今回は前回の続きの英語の間違いについて共有いたします。
3 Name and Card
３ NameとCard
In café, when staff serve drink, staff call customer’s name, so I was asked name from staff.
カフェは店員さんが飲み物を提供する際名前を呼んで提供するため毎回レジで名前を聞かれます。
I am not good at listening, so I have habit that is listening and forecasting only the beginning. Staff asked me “what is your name?” but I misunderstood “what is your card?” so I answered “David”. Staff looked at me in wonder and she said “your name is David?!”.
わたしはリスニングが苦手で最初だけを聞いて予想する癖があり最後までよく聞かず店員さんが名前を聞いているのに対し私はカードの種類を聞いているとおもい「David」と答えてしまい店員さんに「your name is David!?」と不思議な顔で見られました。
NAME is totally different from CARD. If I heard until last, prebaby I didn’t make mistake…
この二つは似ても似つかない単語同士ですが最後までちゃんと聞いていれば間違えることはなかったですね。
４ My name
My name is Kurumi. In English there are a lot of similar words as my name. for example, “could be”, “kill(ing) me”, “follow me”. I often hear these words, each time I think “me? Someone call me?”
私の名前はくるみというのですが、英語に私の名前に似たことばが多いです。「could be」「kill(ing) me」「follow me」この三つはよく耳にしますがそのたびに私？呼んだ？となってしまいます。
The other day, I asked to staff “where is ~~?” Staff said “follow me”. Then I thought “why he knows my name?” I was wonder. My friends tell me “Not you!!!” every time. I cannot space out all the time. However, my name is hard to say, so I was called “Kalumi” and “Karami” etc. now I have a lot of names.
店員さんにこれはどこにあるかと聞いたときにfollow meと言われなぜこの人は私の名前を知っているのだろうと不思議に思ったことがありました。友達にはそのたびに「Not you!!!!!」と言われます。日ごろボーっとしていられないですね。と言っても私の名前は言いづらいようでカルミやカラミと呼ばれ今ではたくさん名前も持っています。
５ Let’s keep in touch
“Let’s keep in touch” means “Let’s text to me”. But I thought it means “high five”. It sentence is useful so I will use someday in order to remind.
Let’s keep in touchは連絡しようねという意味らしいのですが、友達に言われたときはハイタッチのことかと思っていました。この文は友達同士でよく使えそうですよね。私もおぼえるために今度使ってみます。
English learned through embarrassing experience is easy to remember. Still it’s embarrassing just because I don’t speak English well, so I hope to learn from experience from now on too.
恥ずかしい経験を通した英語はおぼえやすいですよね。それでも英語が話せないというだけで既に恥ずかしいのでこれからもたくさん経験しておぼえていけるといいです。
