日本語独特の表現“いただきます＆ごちそうさまでした”を英語で言ってみよう

Today, let’s try to say some Japanese expressions in English!
Today's expressions I'd like to pick up are the ones that we usually use before & after eating in Japan - "Itadakimasu & Gochisousamadeshita."
Why I'm picking up these expressions is because at our cafe, customers often ask us "What do you say Itadakimasu?" in English.
We can't answer this question easily since there are no exact translated English expressions for Itadakimasu & Gochisousamadeshita, which are not commonly used in English speaking countries.
However, let's see...
"Itadakimasu"
・Let's eat!
・Let's dig in.
・Shall we start eating?
・Shall we eat?
"Gochisousamadeshita"
・Thank you for the wonderful meal!
・The meal was great!
・I really enjoyed the meal!
・I can't eat any more!
・I'm satisfied. Thanks!
・It was delicious!
If you really want to say "Itadakimasu & Gochisousamadeshita", please try to use them!

本日は“日本語独特の表現“いただきます＆ごちそうさまでした”を英語で言ってみよう”です。

English Plusカフェにランチで来られるお客様に聞かれる質問で多いのが、“いただきます・ごちそうさまは英語で何て言うの？”という質問です。

英語では“いただきます・ごちそうさまでした”に該当する表現がないため返答に困るのですが、あえて英語で…と言うのであれば以下の表現が使えます。

“いただきます”

・Let's eat!

・Let's dig in.

・Shall we start eating?

・Shall we eat?

“ごちそうさまでした”

・Thank you for the wonderful meal!

・The meal was great!

・I really enjoyed the meal!

・I'm full. I can't eat any more!

・I'm satisfied. Thanks!

・It was delicious!

“いただきます”“ごちそうさまでした”を英語で言いたい！という時に使ってみましょう。
