Trav's Friday Update

    Hello from Travis sensei   

                                   Spring break events are finished, did you come?  

We had so much fun spending spring break with Starry students and your friends / family. I hope you all had a great time.  Those of you who came, it was nice to see you all. Especially yesterday, BBQ hamburger day.  So many friends, so much food and lots of fun play at the park. I think I played frisbee at the park with students for about 2 hours. So many of you have become great frisbee throwers. I am very proud of you. Especially Hikaru kun, small but mighty. When it was time to go home, I picked up a bit of trash around the park and found an Easter egg from our Easter egg hunts a few days ago. I ate the candy.  It was still ok and yummy. 

If you check out the patio of Starry, you can see some of the seeds I planted from Easter seed cups during spring events. The seeds grew up and I put them in planters. Most of them are doing ok. Check them out 

Next school year is here, are you ready

Geography Lesson

6つの大陸を色紙で作り、オリジナル世界地図を作成しました

有名な人物、食べ物などを国とマッチングさせ、色紙に貼りました

 

Science in English (2) ～全員対象～

紙粘土と絵の具を使いボルケーノを作りました

Explosion(爆発)をさせるために、何と何を混ぜたらいいのかを生徒たちに考えさせ、

実際に粉末や物質を混ぜ、実験をしました

結果、酢と重曹を混ぜると爆発みんな、大興奮でした

 

Starry Hamburger Shop

10時、11時半、1時にそれぞれハンバーガーショップを開きました

最初にネイティブの先生と一緒に英語で注文の仕方を練習し、

ドリンク、ハンバーガー/チーズバーガー、ハッシュポテトの順に教室内を回り、

実際に英語で注文してもらいました

そのあとは、お友達とみんなで食べたり、公園に行って食べたり…

Yummyと言いながら美味しそうに食べていました

 

スプリングイベントにご参加いただきありがとうございました

春休みのイイ思い出になれば嬉しいです

 

新年度のレッスン＆多読のレッスン(体験)は明日4月1日(土)から始まります

みんなに会えるのを楽しみにしています

Thank you for coming to Starry spring events!!

今回は8日間にわたりスターリー春のイベントを開催しましたが、

スターリーに通ってきているみんなも、そうでないお友達も、たくさんの方々が参加してくれました

参加してくださったみなさん、ありがとうございました

 

Let's play with colors!!

英語で色の言い方を練習し、絵の具を使った実験をしたり、公園でカラーボールを使ったゲームをしました

 

Happy Easter(1)～未就園児＆幼稚園児対象～

イースターの誕生祭にちなんで、鉢植えのActivityをしました

6種類の中から好きな種を選んでもらい、自分たちで実際に紙コップの土の中に種を蒔きました

そのあとは、公園に行ってイースターエッグハンティング

スターリーに戻ってきてから、エッグの中に入っているお菓子をむしゃむしゃ食べて、みなさんご機嫌のようでした

Happy Easter(2) ～全員対象～

 

Science in English(1) ～未就園児＆幼稚園児対象～

Lava(溶岩) lampを作り、後半はスライムを作りました

最初は油、水、氷を使い、ボトルに入れるとどうなるかの実験をしました

それから、Lava lamp作り開始　

ペットボトルに油と水を3:1で入れて、食紅、光る液体を投入　

スポイトで食紅水を1滴ずつ入れたときは、水滴が油の中を通っていく様子に興味津々のようでした

最後に水酸化ナトリウム(今回はバブ)を投入ブクブクと泡が噴き出てくる様子に子供たちも大興奮

スライムもぬるっとした感触に大興奮で帰る時までず～っと触っていました

 

Pre-1st Elemantary Class 

4月から新1年生になる生徒を対象に、アルファベット書き、フォニックスの確認をしました

アルファベットBINGO,　マグネットを使った大文字&小文字マッチング、公園に行ってアルファベット探しなど、

たくさんのActivityを通して、1年生のレッスンにスムーズに入っていけるようサポートしました

午前中のイベントから続けて午後のプレ1年生のレッスンを受けるみんなで楽しくランチも食べました

 

Let's make curry

今回はスパイスから混ぜて作るカレーつくりに挑戦

20種類のスパイスを混ぜ合わせて本格的なカレーを作りました

少し辛くても平気のようで、みんなモリモリ食べていました

 

Guitar Lesson

主にコードの練習、ドレミの練習をしました

思った以上にスムーズにコードも覚え、上手に弾くことができました

Trav's Spring Easter Seed Project Update

   Hello Everyone ! 

Travis sensei here !    How are you enjoying your Spring Break? Many great Spring Day Events here at Starry.

Students who made SEED CUPS, make sure you PUT & KEEP your cups in a SUNNY WINDOW, so the seeds will come up properly. Very Important...OK 

みんな、自分で作った鉢カップを陽の当たる場所に置いておくのを忘れないようにね

春のスターリーはイベントが盛りだくさん！

いよいよ明後日２０日はスターリーの発表会です。

今年度の最後のレッスンを発表会で締めくくります。

日ごろの成果を十分に発揮できるように、最後までしっかり練習して下さいね。

みんなの発表、楽しみにしています。

詳細は、先日お知らせしたお便りをご確認下さい。

 

そして、２１日～３０日の期間は日替わりのイベントを実施します。

イースター、実験、ギター教室、料理、ハンバーガーショップなどなど

Trav's Friday Update

  Hello Starry Kids and parents 

I hope you had a chance to see my Shinsai ( 2011 quake and tsunami ) volunteering pictures I posted last week here on the blog. 

Well, this school year is finished and all Starry students have improved so much. I am very proud of you all. I look forward to the new adventures this year with you. 

Our "Spring Events" are starting on the 21st and will end on the 31st. I hope you all have time to come and bring your friends. It will be lots of fun. Lots of games, food, candy and goofing around.

p.s. My daughter was accepted into the fashion High School that she wanted to go to. Maybe I told you...

ご卒園おめでとうございます★

今週は、あちこちの幼稚園で卒園式が執り行われているようです

入園のときから、ひとまわり成長した我が子の姿は涙が出るほど嬉しいものですね

私も娘の卒園式の日は涙をこらえるのに必死でした

 

４月からは新１年生になりますね

卒園したみんなは、新しい生活が始まることにワクワクしているかな

 

スターリーでは新１年生のみんなに、１年生のクラスで使う、

ノートブック、アルファベットシート、チャレンジブックを渡してあると思います

春休みの間にノートブックにアルファベットを書いてみたり、チャレンジブックのCDを聞いてみてくださいね

そして、スターリーの春休みのイベントにもご参加お待ちしています

LA LA LAND

月曜日に久しぶりに映画館に行ってきました。

観た映画は今話題の“LA LA LAND”

内容はまだ観ていないお友だちもいるので言えませんが

とにかく音楽が良かった

ザ・ミュージカルという音楽もあれば、ジャズ、ポップ、ピアノメインの曲・・・

音楽好きにはたまらない映画でした

 

昨日は雨が降っていたので、徒歩でStarryまで来ましたが

そのあいだもずっとLA LA LANDのサントラを聴いていました・・・

さらにＣＤも注文してしまいました届くのが楽しみです

 

今気になっている映画はSINGです

最近はなかなか映画館に赴くことがなかったのですが、これを機にまた足を運んでみようかなと思っています

そして・・・・

引越しのため、Miaちゃんは今月でスターリーを卒業します

 

寂しくなるけれど、新しい場所でも英語を好きでいてくれるといいな

 

新しい場所、新しい友達、小学校、緊張すると思うけど、

Miaちゃんの明るい笑顔は周りの人をハッピーにする力があるので、

その笑顔をいつまでも忘れずに何でも乗り切っていってほしいです

 

仙台に来ることがあったら遊びに来てね

Trav's Friday Update

  Hello Starry world 

Travis sensei here . 

Wow, spring is in the air  Its still a bit cold but, I can feel it in my bones...ITS COMING SOON .

I planted some flower and vegetable seeds in my classroom in preparation for our Spring Events. The flower seeds are coming up and the cucumbers too. Its fun to watch things grow from seeds.  I am practicing the seed planting craft for our Easter Day events.  http://blog.goo.ne.jp/kotoba-starry/e/9da296e98a00463b8a5ba41e25fd3f88 If you come, you will do it also and be able to take them home with you and watch them grow. Hope you can make it .

Its also the Shinsai ( Great North East Japan Disaster) anniversary tomorrow. Such a sad and difficult time for everyone. I remember I only had 8 rice crackers and coffee for 3 days. I passed out on the street from hunger. After one week, my NPO job staff came to my broken apartment and gave me food. I was so happy to eat. Our NPO was the main collection center for Miyagi ken to receive donations for people in need. All my friends left Japan but I could not leave people in need. One of my friends Mike ( Starry Summer Camp Teacher ) stayed. He came to me with a car and a Japanese friend of his who would sleep in the gasoline line a few days. After we got gas, every few days we would find some roads to Kesanuma, Minamisanriku and Ishinomaki. We would fill the car with survival supplies, baby supplies, chocolate and childrens crayons and coloring books. We would take them out to the Hinanjos and other places we could find where people had NO help. Some people had nothing to eat, no house or hope. We offered them food and things but sometimes the people would say "no thank you". I was shocked. They said take it to other people who need it more. This is the exact opposite kind of reaction I received when I volunteered for 2 years in the Thailand Tsunami Disaster. 

Lets remeber how it feels to have nothing and be thankful for all the things we now have.
