa-dake.

（しかも、登山用地図によると、道は中腹を巻くことになっていますので、楽勝だと思いました。）
 Moreover, according to the mountain climbing map, the road is supposed to go across around the middle, so I thought it would be easy to cross.

（しかし、道は一旦、一気に下ってからの取付きになるので、「橋を架けろ！」と、心の中で叫んでいました。）
 However, the trail to Mt. Nakadake is descending at once, so I shouted in my heart, " Build a bridge!"

（中岳への登りは、思った以上にきつかったです。）
 The climb to Mt. Nakadake was harder than my prospect.

（登れども、登れども、巻道にならない。）
 As Climbed on and on, but it didn't turn into the traverse.

（山頂は、どんどん近づいて来ます。）
 The summit was getting closer and closer.

（体は思った以上に辛く、なんだか眩暈もするようでした。）
 My body was more run-down than I thought, and I felt dizzy.

（「ここまで来たら、もういっそ、山頂からの景色が見たいわ！」と思った頃、一寸だけ巻道が有りました。）
 When I thought, "Once I've come this far, I rather want to see the scenery from the summit!", just little a bit, the traverse was exist.

（「山頂からの景色は、見せんのかーい！」と、心の中で毒づき乍ら、歩いたものです。）
 I was walking on while abusing "Why doesn't it let me show the view from the top of the mountain?!"

（中岳を通り過ぎると、一気に楽になりました。）
 After passing through Mt. Nakadake, the trail suddenly became easier.

（道はほぼ平坦でした。）
 The path was mostly flat.

（軽いアップダウンはありますが、それは寧ろ良いアクセントになりました。）
 There are some slight ups and downs, but rather it turned out to be a moderately good load.

（景色も変化に富んでいて、見ていて飽きませんでした。）
 The scenery was really varied, so I never got bored of looking at it.

（澄んだ青空と雄大な景色を背景に、お花畑あり、湿地有り、二重山稜（舟窪地形）あり…　）
 Against the clear blue sky and majestic scenery, there are natural wildflower gardens, wetlands, and double ridges (it's called Funakubo topography in Japan)...

（将に、この世の楽園と言った感じでした。）
 Exactly, it felt like a paradise on earth.

（それまで重かった足取りが、一気に軽くなりました。）
 I had walked with heavy-footed condition until then, suddenly became lighter.

（最早、ルンルン気分です。）
 I became in so high mood at that time.

（でも、左手側には、硫黄尾根の異様な姿が有りました。）
 But on the left hand side, there was a strange figure of Iou Ridge(meaning of "Iou" is sulfur).

（硫黄尾根は、亜硫酸ガスの所為で、山体自体はボロボロです。）
 Due to sulfurous acid gas, the whole of Iou Ridge itself is crumbling.

（そのおどろおどろしい姿は、この雄大で美しい景観の中にあっては、一寸場違いな感じもしますが、これこそが自然なのだと思います。）
 Its ominous appearance may feel a little out of place in this majestic and beautiful landscape, but I think that this is what nature is all about.

（でも、鳥を初めとする野生動物の死骸が点々と転がっていたりして、どうしても異様な感じは否めないかな？）
 But you wouldn't help but feel strange with the dead bodies of wild animals, including birds, lying here and there.

（雪の無い季節には、人がここを訪れる事は出来ませんが、雪が有る季節は来る事も可能です。）
 It is impossible that you visit here in the season without snow, but it is　not that it's impossible in the season when there is a lot of snow.

（しかし、相当危ない。）
 However, it is quite dangerous.

（噴き出した亜硫酸ガスの熱で、雪の内部が壺状に溶け、誤って、人がその上面を踏み抜いて中に落ちると、ほぼ即死です。）
 The heat of the gushing sulfuric acid gas melts the inside of the snow into a jar shape, and if persons accidentally step through the top surface and fall inside, they should die almost instantly.

（溜まった亜硫酸ガスを吸い込むと、肺の中で水と反応して亜硫酸になり、キサントプロテン反応が起きるため、一呼吸で肺胞が瞬時にボロボロになり、肺がガス交換出来なくなり、酸素が全く取り込めなくなって、窒息死するからです。）
 When you suck in accumulated sulfurous acid gas, it reacts with water in your lungs to form sulfurous acid, and due to the xanthoprotein reaction, but you inhale one breath only, the alveoli instantly become tattered, so you are not able to exchange gas in your lungs, therefore you should suffocate to death due to unable to be absorbed oxygen into your body.

（この尾根では、そういった事故が、以前、起きた様です。）
 On this ridge, such an accident seems to have happened before.

（この尾根の左側に、硫黄や何らかの金属成分によって、青み掛かった白い水や、赤味掛かった黄色い水等流れています。）
 On the left side of this ridge, bluish white water, reddish yellow water, etc. are flowing due to sulfur or some kind of metal component.

（硫黄沢と言います。）
 It is called "Iou-Zawa (its meaning is "Sulfur Stream")".

（当然、魚は住めません。）
 Of course, fish can't live there.

（しかし、その沢の中間地点に、樅沢と言う清流が流れ込んでいます。）
 By the way, a clear stream called Momi-Sawa flows into the middle point of Iou-Zawa.

（この沢には、大量の岩魚が居ます。）
 There live a lot of fish named "Iwana" in this stream.

（どうやって、この沢に魚は住み着いたんでしょうねぇ～？！）
 Do you wonder how the fish settle down in this stream?

（その事は、昔は一部の釣り人や山屋しか知らない事実でした。）
 People who knew that fact back then were only a few anglers and several mountaineer.

（しかし、彼らの多くは、硫黄沢で外界から隔絶されたこの沢に、何故岩魚が居るのかまでは、知りませんでした。）
 Nevertheless, most of them didn't know why there were "Iwana" fish in this stream isolated from the outside world by "Iou-Zawa" stream.

（でも当時から、極一部の山屋は、何故、そこに岩魚が居るのかを知っていました。）
 But at that time, just a few parts of mountaineers knew why Iwana fish inhabited there.

（私も、その一人でした。）
 I was one of those who knew about it.

（その理由は、黒部の仙人と言われた名猟師の遠山品衛門さんが、息子の富士弥さんや兵三郎さんや、その他の猟師さんと共に、黒部の源流から生きたまま、ここに岩魚を搬送したからです。）
 The reason for this is that the famous hunter, Shinaemon Toyama, who was called "The Hermit of Kurobe", transported Iwana fish alive from the headwaters of Kurobe with his sons Fujiya and Hyouzaburo, and other hunters.

（その方法とは、大きな樽を二つ用意し、その二つを水で満たし、片方に岩魚を入れ、もう片方は、岩魚が入った桶の水が運ぶ途中で零れて少なくなったものを補充するのに使用して、水を絶やすことなく岩魚を搬送すると言うものでした。）
 The method was that they prepared two large barrels, filled them with water, put Iwana fish in one, and another was used to replenish the Iwana's barrel with water in the case of spilling water out from Iwana's barrel during transportation, therefore they accomplished to carry live Iwana fish to Momi-sawa without running out of water. 

（これは、超人的な彼らだからこそ、成し得た事なのです。）
 Because of transcending human, they were able to achieve it.

（詳細は「黒部の山賊」と言う本に書いてあります。）
 The details are written in the book "Kurobe-no-Sanzoku(meaning: Bandit of Kurobe)".

（その当時、「黒部の山賊」という本は、一般の書店では売られておりませんでした。）
 At that time, the book "Kurobe-no-Sanzoku" was not sold at ordinary bookstores.

（昭和39年刊行の古本を、池袋に有った古本屋で見つけて購入していたので、その本に書かれていた、この事実を知っていたのです。）
 I found and bought this book as used book published in 1964 at a used book store in Ikebukuro, so I knew this fact which was written in the book.

（定価390円の本が2500円もしましたよ！）
 The book with a list price of 390 yen(3 dollars : 130 yen/dollars) cost 2500 yen(19 dollars 23 cent : 130 yen/dollars)!

（この本は、今では復刻版が売られているので、多くの人が知っている事実となりました。）
 This book is now sold as a reprinted edition, so it has become this fact that many people know.

Explanation of "Nishikama-Ridge [Facing Mt. Yari-ga-take]"（西鎌尾根[槍ヶ岳を臨む]の説明文）その2／6

 

（この曲は「西鎌尾根」となっていますが、その取付き点は双六小屋と言う山小屋になっています。）
 The title of this music is "Nishikama-Ridge", and an attachment point of this trail is a mountain hut called Sugoroku-goya.

（このコースは幾度となく歩いていますが、今回の曲のイメージは、一番心に残っている、最初にここを辿った時のものです。）
 I've walked this course many times, but the image of this music is from my first time trek of this trail, because that time sticks in my mind the most.

（最初に訪れた時は、朝、高天原山荘を出て、岩苔小谷からワリモ岳・鷲羽岳を経て三俣山荘から双六巻道を通り、この双六小屋に辿り着きました。）
 When my first time of this trail walking, I left Takamagahara hut in the morning, passed through Mt. Warimo and Mt. Washiba from Iwagoke-Kotani, and arrived at Mitsumata hut, and after that went through the Sugoroku-Makimiti, and after that I reached Sugoroku-goya.

（ここまでの登山地図でのコースタイムは7時間10分ですが、朝7:00に高天原山荘を出て、11:30分にここに着いたので、3時間半で、ここまで歩いています。）
 The course time on the mountain climbing map so far is 7 hours and 10 minutes, but I left Takamagahara hut at 7:00 in the morning and arrived here at 11:30, so I walked to here in 3.5 hours.

（因みに、登山を開始してから高天原小屋迄、4日間歩いていました。）
 In addition, I walked for four days from the start of climbing to Takamagahara hut.

（加えて、この朝の行程ですから、双六小屋に着いた時は、結構疲労がたまっていました。）
 Furthermore, since it was a morning trip, I was quite tired when I arrived at Sugoroku-goya.

（昼食と昼寝を兼ねて、ここで1時間半逗留した事は、許されるべきではないかと考えています。（そんな、どうでも良い事、誰も非難しないよね！））
 I think that no one should be to criticize to have stayed here for an hour and a half, combining lunch and a nap.（Maybe it's so indifferent matter to anyone, then no one would blame it!)

（13:00、槍ヶ岳に向かうため、双六小屋を後にしました。）
 At 13:00, I left the Sugoroku-goya to head to Mt. Yarigatake.

（一寸した決断でした。）
 It was a determination but maybe an insignificant.

（意を決して、一歩を踏み出しました。）
 I made up my mind and took a step forward.

（目前には、樅沢岳が聳えています。）
 Mt. Momisawa-dake had towered in front of me.

（聳えると言う表現は、適切ではありません。）
 The expression of "had towered" is quite not appropriate.

（大したピークではありませんので。）
 It's a petty peak.(The standard course time on the climbing map is 45 minutes.)

（でも、疲れた体には、登るのに決断を要する程、精神的には結構しんどい状況でした。）
 However, my tired body was in such a tough mental state so it's necessary to make a decision to climb.

（一歩を踏み出した時の気分は、最悪でした。）
 My mind was like having fell down to the hell when I took the first step.

（その頃の登山地図では、双六小屋から樅沢岳の山頂まで45分。）
 According to the mountain climbing map at that time, it took 45 minutes from Sugoroku hut to the summit of Mt. Momisawa-dake.

（樅沢岳から千丈沢乗越迄、3時間。）
 It took 3 hours from Mt. Momizawa-dake to Senjozawa-Nokkoshi.

（千丈沢乗越から槍ヶ岳山荘迄2時間の行程でした。）
 It took two hours from Senjozawa-nokkoshi to Yarigatake-Sanso.

（（ただし、現在に地図では、双六小屋から槍ヶ岳山荘迄のコースタイムは、4時間45分に短縮されています。））
 (However, the current map shows that the course time from Sugoroku-goya to Yarigatake-sanso is shortened to 4 hours and 45 minutes.)

（コースタイム通りなら、槍ヶ岳山荘に着くのは19：00頃になってしまいます。）
 If following the course time, no matter how fast I might have arrived at Yarigatake-Sanso still around 19:00.

（疲れた体には、それも否定できない様な状況でした。）
 To my tired body, it was a situation that I could not deny.

（疲れた体に鞭打つ様に、唯只管、登りました。）
 As if whipping my tired body, I simply climbed.

（山頂は直ぐそこなのに、登っても、登っても届かない感じでした。）
 The summit was right there, but I felt like I couldn't reach it no matter how hard I climbed.

（諦めて、双六小屋に泊まろうかと考える程、心は弱っていました。）
 My heart was so weak that I thought of giving up and staying at the Sugoroku-goya.

（諦めずに登っていると、終に山頂に届きました。）
 When I climbed without giving up, I reached the summit before I knew it.

（初めて目にする光景でした。）
 It was the first time I saw it.

（目の前に、槍ヶ岳から穂高岳に繋がる雄大な岩峰群の大パノラマが広がっていました。）
 In front of me was a vast panorama of the magnificent group of rocky peaks that stretched from Mt. Yari-ga-take to Mt. Hotaka-dake.

（何処までも清々しい青空を背景に、そそり立つ雄々しい姿は、心の中の全てを開放してくれる様でした。）
 Against the endlessly refreshing blue sky, the soaring majestic figure seemed to liberate everything in my mind.

（涙が出そうでした。）
 My tears were about to overflow.

（登山を始めて間が無い、あの頃の自分にとっては、最高のご褒美でした。）
 For me, who had just started climbing, it was a best reward that was nothing to alternate.

（この景色が見れただけでも、ここに来てよかったと思ったものです。）
 Even with just seeing this view made me happy to come here.

（「これから、あの雄大な山々に向かって歩いて行くのだ」と思っただけで、心がワクワクしました。）
 Just thinking, "I'm about to walk towards those majestic mountains," made me excite.
