直訳すると…リンゴは決して木から離れたところに落ちない
　　　　　　　　　　　　　⇩
ということは…「リンゴは木の近くに落ちる」という意味になり
リンゴの木＝親で　リンゴ＝子　に見立てて
子供の才能などが親譲りであることを表現している諺です

子は親に似る／似たもの親子／蛙の子は蛙
日本語だと悪い意味で使われることが多いような気がしますが
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.はいい意味でも使えます

別の言い方だと…
Like father, like son.
父も父なら息子も息子

Like mother, like daughter.
母も母なら娘も娘
