Today, let's learn some polite English that can be used in business.
In most business situations, I think we should use polite English.
So, today let's learn and practice some polite ways to say in each situation below.
For example...
・When you want someone to pass you a pen, you can say "Pass me the pen."
However, in a polite way, you can say... "Could you please pass me the pen?"
・When you are busy and someone ask you something, you can say "Wait a minute."
However, in a polite way, you can say... "Could you give me a minute?"
・When someone asks you something, you can say "NO."
However, in a polite way, you can say... "I'm afraid I can't."
・When you are on the plane and a flight attendant asks you your preference of a meal, you can say "I want fish."
However, in a polite way, you can say... "I would like fish, please. "
・When you are on the phone, you can say... "Wait a minute."
However in a polite way, you can say... "Can you hold please?"

本日は“ビジネスでも使える英語の敬語表現”です。
英語では敬語がないと思われがちですが、実は様々な敬語の表現があり、特に英語でのビジネスの状況では適切な敬語を使うほうが賢明です。
今日はいくつかのビジネスの状況での敬語の使い方を取り上げたいと思います。
例えば…
・近くの人にペンを取ってもらいたい場合、"Pass me the pen."と言えますが、敬語の表現であれば…"Could you please pass me the pen?"
・忙しい時に話しかけられた場合、"Wait a minute."でも大丈夫ですが、敬語の表現ですと…"Could you give me a minute?"
・何かを尋ねられ断りたい場合、"NO."でも良いのですが、敬語の表現ならば…"I'm afraid I can't."
・飛行機の中で食事の選択ができる場合、"I want fish."でも大丈夫ですが、敬語の表現ですと…"I would like fish, please. "
・電話応対のひとことで、相手にお待ちいただくことを伝える時、"Wait a minute."も使えますが、敬語の表現では"Could you hold please?"
ビジネスの状況であれば、できるだけ敬語を使っていきましょう！
