速報で家族で過ごす独立記念日の様子を伝えてきてくれました。

お互いの人生の岐路を知り合う仲でもあります。

NRO 4th of July Concert 2009

「The National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) is made up of students who are in graduate music schools around the US. The director of the orchestra, Carl Topilow, interviews (and listens to) over 800 students between seasons and picks the best 85 - 90 to be in the NRO. They live and perform in Breckenridge from mid-June until mid-August, with rehearsals almost every day, concerts twice a week and many other activities, chamber concerts, etc. A very difficult schedule.
The NRO is often a stepping-stone to a job in a professional orchestra. So students try very hard to be accepted to the NRO and to perform their best during the 2 month season. We get to enjoy their great music. We have another orchestra, the BMF, that plays twice a week for about 6 weeks later in the summer. The members are from professional orchestras around the country.
Because of poor economy this year, the NRO could not afford to hire a photographer, so I volunteered. It is a lot of work, but fun to get to know the musicians.」
