Travis' Blog Update...Hey !

RAINY FRIDAY, HELLO TO YOU  

Well....are you enjoying the rain I'm not..BUT we need it. I remember last rainy season, we had almost NO rain. So, this year is kind of normal, HU !? I had to buy a new rain suit because of the constant heavy rain. My old one was 3 years old. It didn't get used much. 

This Wednesday at 7pm, 5th grade class had just finished class and I was ready to go home. Buuuut, 3 SUPER students usually stay in the Starry center room and do their homework before they go home. I think it's so wonderful for the mothers to wait around and visit while their children do their homework. Last week and this week, I did not go home at 7pm like usual, but I stayed and helped them and checked their homework.

It is so nice to see Starry so busy with students. We are doing Eiken interview practice for 2 more weeks at that time too..so the center room gets very busy...sorry to the 3 SUPER Wednesday 5th grade students.

家族でバーベキューをしてお祝いしましたよ

アメリカと言えばホットドッグ！

大きなウィンナーをグリルで焼いてバンに挟んで出来上がり

お好みでマスタード、ケチャップ、レリッシュをかけていただきまーす

これは”バイクドポテト”といってジャガイモのグラタンのような料理だよ

多読クラスの１コマ

小学生クラスの対面レッスンが再開してもう少しで１ヶ月です。

皆さん、前の生活ペースに慣れてきましたか？

今週、高学年の多読クラスではドラえもんを読みました。

（たまの息抜きの時に、ドラえもんを読むようにしています。）

英語と日本語の両方で表記されているので、両方の言語で読むように伝えると・・・・

５年生クラスのAkaneちゃんが、私のところにやってきて

「英語はfinallyがはいっているのに日本語が同じって、おかしいよね。」と教えに来てくれました。

「きちんと両方の言語で考えながら読んでるね。すごいね！」と彼女に伝え、

そのページの写真を撮らせてもらいました。

 

というわけで、多読クラスでは漫画などもたまに取り入れたりしています。

楽しくなければ、続かない！をモットーに多読クラスを取り組んでいます。

N E W S .... Last Friday, 3rd grade class Two girls in my class said they love sunflowers and the sunflowers in front of Starry are beautiful. Ayaka and Sara asked me for some sunlower seeds. I gave them some extra seeds I had. They took them home. I hope they grow BIG. Good Luck  

More NEWS...This Wednesday about 4pm...a Starry student noticed a rainbow in the sky. This was a very very WIDE rainbow Did you see it

自粛生活

対面レッスンが再開して一月ほど経ちましたが、皆さんいかがお過ごしですか

今や昔の事になるのかもですが、自粛生活の中趣味を満喫していたお友達がいます。

紙で作った輪ゴムgun。

設計図を取り寄せて、自分でパーツを切り分け組み立てたそうです。

このお友達は他にも宝箱やきれいなキツネのお面など、とても素敵な作品をオンラインレッスンの時に見せてくれました

皆も凄いと思うでしょう！

HOW TO MAKE COOKIES!!!

Hello!Everyone

 

本日はクッキーの作り方について紹介したいと思います！！

一括りにクッキーと言ってもいろんなジャンル、作り方のクッキーがありますね簡単そうに見えて意外と奥深いお菓子だと私は思っています。

 

まずはクッキーの食感の違い！！

たくさん混ぜると固いザクザククッキーになります。

あまり混ぜないととサクサクホロホロのクッキーになります。

味や好み、型抜きをするのかしないかで、自分で硬さを調節します。子どもと一緒にやる場合多めに混ぜたほうが生地を扱いやすくなります。

 ⭐︎Ingredients 

　　　• butter 240g

　　　• powder sugar 120g

　　　• egg 50g

　　　• flour 300g

　　　• almond flour 100g

1.Mix the butter with the powder sugar.

2.Add the egg to "1" and mix.

3.Mix the flour and almond flour with "2".

4.Cut out shapes‼︎

5.Bake at 170℃ for 15-20min.

全クラス対面レッスンに戻りました

学校再開を受け、スターリーも対面レッスンへ徐々に移行し、

今週から中学生クラスも加わり、すべてのクラスが対面レッスンに戻りました。

 

中学１年生は、まだまだ夜からのレッスンに慣れないようで、

オンラインが楽で良かったなぁ。という声も聞こえてきたかと思えば、

中学２年生以上のクラスは、久しぶりの再会でテンションがとても高かったり、

と様々でした。

 

コロナ感染拡大防止対策のため始めたオンラインレッスンですが、

この中でじっくり取り組んだライティングのレッスンが予想以上の効果を上げました。

そこで、ライティングのレッスンを引き続きオンラインで開講していくことにしました。

 

ライティングマスター目指して、ZOOMでどんどん書きまくろう！

SUPER DUPER FRIDAaaaaY  

What's up super happy people ?  

Super cool happening !! Last week, a student who was my kinder student, took a break for about 8 months for personal reasons. Her name is Momoka. She came back last week to join again and do a trial class. I spoke regular English to her and told her I missed her and was happy to see her again. But I said, "Ohhisashiburi" in Japanese. And Momoka replied in English, " long time no see ". WOW ! I was so so surprised !! When she was my kinder student, I took the extra time to teach her to say, Long time no see. Aaaaand...WOW, she remembered. I love to take the extra time and effort to teach the children the "EXTRA" useful English expressions. Sometimes it stays with them and they are able to use these "useful expressions"....It brings a tear of joy to my eye.  

 

CHECK IT OUT This year the sunflower seeds I planted...they are so beautiful this year. I used different seeds than usual. I love sunflowers.   I think they make people happy to look at them.

Bye the way...I filled in the puddle under the swing for the kids. I hope you can play and not get too dirty. Mama will be happy too. Although...my shovel broke, so I could only do one puddle. I was using a snow shovel. DOH !! I will try and buy a new shovel and keep the puddles filled in with dirt, as I usually do. It's my love to Starry kids and all the children in our community.
