Explanation of "Nishikama-Ridge [Facing Mt. Yari-ga-take]"(西鎌尾根[槍ヶ岳を臨む]の説明文)その1/6


(今回の一連のアップロードに際し、最初の投稿「上高地の春」の説明文で、「別のある曲が出来上がらず、投稿が先延ばしとなっていました。」と書きましたが、その「別な曲」こそ、この曲です。)
 In this series of uploads, I wrote in the explanation of the first post, "Spring In Kamikochi", "but one wasn't finished, and it was the reason that I postponed uploading the series of music.", and the one is exactly this music.

(同じく、その説明文の中で「完成が手間取った曲については、その投稿の時に理由を書きます。」と書いておりましたので、その事について、先ず述べたいと思いました。)
 Similarly, in the description, I wrote, "For music that took a long time to complete, I will write the reason at the time of uploading.", so I was willing to  talk about that first.

(しかし、その前に、先ず書いておきたい事がございます。)
 But before that, I have something to want to write first.

(それは、今回の曲のアップロードまでに、2週間の期間を要した事についてです。)
 It's about the reason that it took two weeks to upload this music.


(理由は、私のPCが、2月14日(火)から2月19日(日)まで、殆どフリーズして動かなかったためです。)
 The reason is that my PC was just about completely frozen and did not work from February 14th (Tuesday) to February 19th (Sunday).

(原因はWindows11の更新プログラムが走っていたためです。)
 The cause (or the source of the reason) was that Windows 11 updates were running.

(私のPCは、更新が入る度に、そうなってしまうのです。)
 My PC is absolutely getting this way with every update.

(これは、私が使用しているパソコンのメーカ仕様の様です。)
 It seems to be the manufacturer's specification for the PC which I've used since once.

(「仕様って… 、どんなメーカーだよ!」と、取敢えず突込みを入れておきたいと思います。)
 For now, I think to make a "tsukkomi", "Specifications… What kind of manufacturer!"


(閑話返題)
 I'ld return to the main topic.

(今回の一連のアップロード曲は、この次の「雲渡る秩父平」も含め、殆どが去年の5月の初めには、出来ていました。)
 Most of the music I'm going on uploading this time, including the next one, "Chichibudaira where is flowing cloud," were completed at the beginning of May last year.

(唯一の例外が、この曲です。)
 The only exception is this music.


(理由は、曲が出来上がる度に、イメージと違うと思ったからです。)
 The reason is that every time a music composition was completed, I felt it was different from my image.

(最初は、その原因が分からず、ただ徒に新しいフレーズを考え続けました。)
 At first, I didn't know why, and just kept creating new music phrases.

(流れが変わったのは、去年の10月です。)
 It was last October that the tide of my thought about composing turned.


(曲を作るに際し、この行程を歩いた時の情景を、最初から1つずつ思い浮かべてみました。)
 In the process of composing this music, I tried to imagine the scene when I walked this trekking route one by one from the beginning.

(そして、気が付きました。)
 And then I realized.

(この道筋を思い浮かべる時、場所毎にイメージが全然違う事に。)
 When I thought about the scene of this route, the image was completely different for each place.

(それを1つのフレーズで表現しようとして、ドツボに嵌っていたのです。)
 I had being stuck my foot in a field latrine trying to express it in one phrase.

(そして、一つの決断をしました。)
 And then, I made a decision.

(その場所毎の曲を作って、くっ付けようと。)
 As one music I thought to want to combine them for each other that were made compose for each place.

(所謂… オムニバス形式?コンピレーション?の曲?なのかな?)
 So-called… omnibus form music? or Compilation? , one of these is a right expression of like this music? I wonder how expression this… .

(「「芋繋ぎのダサい曲だ!」と言われてもいいや、!」と開き直って、作りました。)
 I desided I did not adhere to everything like opinions "It's a lame music like connecting scraggly potatoes together into one!", and therefore I composed it.


(結果として出来たのが、この曲です。)
 As a result of that, this music was composed.

(実際、しょうもない曲かもしれませんが、苦労しただけに、思い入れはあります。)
 The fact is that it may be a boring music, but because of having just a hard time, I have a lot of feelings about it.

(寄せ集め感は拭えないかもしれませんが、辿った道の場所毎の感じ方が違うので、仕方がないのですよ。)
 You may not be able to get rid of the hodgepodge feeling, but it can't be helped because the feeling of each place along the road is so different.

Explanation of "Great Killet[Mt. Kita-Hotaka In Morgenrot]"(大キレット[モルゲンロートの北穂高岳]の説明文)


(この曲は、日本最大の岩峰群である穂高岳連峰の中央部に位置する北穂高岳と大キレットを題材にした曲です。)
 This music is based on the motif of "Mt. Kita-Hodaka" and "Great Killet" located in the central part of the Hodaka mountain range, the largest group of rocky peaks in Japan.

(この岩峰群は、北は槍ヶ岳に端を発し、南は西穂高岳迄続いています。)
 This group of rocky peaks originates from Mt. Yari-ga-take in the north and continues to Mt. Nishi-Hotaka in the south.

(槍ヶ岳[3180m]からピークを辿って行くと、大喰岳[3101m]、中岳[3084m]、南岳[3033m]と続き、その南に北穂高岳[3106m]が有ります。)
 If you follow the peak from Mt. Yari-ga-take [3180m], next is Mt. Ohbami-dake [3101m], continueing to Mt. Naka-dake [3084m], Mt. Minami-dake [3033m], and further south of that, there is Mt. Kita-Hodaka [3106m].

(そして、南岳と北穂高岳の間にあるのが、大キレットです。)
 And between Mt. Minami-dake and Mt. Kita-Hotaka is the "Great Killet".


(「キレット」とは鞍部の事です。)
 The meaning of "Killet" is a col(= saddle).

(当然、日本語です。)
 Of course, it's a Japanese language.

(ただし、信州地方の方言で、一般的な言葉ではありません。)
 However, it is a dialect of the Shinshu region and is not a common word.

(私が登山を始めた頃は、この事実を知らない人は大勢いました。(ただし、今は少数派かもしれませんが…))
 When I started climbing mountains, many trekkers didn't know this fact.(But now, it's maybe a minority…)

(登山用の地図に片仮名で「キレット」と表記されていたためかもしれません。)
 It may be because it was written as "キレット(kiretto)" in katakana on the climbing-map.

(カタカナ表記は外来語が多かったので…)
 Because in many case, the word written by katakana notation is used to express a foreign word… .

(漢字で書くと「切戸」です。)
 In case "killet" write in kanji, it's "切戸".

(「キレット」と言う表記も日本語的ではないので、外来語と間違えやすかったかもしれません。)
 The notation "キレット(Kiretto)" is also not like Japanese language, so it may have been easy to mistake it for a loanword.

(「キレット」を日本語として発音するなら、綴りは「Kiretto]でしょう。)
 If you pronounce "キレット(Kiretto)" in Japanese, the spelling would be "Kiretto".

(しかし、外来語と勘違いしていた当時の日本人は、「Killet」と発音していましたので、その様に表記しました。)
 However, many of Japanese people at that time misunderstood it as a foreign word and pronounced it "Killet", so I wrote it that way.

(因みに、鞍部の標準的な日本語表記は「鞍部」です。)
 By the way, the standard Japanese notation for col is "Anbu(鞍部)".

(しかし鞍部には、日本では他にも、地方によって様々な言い方が有ります。)
 Even though, in Japan, there exist various ways to say "col" depending on the region.

(北アルプスの北部(越中)では、「窓(まど)」と言います。)
 In Etchu where is the northern part of the Northern Alps, it’s called “mado(窓)”.

(飛騨地方や南信地方では「乗越(のっこし)」と言います。)
 In the Hida and Nanshin regions, it is called "Nokkoshi(乗越)".

(関東の方では「ダワ」と言います。)
 In the Kanto region, it is called "Dawa(ダワ)".

(中国地方では「乢(たわ)」と言うそうです。)
 In the Chugoku region, it's seemed to say "Tawa(乢)".

(幾つかの地方では「弛み(たるみ)」と言う様です。)
 In some regions, it seems to be called "tarumi(弛み)[meaning is 'sag']".

(或いは「ダワ」や「乢(たわ)」の語源が「弛み(たるみ)」かもしれません。)
 Probably the etymology of "dawa" and "tawa" would be "tarumi(弛み)".


(大キレットは、日本にある鞍部の中でも特に規模が大きい。)
 "Great Killet" is particularly large scale col in Japan.

(標高3000m超えの稜線から、一気に300m下り、そこから1km程横移動して、標高3106mの北穂高岳の頂に向けて、一気に登って行きます。)
 From the ridgeline at an altitude of over 3000m, descend 300m at a stretch, move laterally about 1km from there, and climb at a stretch toward the summit of Kitahotakadake at an altitude of 3106m.

(したがって、大キレットを挟んで北穂高岳に臨むと、非常に雄大な景観を目の当たりにするでしょう。)
 So if you face Mt. Kita-Hotaka across the Great Killet, you would witness a very magnificent scenery.


(私は、大キレットを越えて北穂高岳に登った事が、3度あります。)
 I have climbed Mt. Kitahotaka-dake over the Great Killet three times.

(でも、一番心に残っているのは、1番最初に行った時です。)
 But the most memorable moment was that I first went there.

(あの時は、北穂高岳の頂上直下(と言うより、ほぼ頂上。行けば分かる。)にある北穂高小屋に泊まりました。)
 At that time, I stayed at Kitahotaka-Hut, which is located directly below the summit of Mt. Kita-Hotaka(Or rather, almost at the top. You'll recognize if you go there.).


(朝、起きて、小屋の外に出た時は、まだ日の出前でした。)
 When I waked up in the early morning and went out of the hut, it was still before sunrise.

(北穂高岳の上空は、結構雲っぽかったかもしれません。(はっきり覚えていません… ))
 The sky above Mt. Kita-Hotaka may have been cloudy to extent. (I've not apparent recollection… )

(しかし、松本平や穂高町方面は晴れていました。)
 However, Matsumoto-daira and Hotaka town were that the weather cleared up.

(しかし、上田や塩田平、或いは浅間山方面は雲が厚く、落雷も有った様で、その厚い雲が幾度となくハレーションを起こしていました。)
 Ueda, Shiota-daira, and direction at Mt. Asama were covered with thick clouds, and lightning seemed to have been striking them, and the thick clouds caused halation many times.

(そして、やがて日の出となりました。)
 And before long, the sun came up.


(日が昇る方面は、地平付近とそのやや上に幅の薄い雲が有りました。)
 In the direction of the rising sun, there were thin clouds near the horizon and slightly above it.

(太陽は、その雲の間へと昇って行きました。)
 The sun was rising from down side cloud to up side cloud.

(じりじりと太陽の光が届き始め、周囲が真っ赤に染まって行きました。)
 The sun's rays gradually began to arrive, and the surroundings were dyed bright red.

(頭が痛くなるほどの赤さでした。)
 It was too red, therefore I got a feeling so as to headache.

(周囲は空気まで真っ赤になってしまった様でした。)
 Even the air around me seemed to turn red.


(モルゲンロートの北穂高岳は、きっと雄大で、美しい姿をしていた事でしょう。)
 Mt. Kita-Hotaka in Morgenroth must have been majestic and beautiful.

(でも、私には見れませんでした。)
 But I couldn't see it.

(なぜなら、その山頂に居たから。)
 Because I was on that mountaintop.

(ただ、頭の中でイメージするだけでした。)
 It was only way to imagine it in my mind.

(完全に妄想モードが爆走していた私の脳内では、周囲の山々の山小屋に泊まった登山者が、感涙に打ち震えながら歓声を上げる様が、ありありと浮かんでいました。)
 In my brain, which overdrove me to be completely in delusional mode, I vividly pictured that the climbers staying at the mountain huts in the surrounding mountains, were cheering with trembling with tears of gratitude.

(今、私が居るこの山は、この時は間違いなく日本で一番神々しい場所であると感じていたのです。)
 When of that time I had felt that this mountain, where I was that time, was without a doubt the most divine place in Japan.


(この曲は、その時のイメージです。)
 This music is the image of that time.

(太陽が地平から顔を出し、じりじりとした強烈な光が、周囲の山々も皆、徐々に朱に染め上げて行き、やがては朝の爽やかで穏やかな景色へと移り変わって行く感じです。)
 A feeling is that the sun peeks out from the horizon, and the intense, piercing light gradually turns the surrounding mountains into a vermilion color, and eventually the scenery changes to the refreshing and peaceful morning.

(この感じが伝わればいいんだけど…)
 I wish I could have conveyed this impression… .

Explanation of "The Legend Of Mikuri-ga-ike["Tateyama" being snowy and rugged]"(みくりが池伝説[白峰の立山])の説明


(これは、日本の北アルプスの北部にある、「みくりが池」と呼ばれる小さな湖に纏わる伝説を題材にした曲です。)
 This music's motif is based on a legend about a small lake called "Mikuri-ga-ike" in the northern part of Northern Alps in Japan.

(この湖があるのは、日本の三大霊山の一つ、立山の山頂近くの室堂と呼ばれる所です。)
 This lake is located in a place called Murodoh near the summit of Mt. Tateyama, one of Japan's three great sacred mountains.

(近くと言っても、山頂との標高差は500mぐらいありますが…)
 Even I have described it's near the summit , but the altitude difference with the summit is so much about 500m… .


(日本語に詳しい人は、こう言うかもしれません、「湖と言っているが、[ike]なんだから池だろう?」と。)
 Someone familiar with Japanese might say, "You said it's a lake, but [ike] is a pond, isn't it?"

(私は、この[ike]が涸れたのを見た事が有りません。)
 I have never seen this [ike] went drying up.

(多分地下水脈と繋がっているのではないかと思っています。)
 I think maybe it's connected to the underground water vein.

(定義上、外部からの水の供給が有れば、「湖」と言う事になります。)
 By definition, in case there is an external water supply, it's a "lake".


(みくりが池伝説は、「伝説」と大見えを切った割には、結構しょうもない話です。)
 Even though it's declared a "legend" proudly, "The legend of Mikuri-ga-ike" is quite boring.

(美女が白鳥になって、恋人と共に空の彼方に飛んで行ったりはしません。)
 It dosen't come up a story such as a beautiful lady turns into a swan and flies away with her lover.


(伝説は、以下の通りです。)
The legend is as follows.

(昔、同じく日本の三大霊山の一つである越前の白山に、「小山法師」と呼ばれる仏教の修行僧が居ました。)
 A long time ago, there lived a Buddhist trainee monk called "Koyama Houshi" at Mt. Hakusan in Echizen, which is also one of Japan's three great sacred mountains.

(この修行僧が、立山の室堂を訪ねました。)
 The monk visited Murodoh in Tateyama.

(立山の室堂も、仏教の修行が盛んにおこなわれていました。)
 Murodoh in Mt. Tateyama was also actively performed in Buddhist hard training.

(室堂側は、「延命坊」に案内役をさせました。)
 The Murodoh side made "Enmeiboh" act as a inspection guide.


(※「小山法師」の読み方ですが、「Koyama Houshi」としましたが、もしかしたら「Oyama Houshi」かもしれませんし、「Shousen Houshi」かもしれませんし、或いは全く違うかもしれません。)
 ※ Regarding the reading of "小山法師," I have writen it as "Koyama Houshi," but it could be "Oyama Houshi," "Shousen Houshi," or something completely different.

(何れの修験場も、日本三大霊山ですから、互いに対抗心を抱いていた事でしょう。)
 Both of the training place are one of Japan's three great sacred mountains, so they must have had a rivalry with each other.

(みくりが池を案内した時、「小山法師」が言っちゃいました、「何と可愛らしい池だ。越前の"種付け池(畑に水をやるための溜池)"の方がましだよ!"と。)
 When "Koyama Houshi" inspected the "Mikuri-ga-ike", he blurted out, "What a cutely poor pond. 'Tane-tuke-ikes' (reservoirs for watering the fields) in Echizen are still better than it!"

(言われた「延命坊」は、腸が煮えくり返った事でしょう。)
 "Enmeiboh" who was said so must have been boiled over the innards by anger.

(怒りを堪えて言いました、「種付け池と言われるなら、泳ぐ事ぐらい、容易いでしょう? どうです?、泳いでみては!」。)
 He held back his anger and said, "If it's only a "tane-tuke-ike" extent, then it's easy for you to swim, isn't it? Why don't you try swimming!"


(この「みくりが池」は、「八寒地獄」と呼ばれた場所で、8月頃まで湖の中に雪が残っていたりします。)
 This "Mikuri-ga-ike" is also a place called "Hakkan-Jigoku" that mean is eight cold hell, and snow can remains in the lake until around August.

(真夏でも、水は0℃をいくらか上回る程度だったかもしれません。)
 Even in the middle of summer, the water may have been degree to a few above 0℃(=32℉).

(因みに、周囲の長さは公称で631mです。)
 By the way, the nominal perimeter of this lake is 631m.


(言っちゃった手前、「小山法師」も後には引けません。)
 As "Koyama Houshi" blurted out it, so he could have been no turning back.

(「嗚呼、それは、いと容易き事。」と言って、見事な抜き手泳ぎを披露して、湖を1周しました。)
 "Ah, it's so easy, no matter!" he said, and with showing off an excellent sidestroke-swim, he circumnavigated the lake.


(そして、湖から上がって、こう言い放ちました、「暑くて堪らなかったので、丁度よい涼を得た。」。)
 Then he waded ashore out of the lake and insisted, "As the heat was unbearable, so I got just the right amount of coolness."

(すると「延命坊」は、「たったそれだけで満足したのか? もっと泳いだらどうよ!」と勧めました。)
 "Enmeiboh" then suggested, "Why are you satisfied with just that? You must be driven by the desire to swim more!, mustn't you?"

(「小山法師」は、「えっ、いいの? じゃあ遠慮なく!」といって、「みくりが池」に再び飛び込みました。)
 "Koyama Houshi" said, "Eh, is that no problem? All right! Then don't hesitate!", and jumped into "Mikuri-ga-ike" again.

(そして、湖を更に三周回った所で、湖の底に引き込まれ、そのまま戻ってきませんでした。)
 After swimming even more three times around "Mikuri-ga-ike", Koyama-houshi sank to the bottom of the lake and never came back to the surface.


(「みくりが池」の「みくり」とは、「御厨」の意で、「神々の厨房」として、信仰されていた場所です。)
 "Mikuri" in "Mikuri-ga-ike" means "kitchen", and it is a place that was worshiped as "the kitchen to serve the gods".

(立山は多くの人々の信仰を集めた山ですから、それを伝え聞いた越中の里の人々は、小山法師を憎んだに違いありません。)
 As Tateyama is a mountain that has attracted the faith of many people, so persons living in villages of Etchu who were informed that story by hearsay must have hated Koyama-Houshi.

(そこを泳ぐと言う不敬を働いたため、神の怒りに触れ、神に湖の底に引き込まれたと人々は考えました。)
 Because it was irreverent with swimming there, so common people thought that Koyama-houshi touched the wrath of the gods and was pulled to the bottom of the lake by the gods.

(でも、現実は、寒さで筋肉が硬直して、それで沈んで行ったのだと思います。)
 But I think the reality is that the cold made his muscles stiff, and that's why he sank.


(これがみくりが池の伝説です。)
 This is the legend of Mikuri-ga-ike.

(どうです?つまらないでしょう!)
 What do you think about it? Too dumb, isn't it!


(「三周」の事も、日本語で、「みくり(三繰)」と言う事が出来ます。)
 "Three times around(三周する)" can also be said in Japanese as "Mikuri(三繰)".

(この伝説の誕生以降、「みくりが池」は「御厨が池」ではなく、「三繰が池」と呼ばれるようになったとも、言われています。)
 It is said that after the birth of this legend, "Mikuri-ga-ike" came to be called "三繰が池(Mikurigaike)" instead of "御厨が池(Mikurigaike)".


(この曲は、この伝説が示す、見栄を張る人間の愚かさ、下らなさを表現したつもりです。)
 By this music I intend to have shown the foolishness and worthlessness of people who are vain, as shown by this legend.

(他者を軽んじてあざ笑い、傲慢に振舞う様は、やっている本人は立派に見えると思っているかもしれませんが、傍目には極めて間抜けで無様に映ります。)
 There is a person who may think that he/she who makes light of others, mocks them, and behaves arrogantly looks admirable, but to the outside, he/she looks extremely stupid and shameful.

(無論、それは私自身の事かもしれません… 、気を付けます…)
 Of course, I might too… , I'll be careful… .


(※ この曲に関しては、dominoを直接録音すると、どうしてもノイズがのってしまう。)
 ※ For this music, I recorded domino directly, but noise had to inevitably appear.

(今回、アップロードしたものが、一番ノイズが少ないのだけど…)
 However, the one I uploaded this time has the least noise…

Explanation of "Mt. Nishi-Hodsaka In Winter" (冬の西穂高岳)の説明

 

(北アルプスを題材にした曲を作成し、アップロードしてます。) I have composed and uploaded music with the motif of the Northern Alps.
(ここの所、北アルプスの四季を題材とした曲をアップロードしておりました。) Recently, I have uploaded music concerning the four seasons of the Northern Alps.
(春の曲である「上高地の春」から始まり、夏の曲である「光に靡く」、秋の曲である「残照の照葉ノ池」と投稿してまいりました。) I have uploaded a series of music, at first, the spring music named "Spring in Kamikouchi", followed by uploading the summer one "Swaying by the brilliance", and last time is the autumn "Shouyou Pond In Afterglow Of Sunset".
(よって、今回は北アルプスの冬を題材とした曲となります。) So, the music I will upload this time is about winter in the Northern Alps.
(「冬の西穂高岳」と言う曲です。) The title of that music is "Mt. Nishi-Hodaka in winter".

 

(「西穂高岳」は、「西穂山荘」を経由して登るのが、一般的です。) A ordinary route of climbing "Mt. Nishi-Hodaka" is via "Nishiho-Hut".
(他のルートとしましては、岳沢から天狗のコルを経て、間ノ岳経由で登る事も出来ます。) Another route which you can climb "Mt. Nishi-Hodaka" is from the Dakesawa Valley, through a col named "Tengu-no-col" and then via "Mt. Ainotake".
(更には、奥穂高岳から奥穂高岳のジャンダルムを経て天狗のコルへ行き、後は前述と同じルートで登る事も出来ます。) Besides, there is a route as that you climb Mt. Oku-Hotaka at first and so you will reach Tengu-no-col via Gendarme of Mt. Oku-Hodaka, and after that you should go as mentioned above.
(しかし、天狗のコルを経由するルートは距離もやや長く、且つ、かなり高度な難所がいくつかあり、一般向けではありません。) However, the route via Tengu-no-col is fairly long and has some quite difficult spots, so it's not for the general public.
(従って、「西穂高岳」に登ると言えば、「西穂山荘」経由と言う事になります。) So it follows that if ordinary trekkers climb "Mt. Nishi-Hotaka", they should go through "Nishiho Hut".

 

(「西穂山荘」へは「新穂高ロープウェイ」を経由して登るルートと、「上高地」から登るルートが有ります。) There are two routes to reach to Nishiho hut, then one is via the Shinhotaka Ropeway, and the other is from "Kamikouchi".
(ただし、冬は「上高地」は閉鎖されるので、「新穂高ロープウェイ」経由で登る事になります。) But in winter, "Kamikouchi" is closed, therefore you should climb via "Shinhotaka Ropeway".
(※ 実際は、真冬でも、「上高地」にはある程度の人出が有ります。) ※ In fact, even deep winter, sort of people get to Kamikochi.
(※ ただし、車では行けないので、徒歩で行く事になります。) ※ However, it's forbidden to go there by car, so you'll have to go on foot.

 

(「西穂山荘」は1年中休みなく営業している山小屋です。) All year round, "Nishiho Hut" that is a mountain hut is open.
(ただし、1mを超える積雪と、-10℃を軽く超える低温で、環境は極めて厳しいのです。) Nevertheless, the environment of surroundings the hut is extremely harsh, with more than 1m of snow and low temperatures that easily exceed -10°C.
(この小屋が真冬でも営業可能なのは、偏に「新穂高ロープウェイ」のお陰でしょう。) The reason why this hut is visited by enough people to be able to open even mid-winter is existance of the Shinhotaka-Ropeway.
(無雪期であれば、一般の人でも、新穂高ロープウェイの終着駅「西穂高口」から1時間程で、「西穂山荘」に着きます。) In no snow period, even ordinary trekkers can reach Nishiho Hut in about one hour from the Shinhotaka Ropeway terminal station that name is "Nishi-Hodaka-Guchi".
(有雪期でも、吹雪かなければ、2時間も有れば十分です。) Even in the snow season, if no blizzard, two hours is enough.
(※ 酷い吹雪であれば、一般の人は、命が惜しければ、「西穂山荘」へ行く事は、諦めざるを得ないでしょう。) ※ If severe blizzard came, common trekkers would have no choice but to give up on going to "Nishiho Sanso", in the case they think life is so dear.
(しかし、冬に於いては、「西穂山荘」迄は、まだ楽なものです。) Even though, in the case of winter, it is still easy up to "Nishiho Hut".
(そこから「西穂高岳」までは、本当に厳しい世界です。) From there to Mt. Nishi-hotaka, the world is really harsh.

 

(正直に申しますと、私は冬の西穂高岳の山頂に立てた事は、一度もありません。) To be honest, I have never stood on the summit of Mt. Nishi-Hotaka in winter.
(独標が限界でした。) In the case of mid-winter, It was the limit of my ability to reach to "Doppyou(独標)".
(何度かチャレンジしましたが、多くの場合天候が悪く、そんな時は丸山で引き返さざるを得ませんでした。) Several times I tried, but in most case the weather was so awful and I had no choice but to turn back at Maruyama.
(吹雪の時は、その辺りで「死」を意識し始めますので…) In the case of the blizzard, as it begin to be made aware of "death" at around there…

 

(一度だけ晴天に恵まれ、「今回こそは!」と意気込んで、「西穂山荘」を後にした事が有ります。) Just one time I got a fine weather, I vowed that "this time for sure!", and then I left "Nishiho Hut" enthusiastically.
(晴天の冬山は美しく、陽射しは殊に心地よく、周囲の雪山もいつもより雄大に見え、将に「楽園(かな?でも美しいよ!)」と言うべきでしょう!) The clear winter mountains were beautiful, the sunshine was especially comfortable, and the view of the surrounding snow-covered mountaions looked more majestic than usual, and the scenery was that it should have been said "paradise (This expression is correct? But just beautiful scene)"!
(MSRのスノーシューの履き心地も最高で、「私の鼻歌を止める事は、最早、誰にもできない!」と言う感じになりますよね!) MSR snowshoes were so comfortable and I thought that anyone was able to feel "No one can stop me from my humming!"

 

(ところがです、好事魔多し…)  However, "Good luck comes by cuffing…".
(最早、独標は直ぐそこ、と言う所で、物凄い風が吹き荒れ始めたのです。) Just as I went only a short distance to Doppyou, a terrifying wind began to blow suddenly.
(空は晴れていたのに…) Even though the sky was clear….
(雪煙が視界を激しく遮り、風で目も開けられない。) The spray of snow severely blocked my view, and I couldn't have even opened my eyes because of the horrible wind.
(それでも、風が弱まったタイミングで、何とか独標まで行きましたが、その先へ行く事は、自殺する事と等価としか思えませんでした。) Still, when the wind weakened, I managed to reach Doppyou, but I could only have thought moving on beyond that was equivalent to committing suicide.
(それでも行く人はいましたが…) Nonetheless some people still moved forward to ….
(ビレイ無しで、アイスピッケルとアイゼンだけで独標を下るには、結構厳しい風でしたが、何とか命はありました。) In spite of a quite tough wind, I accomplished to go down "Doppyou" without belaying, with just an ice-axe and crampons, then my life was barely with me.
(そこから西穂山荘迄も、その風に打ちのめされ続けましたが、何とか無事に辿り着けました。) From there to Nishiho Hut, the wind kept beating up me, but I managed to get there narrowly.
(この山荘が無ければ、命の危機に直面したかもしれません。) Without this mountain villa(lol), I might have faced a life-terminal crisis.
(この山荘が有るからこそ、私の様なものでも、命を落とす事なく、冬の西穂高岳の厳しさと美しさの一端に触れる事が出来たと言えましょう。) It should have been said that because of this mountain lodge, even someone like me was able to experience the rigors and beauty of Mt. Nishi-Hotaka in winter without losing my life.

 

(この時だけでなく、天気が悪くて丸山までしか行けなかった時の事も含めて、そのイメージを曲にしてみました。) Not only at that time, but also including the time when the weather was harsh and I could only have went to Maruyama, I tried to make that image into this music. (死を意識せざ
るを得ない厳しさと、吹き荒ぶ風と、無機質に舞う雪、而して、天気が良い時は幻想的な地上の楽園) The severity of death, the boisterous wind, the ruthless snow, but when the weather is fine, it's a fantastic paradise on earth.
(そういった感じが表現できていれば良いんだけど…) I wish I was able to express that kind of feeling with this music… .

Explanation of "Shouyou Pond In Afterglow Of Sunset[Brocade Autumn On Ayamedaira From Mt. Nagatsuga]" (残照の照葉ノ池[錦秋の長栂山~アヤメ平])の説明

(現在、日本の北アルプスをイメージした一連の曲を作っています。) Recently, I am working on composing a series of music inspired by the Northern Alps of Japan.
(「日本アルプス」と聞いて、「何だ、それ?」と思われる方もおられるかもしれません。) If you hear the "Japanese Alps", some of you may think "Wait…, What's that?"
(「アルプス」は、本来ヨーロッパのものですから。) By ordinary, everyone think "Alps" is in Europe.
(日本人が、勝手に変な事を言ってる様に感じられる方もおられると思います。) Someone may feel that some Japanese say strange things as their likes.
(この件に関しては、一昨年アップロードした"An Image of Inner Sight(Early Spring in Azumino)"と言う曲の説明の所で説明しましたが、以下に再掲いたします。) As for this matter, I explained it in the explanation of music "An Image of Inner Sight (Early Spring in Azumino)" that I uploaded two years ago, and now I will repeat it below.

(「日本アルプス」の名称は、約125年前にイギリスの鉱山技師のウィリアム ゴーランドさんによって生み出され、イギリス人宣教師のウォルター ウェストンさんによって、ヨーロッパやアメリカ等に紹介されました。特に、ウォルター ウェストンさんは、日本の登山の父として、登山者から尊敬されています。毎年、6月に、北アルプスの上高地で、彼を偲んでウェストン祭が行われています。上高地にはウェストンさんを偲ぶ碑もあります。) (The "Japanese Alps" was named by British mining engineer William Gowland about 125 years ago and was introduced to Europe, the United States and others by British missionary Walter Weston. In particular, Walter Weston is still respected by Japanese mountaineers as the father of mountaineering in Japan. Every June, the Weston Festival is held in memory of him in Kamikouchi in the Northern Alps in Japan. There is also a monument in memory of Mr. Weston in Kamikouchi.)

(この様に、日本アルプス(北アルプスの呼び名を含む)は、若干ながら歴史を持った呼び名でもあるのです。) Like that, the Japanese Alps (including the name of the Northern Alps) is a historical name but that history may be relatively short.

(話を戻しますが、前々回アップロードした、「Spring in Kamikouchi」と言う曲は、北アルプスの春を題材にした曲でした。) Moving on the topic, the music "Spring in Kamikouchi" that I uploaded two times ago was about spring in the Northern Alps.
(前回の「Swaying by the brilliance」は、北アルプスの夏を題材とした曲です。) The previous music "Swaying by the brilliance" is based on summer in the Northern Alps.
(そして、今回の「残照の照葉ノ池」は、北アルプスの秋が題材となっております。) And the music which title is "Shouyou Pond In Afterglow Of Sunset", that I uploaded this time, was composed with the concept on autumn in the Northern Alps.

(「長栂山」は北アルプスの北部にある、あまり知られてないかもしれない山です。) "Mt. Nagatsuga" is a mountain in the northern part of the Northern Alps that may be known by few people.
(有名な(?)「白馬岳」から北は、あまり知られてないかもしれません。) In the Northern Alps, the area where is further to north than the Mt. Hakuba that is very famous(?) mountain in japan may not be well known.
(それでも、日本の二百名山の一つである「雪倉岳」や三百名山の一つである「朝日岳」は、まだ知られている方です。) Even so, Mt. Yukikura which is one of the 200 famous mountains in Japan, and Mt. Asahi which is one of the 300 famous mountains in Japan, are not too bad known.
(でも、蓮華温泉から「朝日岳」に行く途中の山である「長栂山」(五輪尾根を登りきった所にある)は、通過点の山で、着いても気が付かない人が殆どでしょう。) However, Mt. Nagatsuga (which located at the top of Gorin ridge), that is on the way from Renge Spa to Mt. Asahi is a passing mountain, rarely people will notice that here is the Top of Mt. Nagatsuga.

(実はここは、隠れた紅葉の名所です。) In fact, this is a not-well-known amazing autumn foliage spot.
(山頂から北にやや下った所に、アヤメ平や黒岩平を広く見渡せる場所があるのですが、そこから見る紅葉は、将に息を呑む美しさです。) There is a place where you can look out over Ayame-daira and Kuroiwa-daira a little further north from the summit, and then the autumn leaves seen from there are breathtakingly beautiful.
(何処までも続く様な錦絵を上から見下ろす快感は、筆舌に尽くし難い。) A pleasant feeling of like a looking down on a multi-colored brocade picture that seems to go on forever is beyond description.
(思わずそこにダイブしたい衝動に駆られます(死ぬのでやめて下さい)。) I'm sure that anyone will be driven by the urge to dive there unintentionally.(Please stop as you should die if you should do.)

(「照葉の池」は、長栂山に有ります。) "Shouyou Pond" is on Mt. Nagatsuga.
(殆どの人にとっては、何の変哲もない、小さな池です。) For almost people, it's a nondescript little pond.
(でも、何とも言えない寂しさ、侘しさ、枯れた美しさがあります。) But it has a beauty that is indescribable sadness and forlornness, and that coexist colorlessness, pale life and depth.
(そこに一人で佇んでいると、生きると言う事が、とても愛しいものの様に感じられました。) Lingering there alone made me feel that life was something so adorable.

(私がここに残照の中で佇んだのは、秋ではなく夏でした。) It was not autumn, but summer when I lingered alone here in the afterglow of the setting sun.
(日本海の海辺にある「親不知」と言う場所から、「栂海新道」を通って、朝日岳に行った時です。) It was when I went to Mt. Asahi through a trail named "Tsugami-Shindou" from a place called "Oyashirazu" on the coast of the Sea of Japan.
(前日、「白鳥小屋」に泊まり、この日は朝日岳を越えて、「朝日小屋」まで行く予定でした。) The day prior, I stayed at mountain hut named "Shiratori-Goya" on the route, and on this day I was planning to go over Mt. Asahidake to "Asahi-Goya".
(しかし、40kgの荷物(朝日岳を越えて、延々と北アルプスを縦走する予定でしたので)が祟り、この照葉の池で夕暮れを迎える事となったのです。) However, due to my 40kg luggage (because I was planning to keep on traversing the Northern Alps over Mt. Asahidake), when I reached at Shouyou Pond, dusk was coming.

(この時の感覚は、今でも鮮明です。) Still now the sense at that time is vivid.
(死んだあと、魂がここに戻って佇んでいる様な感覚…) After death, the feeling that the soul comes back here and keep on standing silently there….
(暮れ残りの、地平の微かな赤味に体が溶かされて、魂だけがそこにある様な感覚…) Feeling like my body is dissolved by the faint redness that the dusk left is of the horizon, and only my soul is there….
(悲しくも美しい感覚…) A sense… that feel sorrowful but beautiful.
(ここに留まってはいけないと思いつつも、永遠にここに留まりたいと思ってしまう感じ…) A sensation that while thinking I suppose I shouldn't stay here, I wish to keep on remaining here eternally….
(長栂山からアヤメ平の紅葉を眺める度に、何故か、あの時の事を思い出すのです…) Every time I look at the autumn leaves of Ayame-daira from Mt. Nagatsuga, for some reason I remember how I feel of that time….

(この曲で、紅葉の長栂山からアヤメ平を見渡した時の雄大な感じと、その紅葉の繊細な美しさを表現したつもりです。) This music is that I was meant to expresses the magnificent feeling of looking over Ayame-daira from Mt. Nagatsuga and the exquisite beauty of that autumn leaves of there.
(そして、その中に、残照の中で佇んだ照葉の池で感じた侘しさや美しさを織り込んだつもりです。) And in that, I intend to have captured the desolation and beauty that I felt when I was standing still by Shouyou Pond in the afterglow of sunset.
(それに共感してくれる人が居ればうれしいのだけど…(残照の照葉の池に佇んだ奴は他にいないだろうから… 共感する人はいないよね!) I'd be happy if someone could empathize to that… (Maybe persons who had been standing still in the afterglow of Shouyou Pond are not anywhere, except me…. So, I know that no one will be able to empathize that!)
