日本は竹島の領有権を巡る問題について，国際法にのっとり，冷静かつ平和的に紛争を解決する考えです。

(注)韓国側からは，日本が竹島を実効的に支配し，領有権を再確認した1905年より前に，韓国が同島を実効的に支配していたことを示す明確な根拠は提示されていません。
