参考訳　Herbideces are used to regulate the growth of unwanted platns, or weeds.

コメント　Herbicides limit the growth of undesirable plants, or weeds.

　　　　　文章は、まず人に対する情報を提供することが多い。マニュアルとか取説とか。

　　　　　つまり職業として書く文章は、そういったものが多い。だから、この場合でも、まずはuseという動詞を

　　　　　使う発想が来るようにしたい。その後、科学的事実を述べる文章を書く選択をしてもよいと考える。

 

例文　電気を作るために使用されるエネルギーのうちの約３分の２が、廃熱として空気中に捨てられている。

私案　電気を作るために使用されるエネルギーのうちの約３分の２が、廃熱として空気中に捨てられている。

　　　About two-thirds of energy used to generate electricity is exhausted to the atmosphere as waste heat.

           About two-thirds of the energy for generating electricity is exhausted into the atomospere as waste heat.

参考訳　Nearly two-thirds of the energy used to generate electricity is wasted in the form of heat discharged to the atmospere.
