Looked calm with basically normal flying conditions BUT once you got up high, the upper winds were blowing very strongly😱 and the lower winds were rotating like a washing machine😰
Having popped up to thermal tops near 1500m I was surprised to find myself going backwards at 35 km/h. That's at least 70 km/h of wind speed. TO had only very light winds.
