先週に引き続き、カナダ・トロントのイルミネーションを紹介します！
少しでも、本場の雰囲気が伝わると嬉しいです
第2弾は、Union Station(ユニオン駅前)のイルミネーションです。
ここはトロントで一番大きな駅で、日本なら東京駅のようなところです。地下鉄だけでなく、日本でいうJRなどの駅もあるのでものすごく大きな駅でよく迷子になります（笑）
シンボルのCNタワーも間近で見れることができるイルミネーションスポットです！CNタワーは毎日ライトアップされていますが、この時期はクリスマス風な色でつつまれています。
大きなツリーは、音楽に合わせてライトアップがかわりとても素敵です
わたしは、チョコレートのお店で働いていたときに帰りによってみました
寒い中ですが、とてもきれいで気持ちがルンルンになりました（笑）
こちらが写真です！が、、、本物はもっとすごいです！！！言葉では伝えられません！（笑）

YukikoHappy Friday, everyone! It's December now, so that means Christmas is coming soon. Some people are going to the mall these days to look for Christmas presents for family or friends. Even in many countries far away from Japan, there will be a lot of Japanese goods which will be bought as presents. That's because Japan is famous for many things, and they are sold all over the world.
You all have heard of Super Mario, I'm sure!! When I was young, I loved playing Nintendo games that had Mario and his brother Luigi in them. Even today, there are a lot of video games involving the Super Mario Brothers. These games are big sellers almost everywhere. People often think of Japan when they think about video games. And not just because of Mario (who is actually Italian!). Nintendo and Playstation games like these are well-known, but a lot of other types of games (such as Final Fantasy) started originally in Japan and then spread to numerous overseas countries.
The photo above brings back so many happy memories!! It is a Mitsubishi, and the model's name is "Tredia". This type of car is the first one I ever owned. It was really easy to drive, and it didn't need very much gasoline (compared to some other cars). I bought it used, and it was made in 1989. More than 30 years ago in North America, people already knew that Japanese cars were one of the best kinds. My mother's favorite was Honda, I think. She has owned more than one Honda in her life so far, and many adults especially love the motorcycles that Honda makes. Japan is famous for producing cars which are fuel-efficient (ねんりょうこうりつ, or 燃料効率).
Of course, pretty much everybody knows that green tea (お茶) comes from Japan. We foreigners sometimes believe that Asians have special reasons why they can live very long lives. Japanese people have the highest life expectancy in the world, at around 85 years of age. One time I bought some of this for my grandmother in Canada. I told her it's called "o-cha" in Japan, and it is really healthy. I said it could help her live a long time. She drank it, but I think she first put some milk and sugar in it!! I guess she thought it was like regular English tea. She didn't understand that Japanese people don't drink it the way she did.
I can't forget about famous Japanese movies, either! The image here is of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". There's a new movie about the ninja turtles coming out in 2023, I heard. And the "Transformers" movies have been quite popular in North America too, as have Hayao Miyazaki's "Studio Ghibli" movies. Almost everyone knows who Akira Kurosawa was, as well. As for me, I think that Japan's horror movies are especially well-made (such as "The Ring"). Such movies are often remade by Hollywood. Anyway, I hope all of you have a nice December!! And if you go shopping for Christmas presents this month, please remember that somewhere else in the world people are probably buying Christmas presents that look pretty Japanese. It's a small world, after all. ;)

アメリカにいた時にハマっていたボールルームダンスについて…
日本で言ういわゆるソーシャルダンスです。
特にアメリカンスタイルと言われるボールルームダンスが好まれていました。
日本で幅広く行われているインターナショナルと言われるダンスよりも手軽に踊れる感じです。
アメリカンスタイルはインターナショナルと違い、体を密着させないのが特徴です。
アメリカ人って案外シャイで、知らない人と体を密着させることに抵抗があるようです。
そこでアメリカンスタイルが生まれたそうです。
インターナショナルより更に上を行く密着度が、アルゼンチンタンゴ。
ボールルーム界の異端児と言ったところでしょうか！
①．アメリカンスタイル ボールルーム
・ American Smooth : Walts Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Walts, and American Quickstep
・ American Rhythm : Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, and Salsa
・ Disco Dance : West Coast Swing, Hastle, Two Step
②．インターナショナル ボールルーム
・ International Standard : Walts, Tango, Foxtrot, Vinnese Walts and Quickstep
・ International Latin dances ：Cha Cha, Runba, Jive, Paso Doble and Samba
③．アルゼンチン タンゴ
・ Argentine Tango
①，②，③はそれぞれ似て非なるもので、同じ会場で同じ時間に踊られることはまずありません。
アメリカでは気軽にダンスホールで①.が踊られています。
②.は大会を目指しているような人達が場所を借りて練習しています。
③.は①.を楽しむ人達もこっそりと別の場所で練習してたりしますが、主に①、②とは別のグループが楽しんでいました。
私はちなみに①全般とDisco Danceに特化したダンスパーティに参加してました。
②はTangoとWaltzを習ってました。
③はこっそりダンスパーティに参加したりしましたが、あまりにも異質な雰囲気に圧倒されたのを覚えています。
ああ、懐かしいなぁ…

2ndのクラスでは、今月は12月ということでChristmasについて勉強しています
今週はクリスマスカードを使ったカルタをしています！
パッとすぐ取る子やじっくり考えて取る子など個性がありました！昨日のクラスではMizukiちゃんが1番多く取れていました！
また授業内でサンタクロースの本も読んでいます
お話に出てくる絵に合わせてみんなで単語を言う練習をしています！
今月末にはクリスマスが来ますが、みんなはどんなプレゼントを頼むのかな？
ワクワクしますね
